OVERVIEW

Innovations in construction and delicate details make this First Edition Taylor a must-have.

This First Edition Cutaway Grand Symphony marks the debut of Taylor' revoiced maple 600 Series, featuring a package of tone-enhancing refinements that transform maple' historically bright tone profile into a richer, warmer and more complex voice.

Among the design nuances are Adirondack spruce Advanced Performance bracing, which features a maple-specific back bracing profile that enhances the guitar' responsiveness; the use of protein glues to optimize the tonal transfer between key wood components; and a thin, 3.5-mil gloss finish to minimize dampening.

A hand-rubbed œBrown Sugar color treatment on the back and sides gives maple' striking figure a burnished copper glow without adding extra thickness to the finish. The Sitka spruce top is specially seasoned using torrefaction, a roasting process that helps produce an aged tonal character marked by greater acoustic resonance and responsiveness.

Featured appointments include ivoroid Wings fretboard inlays; an inlaid ebony backstrap; and an additional headstock inlay on this First Edition model.

Other standout details include ebony binding with ivoroid body purfling; an ebony rosette edged in ivoroid; a striped ebony pickguard; Taylor nickel tuners; and Taylor' Expression System 2 acoustic electronics. The guitar includes a First Edition label and a deluxe hardshell case with a commemorative First Edition nameplate.

Comments about Taylor 616ce First Edition Cutaway Grand Symphony Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a beautiful guitar and I was lucky to get a first edition. The low action makes it very easy to play and the guitar has a very distinctive voice. It plays well strummed or flat-picked and is truly a guitar that actually sounds great both unplugged or plugged-in. The torrefied spruce top is outstanding, and almost has a percussive sound to it, and the resonance and sustain are outstanding. The maple back and sides are gorgeous, and the craftsmanship is superb. I was intending to buy another major brand of guitar but wanted something that was distinctive in looks and sound and I was intrigued after reading about the newly revoiced Taylor 600 series. I picked the 616ce model because it was supposed to be a good mix between a broader more complex voice and a higher treble, and the guitar sounds as advertised. I also liked the idea of using sustainable woods. This is the first Taylor guitar that I have bought, and the first through Musician's Friend. It arrived quickly and was very well packed and protected. It is definitely worth the price and a joy to play.

Comments about Taylor 616ce First Edition Cutaway Grand Symphony Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Not my first Maple back and sides guitar. I bougt a Guild G45 in 1992 that I still have. It is a good guitar but a little sharp. This Taylor has fixed the problem. Sounds great unplugged. Loud voice, great bass, a pleasure to play. I am a Taylor fan. All my Martins are in the closet. I now own 4 Taylors. I nomally mike the guitar instead of using the ES system.
