Taylor's unique bridge and precision dressed fretboard are of silky ebony and the neck is tropical American mahogany. The quality of this guitar is in the sound it produces. I really don't think much of Taylor's Expression System; it's awkward to use, but this guitar is a gem. I never heard of ovankol before trying this one out. It's great. The sounds seems to jump right out at you amidst the sparkle and clarity. For stage, recording or just plain getting lost in a "tune", this is a well made, great sounding instrument.
I would rate the value higher if the guitar had different electronics.
I own several acoustic guitars one being a martin d16 cutaway maghony and a Blueridge br160 and have found the martin a ease to play with great bass and strong on the bottom but when plugged into any sound system the prefix plus was very disapointing, and found using a mic in the sound hole to be more realistic. on the other hand when playing the Blueridge or a d28 Martin that you would have to use a Pa in order to get above the volume of both guitars.Well the Taylor 410ce on the other hand does everything right from great volume great bass and awesome highs and plugged in a natural sound that passes everything i have ever played. The Taylor expression system is the best I have ever played. I like this Guitar and feel that I have finally found one that does everything right.
