ive been going in and out of our local music store for quite some time now, comparing the 314ce to the 214ce,614ce and 814ce. i figured if im going to spend that kind of money on a guitar, that guitar has to be the best in terms of quality, sound and price. i also wanted a genuine all wood guitar so the 214ce was easily crossed out, although i must admit it sounded pretty good. The 614ce is a little on the bright side and it sounded great for finger picking, what amazes me is that the tone of the 314ce and 814ce is pretty much the same, to be honest i didnt hear any difference at all, and looking at the price difference, the 314ce is an easy pick! although aesthetically speaking the 814ce is more striking to look at, but my priority is the sound so with the 314ce i got a great sounding guitar at a descent price. now i still have some left over money to spend on my other hobbies. i got my guitar just over a week ago thru ups, it comes with a hard shell case which looks amazing, and i will never forget the smell of that brand new taylor the first time i opened the case, im in guitar heaven!!

Having played a Taylor Big Baby for a few years and then a Taylor 110, both of which I love, I was ready to "move up" in the Taylor family of guitars. After some research I ordered the 314CE limited(Koa). Intially I loved the action and slinky feel. It felt as though I was playing an electric guitar. Unfortunately, when I compared it to my 110, it also sounded like an electric guitar that wasn't plugged in. I don't know about the standard(mahogany), but the 314CE Koa has NO bottom, none. It's just not there. I called Taylor, they were very helpful and suggested that it may be the shape and Koa contributing to this, and that maybe I should stick to dreadnaughts. Regardless, one should proceed with caution if you're used to any thumping low tones at all. Otherwise the guitar is beautiful, well made and obviously of very high quality. It's ashame that I can't wait to send it back. I have read tons of reviews of the guitar and not once was this mentioned. Has not a single other player noticed this?

Simply the Best for the Money

    By Toni Castoro

Comments about Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After trying out many acoustics and trying to settle on one that I could use for the rest of my life, I finally found the Taylor 314ce. Everything about this guitar is beautiful, the tone, the wood grain, the back and sides. This acoustic is solid, so don't worry about volume, it gets loud! As long as you don't skimp out on the strings (I use Elixirs) you can get amazing tones out of this acoustic. My favorite acoustic, it was without a doubt worth the price. Oh and it's a songwriting machine! I can't stop getting inspiration from this guitar. Taylor knows how to build professional level acoustics.

    Hard to Beat!

    By Cliff Lewis

Comments about Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I own a 2001 model 314ce, and it has been an incredible guitar. I use it constantly to lead worship services and practices. It sounds great all the time; plugged in or not. I have had very few problems with it, and all are surely due to normal wear and tear and are very minor. I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of it. I rated it a 9 on value because I could always wish for a little bit off the price tag, but honestly I don't think you could find any guitar that is better at this price. It's awesome!

    My Ultimate Acoustic

Comments about Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After having the Elixirs on for about two months, I decided they were too bright and too expensive for my tastes.
I switched to Ernie Ball Earthwoods, and went up to a 13-56 set because I tune down on many songs. I like the sound even more now. Less bright, more even tone.
Yes the Elixirs last longer, but not the E and B strings, so I end up changing them more frequently anyway.
Played this guitar along with other Taylors, Martin, Takamine, Ovation, etc. all in the price range.
Loved the feel and sound better than the others. My own personal opinion, of course.
But none of the others felt like an extension of myself like this guitar did.
What a well built instrument. It's the most expensive guitar I own, but it is by far the best.
Obviously I would have liked to pay less, maybe around $999. But really, the quality and sound makes it justifiable.

    Wow!!!!

Comments about Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Overall one of the best guitars I have ever played and/or owned. I own Martins, Guilds, Gibsons, Larrivees, and other Taylors. I have owned Colllings, Goodalls, and Huss&Dalton. I've been on a search for the Holy Grail for most of my guitar playing life and my search is over. The tone that emimates from this baby is nothing short of breathtaking. The sound is balanced, bright, and yet warm and intimate. It blends perfectly with my voice and has improved my sound and has gotten me many compliments even from those who hear me all the time. Since aquiring this instrument, I have sold over a dozen expensive guitars. This is a instrument you can coax a great sound out of and not wear yourself out playing. If left with only two guitars, it would be my Martin J-40 and and the 314ce. Thanks Taylor.
GREAT woods, plain, elegant, easy to sit with or stand with. Perfect neck and fingerboard combination. Smooth fingering and a wonderful feel. Finish has held up well - three years and still like new. Pretty good case. Would like to add a soft case for it.
A keeper for sure - will have it for life.

I bought this model guitar abouut 3 years ago, damaged with a few cracks on soundboard, one on back, and one on fretboard. Think its a year 2000 model. And it still plays very well except for i need to raise the bridge a hair. And its sound is still amazing, bottom line, i love this guitar!!

    not satisfied

    By rdraidr4lyf

Comments about Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

the co. i work for had bought a 314 and a 414, both of them new. first i'll say that the action is nice. and acoustic playing, -clean up and down. but plugged in, they both had little to NO GUTS when we used them at our show. poor mids, and way too bright as far as sound goes plugged in. our poor sound man was doing everything he could to help us, w/very little improvement. some say we need to switch pick-ups to LR Baggs, but i say that's just BS. you don't sell a guitar @ 1,600-1,800 for a sound that you could get by putting a mic to an electric guitar! absolutely unexeptable. for the price you could way get better quality w/Takamine...which is what we'll be pulling back out of the closet.

Comments about Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought a 314CE 3 years ago and gave it an excellent review and my opinion hasn't changed. I play it nearly every day and the finish hasn't worn as others have said. Keep a humidifier in the case and no worries. I also play a vintage Gibson J50 and a J200 but the 314CE is the one that's most enjoyable to play. You'll have a hard time finding a better guitar that's this affordable.

Comments about Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I been wanting this guitar for a long longe while, and after compiling the funds together I finally had my dreams meant. It is so totaly worth the money, and the expression system in it make it all the better. This is a great guitar for rythmic lines, as well some finger picking. It is really well balanced, with booming bass, and sparkling highs. When plugged in you don't lose the sound of guitar. It also doesn't distort when turned up. Overall this guitar is great all around. It is splentastic
