A beautiful instrument with a spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and Taylor Expression System electronics.
For many guitar players, Indian rosewood is what it’s all about. Taylor offers this classic tonewood in three premium classes, starting with the 700 Series. The Taylor 2012 712ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar has a spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides. The Taylor Expression System provides the perfect conduit for amplifying this Grand Concert's intimate yet full sound. Plugged in or not, this rosewood guitar will fill the room with strong bass response and amazing projection. It also features ivoroid binding, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, abalone rosette and Venetian cutaway that make this Taylor a timeless statement of tone and taste.
The warm, responsive tone of the spruce enhances the rich, full overtones of Indian rosewood in this classic tonewood pairing.
Grand Concert (GC)
This shape defines intimacy in its size and sound. The GC is dynamically responsive to a lighter touch and is well-suited for fingerpicking. With clarity and balance, it’s also perfect for mic’ing and home recording.
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound. It’s your tone. Amplified.
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes. Available in natural finish.
Enjoy signature Taylor tone and playability. Order today.

Comments about Taylor 712ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
My 712ce is a 2002 model so the specs -- scale length and body depth -- are somewhat different from the 2012 version. Mine also came with the Fishman electronics but I upgraded to the ES system fairly quickly. This is my go-to acoustic/electric for open mics, gigs, anything where I'm going to be playing through a PA. Feedback is easy to control with the small body and ES electronics. The tone is classic Taylor and will cut through the mix just fine. Unplugged, the 712ce is a great guitar for late night picking in yoiur living room or other intimate setting. And you CAN do even fairly heavy strumming on it but forget about acoustic jamming with dreads or jumbos; they'll blow you out of the water. The finish can get a little slick when you get sweaty, which is a slight annoyance. Besides this, I also have a Collings OM2-HA and a Martin D-18. For what I use it for, this is my favorite acoustic.
