The potent tone flatpickers and strummers love.
The most traditional of guitar shapes, Bob Taylor has evolved the Taylor Dreadnought over time to honor its enduring sonic heritage yet also refine the look and sound into a more modern package. The Taylor Dreadnought still boasts that powerful dreadnought tone that old school pickers expect, with deep lows and crisp highs, but with a voice that, like every Taylor, is more evenly balanced across the entire tonal spectrum. Perhaps more than any other shape, the Dreadnought remains linked with roots music like bluegrass and folk, in part because of its traditional role in defining those sounds. Pickers and strummers with an aggressive attack will love our Dreadnoughtâs blend of power and articulation, which allows for clear lead lines and crisp, driving rhythms.
Origin: West Africa
An alternative tonewood that joined the Taylor fold over a decade ago. Itâs sometimes mistakenly referred to as African mahogany because it closely resembles the West African wood khaya, which is commercially known as African mahogany. Sapele is a highly sustainable, relatively fast-growing wood. Tonally, it does everything that mahogany does, with a little extra treble zing. Weâll be able to offer it for a long, long time.
Goes Well With: Everything. Like ovangkol, itâs a great all-purpose tonewood that will deliver a consistent, balanced tone in a variety of playing applications, from fingerstyle to strumming.

Comments about Taylor 320 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Sapele Back/Sides Mahogany Top:
I decided to upgrade my Martin DX1ae to something a little more advanced, so I was looking at Taylors to see what the fuss was about. I tried all of the 200 series and even some 300 series and didn't like the tone. As expected, they were just too tinny and I'm so used to that rich Martin sound. I fell in love with the rich mahogany sound of this 320 and bought it within a week of playing it. The local shop gave me an amazing deal with a trade in and walked away with this beauty. I wish it had electronics, but I figured, I'm getting a much better guitar for the price as opposed to once of the 200e series guitars. This guitar stands out to the eyes and ears. I love the beautifully designed mahogany and sapele body, giving it a unique dark color that is rare in an acoustic. As for the sound, it's as if someone took all the deep rich sounds from a Martin and gave it that Taylor brightness. It is the best of both worlds and I am such a proud owner of this baby.
