OVERVIEW

The brilliant tone and appearance of a first-rate maple body.

With the Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar the bold sounds of big leaf maple and Sitka spruce are enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body design. Together the woods create a bright, crystalline timbre with outstanding projection and warm overtones.

The bright tone of this Taylor guitar is further enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body style with its Venetian cutaway. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The 614-CE Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

Appointments include an ebony headstock overlay, a beautiful abalone rosette, white binding, and artful abalone fretboard inlays.

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Taylor Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Part of me wants to pick this guitar up and never put it down. Another part of me wants to simply stare at the incomparable fit and finish of the big-leaf maple and begin thanking my lucky stars that I'm in a position to own something like this. I won't rehash what dozens of other reviewers have already said about specific features and playability -- those factors are already widely known. I'll just confine it to this one simple comment: never have I owned a product of any kind that seems to call to me to use it. I can be reading or eating lunch or watching TV, and I'll think of my Taylor 614ce's gorgeous voice, and I'll find myself slowly opening the case, and gasping at its beauty.

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I bought this guitar 2 years ago, and while the price of it had me eating ramen noodles for six months I couldnt be happier with my purchase. The tone is unreal, the feel is out of this world, and the sheer beauty of this guitar takes my breath away on a daily basis. It sounds awesome unplugged and with the taylor expression system that awesome tone carries through plugged in. I have never been disappointed by my taylor! Its the last acoustic guitar I'll ever need. It has everything...absoloutely everything. Taylor really knows how to make a quailty instrument.

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I was looking at the Martin JC-16ME and still am digging it because I already have a martin and might want this one just a little but thats just my taste. It is made from the same wood and the same feel and looks similar. I am planning on getting this one because the taylor company uses environment friendly finishes and the wood is used from fallen trees. Every company should be like that. Taylor's are a different animal and more modern to my eye. The guitars action is fast and the sound doesn't weaken as you hit the higher frets. It does look like that because the wood around the sound hole isn't rounded on the edges that makes the wood look thicker. Next time you buy think of the environment and think about the sound and the easy action. it plays like an electric unplugged. If you find the sound to bright and not full enough get the taylor Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium it sounds like a dreadnought. This does on the other hand pick up on the highs and the lows. Grand auditoriums project very well with a full band and I think this will do better with the maple. I hope the price lowers so I wont have to buy used but I am trying to buy one brand new off this site.

Amazing

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

Anyone thinking about buying this guitar should definitely stop thinking and buy it. I do agree that it is expensive but coming from someone who has owned more guitars than I should share, this is bar none one of the best I've ever purchased (coming in second to a 1970s Gibson my dad gave me from his college days). The details are pure perfection being stunning but not gaudy. The Big Leaf maple is unique and brings an incredible boom and snappier sound than that of a rosewood guitar (usually a bit more mellow). One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I sold my motorcycle to purchase this guitar. I have absolutely no regrets. Everyone that sees it is struck by the blue finish. This is a very beautiful guitar, and it plays as well as it looks. Our sound guys at church love how easy it mixes with our board and they can't get over the amazing sound. I haven't picked up my Stratocaster since this arrived. You get what you pay for.

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

Those that don't like the expression system - try this. Listen to your guitar UNPLUGGED. Now plug it in. Does it sound the same? THE TAYLOR DOES. END OF STORY.The only people who don't like it are so used to piezo sound that they have forgotten what an acoustic guitar is supposed to sound like.I love mine and wouldn't trade it for any "custom" guitar.

The end all acoustic/electric

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I own one & it has it all - beauty, tone, playability, superb electronics, records & gigs well. You can't do better. It has a smaller body than a dreadnought and a cutaway & wide neck, which lends itself to fingerpicking. The maple back & sides give great tone that blends well. It also has extremely wide dynamic range - you can play it soft & sweet or spank it hard & it always sounds great - sweet, full, and pretty. The best investment I ever made & I'll never give up mine.

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

Not that I make it a habit of sniffin guitars, but open the case after it's been in there for a while and, well you'll see. This is the best acoustic I have ever played! I wanted a professional guitar to start pursuing my professional music carrer, and after this guitar I didn't play any other acoustics in my search. Three months of lawawy payments were well worth it. No, not pro yet but i'm workin on it.

Quite Simply the Finest Guitar I've Ever Owned

By Proud & Happy Taylor Owner

from El Dorado Hills, CA

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I've been playing acoustic guitar for about 35 years, gradually working my way up the guitar food chain, quality-wise, as my budget would allow. I have finally reached the top with the Taylor 614-CE. I played many guitars in my search, and knew from the moment that I first strummed the 614-CE that it was something very special. This guitar is a joy to the eye and ear, and plays beautifully. I was recently at a recording studio to add an acoustic guitar track to a recording being made by some friends. As the engineer was preparing to set up some of his expensive condenser mics to record me, I convinced him to try the guitar plugged straight into the board using the Expression System. We were all blown away by the sound, which faithfully reproduced all of the nuances of the acoustic guitar sound. Yes, this guitar is expensive. Yes, it's worth it.

Comments about Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I have played this guitar quite a few times through a PA, direct, no preamps or toneshapers. INCREDIBLE. The expression system doesn't just reproduce the acoustic tone, it makes it better. More sustain, more highs, more lows, and absolutely zero of the quack and "electric" sounds of other pickups. Simply beautiful and now i can't play anything else without thinking of the last time i plugged in this guitar. However, if you don't plan on playing it electrically, don't buy. Its good unplugged, but certainly not the best. But however, stage musicians, this is the pinnacle.
