Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I never had the kind of experience with an acoustic I have thus far had with this guitar in terms of not wanting to put it down. The tone right out of the box was just outstanding; terrific action makes this Taylor so easy to play.

I previously had a 614ce that I ended up selling. It was a stunning guitar to look at, but the sound was not quite what I was looking for. Nor was I interested in all of the extra "bling" on the guitar. I had previously looked into a Taylor with the Engelmann top, but could never pull the trigger on one. The recent MF sale pushed me over the edge and I can honestly say my days of thinking about obtaining another acoustic (electric) guitar are over. I highly recommend this guitar.

Nice, but not like the old ones

      By nerular

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I own a 710CE from 1999 and while the electronics on these new ones are fantastic, the quality of the wood is just not the same as the red cedar top on mine. I believe the top wood is stronger now, but doesn't have the warmth of the old ones. It's a balance of sound and durability. Overall, a fantastic guitar if you have dollars to spend. Personally, I believe Taylor prices just a bit high.

      Amazing Tone

      By lovemytaylor

      from The Dalles, OR

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I have had my Taylor 710ce since January of 2007, and it is just a great guitar. I use my guitar for leading a worship band, and so it gets used 3-4 days out of the week, but has never given me a single ammount a grief. It has great tone, and it's stability in tuning is just amazing. My Martin is the only other guitar I have owned that stayed in tune as well. The playability of this guitar is incredible. I got it set up when I bought it, and once again when I moved from CO to OR, but the action and the ease of play is amazing. I play the guitar through the house, using a Boss Chromatic tuner and a monster cable (I do not use the cable that came with the guitar), but the clarity and the natural tonation even with this format is an incredible testimony to the expression system in the guitar. If you have been looking for the guitar you will go the the grave with...this may be the one for you! It will be for me. I was waffling between the Martin Aura, and the 710ce...absolutely NO regrets.

So nice to own a fine guitar.

      By Donincal

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I bought my 710ce three years ago and I love it. I got it new but it had sat in the store in Sacramento for two years. It was the last year Taylor put the Fishman sound system in. It plays so nice and has a great sound with or without an amp. When friends come over to play they all want a turn to play it. I always wanted a really nice acoustic and now I'm set. I'll never need to upgrade. I love it.

13 years of bliss with a Dreadnought

      By old school guitarist

      from Big Bear Lake California

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I bought my Taylor 710 the day it arrived in Covina California. Alan Lane was actually playing it, and admiring the exceptional tone this guitar had. He was right the guitar I had placed a special order on was unreal, it was a little unusual in that it has a three piece back. But the depth and range of this guitar made it mine the first minute I played it.Before I bought the Taylor I looked at Goodall's, Collings, Santa Cruz, Martins. All up and down the price range and nothing struck me the way the 710 had. I know we all have our own taste, but this was a match in heaven for me. The guitar is a true work of art, and still sounds great. In fact so great I more recently traded a Martin in for for a 714ce, and am probably going to end up with the 712ce as well. I'll repeat as others have said "this is a guitar to grow old with not a guitar to grow out of" I've had mine since 03/04/1994, and I still find what I'm feeling when I play this beauty. As a last note, I've been playing since 1962, and have had some great guitars, but the Taylor's continue to impress me in their quality in construction, very expressive sound, and beauty.

      Craftmanship excellence...

      By onoTarh

      from Temple City, CA

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

If you've played it, you can't do anything but buy it. It's just that great! Craftmanship is amazing... only trumped by it's angelic sound. Tone, clarity and sustain is astronomical. No, I don't work for Taylor and am not affiliated in anyway, other than the fact that they blessed me with such a great musical instrument. The rosewood and spruce's grain is so tight and resonant that it makes you wonder if they're master grade. The genius combination of rosewood and Engelmann spruce makes the bright sound of Taylor guitars into a full sounding guitar, rivaling any high end Martin. Deep bass, strong mid-range and bright trebles are the voice of this guitar. Wait 'till you plug it in! The best pickups ever... Taylor Expression System. Just look it up and all it's amazing technologies, using multiple pickups, from under the bridge, to dynamic sensors placed strategically around the body. Pick one up, play it; then plug it in. It speaks louder than my words ever can. When they say quality guitars, they mean it!

