This ornate grand symphony is both powerful and articulate.

The Taylor 616ce Grand Symphony is a cutaway acoustic-electric guitar that features the distinctive blend of big leaf maple and Sitka spruce. These tonewoods create a bright, crystalline timbre with strong projection and warm overtones. It's a combination that truly 'cuts through'. The 616ce Grand Symphony is adorned with pearl leaf pattern fingerboard inlays, gold-plated Taylor tuners, and an abalone rosette. Equipped with Taylor Expression System electronics and a Venetian cutaway that gives full fretboard access, the 616ce guitar has the tools to shine in any music venue.

Though you might see similarities to a Grand Auditorium, the Grand Symphony guitar is unique in both sound and shape. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper more piano-like bass. A wider lower bout and higher, wider waist return ample volume and low-end sustain in symphony with fuller mids and balanced highs.

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The finish used to create the Taylor 616ce guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Comments about Taylor 600 Series 616ce Grand Symphony Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2010 Model):

Great Guitar at a great price. Was looking for electric-accoustic and this fills the bill. Was concerned about electric connection. Called Musician Friend, and they did not know. Went to Musician Friend web site, and nothing. Went to Taylor website and nothing. Called Taylor but they close on the weekend. Called on Monday and they had the answer. It was amazing that there were NO PICTURES of the bottom of the guitar that showed the connection, and NOWHERE was there any information about the type of connection.

      Awesome 616!!!!

Comments about Taylor 600 Series 616ce Grand Symphony Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2010 Model):

This guitar is awesome. I now have my sights on a matching 12 string by Taylor (656). The 616 body is great. I can go from flat picking, to finger picking, to crazy strumming (Pete Townsend) and the guitar sounds awesome every time. Taylor's expression system is very good. I plugged in the guitar and I told the sound guy I set it all in the middle and we will tweak from there. The was no tweaking required. this guitar was literally plug and play. Overall the cost is a little steep but it is well worth it. Playing in church I needed an instrument that I could use not matter the style of playing that is needed and this Taylor 616 fit the bill. In my opinion, the Taylor 614 is great for moderate strumming and some picking, the 612 is great for picking and not so great for strumming, the 615 is a great strummer but lacks when it comes to picking, the 616 is the best of both worlds. I played each one to compare and found the 616 with the maple/spruce to be bright, airy, and could take anything I could throw at it.
The Taylor 616 sings!!! The features on this guitar are fantastic! The inlays, wood selection, body style and pickup system are second to none. I play multiple times a week for a local church and the first day I brought it and plugged in the sound was amazing. The pastor of the church happened to be around and mentioned that he could hear a difference immediately. That being said many might say "well yeah if you were playing a cheap pawn shop guitar and then went to a Taylor you would have a difference". I have been playing for more than 15 years and I have some very good acoustics I play. Including a Larrivee OM, Guild Dreadnought (pre fender) and a nice Seagull Mini jumbo all with LR Baggs Pickups. So to notice instantaneously a sound difference in the house is something.
Fit and finish were spectacular. The guitar arrived (4 business days, Thanks MF) and after a tune up it sang!!! Taylor makes fine instruments and the quality they put into a guitar is spectacular. They stand behind their product and it shows. The warranty is good but if the guitar is taken care of you should never need to use it. The quality of this instrument is very good
This is the only area that I would mark Taylor guitars down. The higher end guitars (5 series and up) are not cost effective for most people. That being said this guitar is one that I have no plans to ever get rid of so a one time financial hit to me is acceptable.
