OVERVIEW

A finely-made performance guitar with a solid spruce top, sapele back and sides, and Taylor ES-N electronics.

The Taylor 314ce-N Sapele/Spruce Nylon String Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar offers the richness of the solid-wood acoustic experience. Sapele shares mahoganys lively tonal response and, together with a gloss-finish Sitka spruce top, rings out with a brightness and clarity that give these guitars a definitive Taylor voice. Black binding flanks sapeles ribbon-like grain, with large pearl fretboard dots adding a traditional touch.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
Body Width: 16" / Body Depth: 4 5/8" / Body Length: 20"
Taylors signature shape embodies the ultimate all-purpose acoustic.

The most popular and versatile body shape, the mid-size Grand Auditorium arrived in 1994 bearing refined proportions that fell between a Dreadnought and Grand Concert. While the bigger Dreadnought was traditionally considered a flatpickers guitar and the smaller Grand Concert catered to fingerstylists, the GA was designed to deliver on both fronts. The shape produced an original acoustic voice that was big enough to handle medium-strength picking and strumming, yet with impressive balance across the tonal spectrum, especially in the midrange, producing clear, well-defined notes that suited both strumming and fingerstyle playing. The GAs overall presence tracks well with other instruments both in a studio mix and on stage, and singer-songwriters have embraced its utility both for composing and traveling with one guitar. Many people want a single guitar that can cover a variety of styles, which is why the GA continues to be the bestselling shape. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the multi-dimensional GA wont let you down.

Sapele
Origin: West Africa
An alternative tonewood that joined the Taylor fold over a decade ago. Its sometimes mistakenly referred to as African mahogany because it closely resembles the West African wood khaya, which is commercially known as African mahogany. Sapele is a highly sustainable, relatively fast-growing wood. Tonally, it does everything that mahogany does, with a little extra treble zing.

Goes Well With: Everything. Like ovangkol, its a great all-purpose tonewood that will deliver a consistent, balanced tone in a variety of playing applications, from fingerstyle to strumming.

ES-N
Like the the ES-T, The ES-N is a single-source, under-saddle transducer, but the preamp design and tone controls were customized to complement the nylon-string voice. Standard ES control knobs enable plenty of tone-shaping and preserve the natural design aesthetic.

Comments about Taylor 314ce-N Sapele/Spruce Nylon String Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

With a good set of nylon strings this guitar REALLY sings. Even for the price paid I didn't expect such a nice instrument. This is my first Taylor guitar, and it won't be my last. The craftsmanship is outstanding on this instrument. It is fantastic for solo finger style playing. Some tools can make you better. This is one of them. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this playing machine.

No need to buy one again!!!!!

Comments about Taylor 314ce-N Sapele/Spruce Nylon String Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been play acoustic Guitars forty plus years. The sustain is amazing on the 314 ce-n grand auditorium!!
The frequency response is wide and very little right hand movement can create huge colour changes. At first I was alarmed about the neck NOT being standard Classical width?! But after playing for a few hours , I really loved how smooth and easy it was to play. I operate Harlow Sound and it will be a great studio guitar for players. Greg English