tone and clarity to die for

      By shane-v-4w5

      from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

i went out searching for a guitar that was richer and more full in tone, but with good clarity. i was searching for something under a grand. i was planning on getting a lower end martin. i went to a couple of guitar shops and played a good grip of guitars. i wasnt satisfied i played Takamine, seagull, ibanez, Tacoma, and martin in all of the price ranges. the martins were nice sounding but kind of muddy (even the higher priced d-35 and d28)., nothing to marvel at. i thought to myself is this all there is out there? then as i was walking out i picked up a taylor 110 i was really impressed, so impressed that i took that guitar home that day. the tone was just great. after a week or so i noticed the guitar had no back bracing at all. so i took that one back (i wanted a guitar to last a lifetime). so i thought if they put craftsmanship that good in their lower-end guitars then their higher-end guitars are probably just perfect. so i took the 110 back and i tried the 310,410,510,610, 810 and the 910 they were all great guitars ( tone was much better on them and more fancy details). i almost decided on the 410ce because the tone on it was just perfect. until i saw a 710ce in the upper corner just hiding away from the others. so i picked it up, and it sent the 410 to its grave. marvelous action. tone was bright with well pesented bass, and clarity to die for. great for light to heavy stumming and great for fingerstyle playing.Taylor has just made a new fan. if you dont want to spend the 2 and a half grand then dont pick up a 710ce you will fall in love.

      Sounds like heaven.

      By Jimbalaya007

      from Western New York

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I searched for my dream guitar for months. I sat in several guitar shops for hours testing and listening. I mean I tried every acoustic I could get my hands on. Martins, Tacomas, Takamines, Taylors, Seagulls...you name it and I tried it. The truth is I never thought I'd buy a Taylor simply because of the price. I thought I could find one "close" to the sound without paying the price. When I picked up this fairly plain looking 710CE (don't get me wrong, it's beautiful but not frilly with all the inlays that some guitars have), I looked at my wife immediately and smiled intensely. I couldn't put it down. It's like my ears were smiling. The depth, clarity, volume, and quality of tone that this guitar puts out it just amazing. And it sounds so alive! The lows, mids, and highs are very balanced. Hands down it is the fullest sound of any acoustic I've ever played. A week later, after more testing, I came back to the 710 only to dream while I continued my search for a less expensive guitar. My wife saw my desire for this guitar and bought it for me. I will owe her for the rest of my life. All I can say is...try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

An acoustic to hold on to

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

Before deciding to buy my first acoustic guitar, I read all the reviews for every mid range acoustic/acoustic electric on this site, and many others. I checked the specifications, and made a list of the guitars i was serious about buying. The dean exotica rse, mid range martins, takamines, and breedlove atlases all made the list. However, none of my research could have prepared me for what i heard when i went to my local music store to play all of these options. On a whim i decided to compare what i heard in the aformentioned mid range models, to pretty much every upper range offering from pretty much every guitar maker in the business. I was presented with a taylor 710 ce, and at first its clarity was a little shocking, but going back to any other guitar, the sound simply seemed dead. I couldn't put the taylor down. Acoustic, or plugged in what i heard that day, made me purchase a guitar in a range well beyond what i intended. But what i realized is that i was purchasing a guitar for life, and not only for a couple years until i could a really great guitar. If you want a guitar to grow old with, instead of one to grow out of, buy a 700 series taylor. You won't be disappointed.

A decade of joy and counting...

      By journeywork

Comments about Taylor 710ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I've had a Taylor 710 for 10 years now, and it continues to delight me every time I pick it up. The neck is fast and easy to play, the tone is rich and warm and well-balanced, and the craftsmanship is outstanding. These folks love what they do. With the addition of the new neck technology and the ES system (innovations developed after I bought mine), you are in for even more of a treat.Complaints? Only that it's such a perfect guitar that I don't have an excuse to buy another one. Be prepared to fall in love.
