Gorgeous appointments with the complex timbre of solid spruce and rosewood.

The Taylor 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar gives you amazingly warm, deep sound. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides sharpen the rich overtones and dark humors of the solid Sitka spruce top for a tonal palette of stunning breadth. The model brings new mother-of-pearl inlays on the bound ebony fretboard, as well as the familar abalone rosette, 5-ply purfling with maple binding, abalone peg inlays, and gold-plated Taylor tuners with gold buttons that impart luxurious visual splendor. Expression System electronics are on board for peerless stage performance.

    Indian Rosewood/Sitka
Indian rosewood seems as if it was created to be on a guitar. The clarity, balance, sustain, excellent bass response, and wonderful coloration and figure are without equal. Paired with Sitka spruce, it is an unstoppable combination.

    Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylor’s most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle to full-blown strumming. Great for mic’ing and recording, the GA’s balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

    Expression System®
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound. It’s your tone. Amplified.

    Gloss
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes. Available in natural finish.

Comments about Taylor 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've got the 2011 model; This was a custom ordered 814ce and sounds way better to me than others I've played. The tone is amazing, smooth in tone and smooth to play, as the action is superb. Great bass response and clear distinct highs. The previous owner installed a bone nut and saddle. Inlays
perfect and rosewood grain beautiful. This one did not come withe the ES system, which I am not a fan of. LR Baggs Anthem system installed.
All around, a keeper for life!

Comments about Taylor 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'll admit, I have nearly been a Martin snob ever since I could afford to buy one. I have owned 5 Martins, including the GPCPA1. The GPCPA1 was not my favorite Martin. I gave it to my son. I decided to try the Taylor 814CE. I've never had or played a Taylor before. I think I'm in love again! For the body shape, it has surprisingly good bass, it is well ballanced and has great tone.
There is one thing that Martin does better. The arrangement of the Jack on the bottom of the guitar does not allow for installing Strap Locks.

                A Great Guitar!

Comments about Taylor 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I started with this guitar in 1997 and after seeking the holy grail over the last 15 years came back to it. It is simply the best guitar for what I do. I am playing out live plugged in and often sans talented sound guy. Unlike other high end guitars I have tried, the 814 gets her done without ANY issues- night after night. This is a performing musician's guitar. If I had the dough, I would own a J45 and a D28 for living room or porch playing, but I would play my Taylor when I needed a serious performing guitar.

This is by far the best acoustic i have ever played!! Its incredible. Taylor's workmanship is just incredible. It has a satin finish on the neck so your hands can easily slide on it without that sticky feeling you get with some acoustic guitars. I do a lot of lead work, and barre chords, so it is especially useful for me. It is so easy to play!! It has a gorgeous sound, so rich and beautiful, each note is so clear.

It is worth every penny i paid. if it broke i would buy another one!! Thank you Taylor!!

(Acoustically)The day I got this guitar, I immediately fell in love with it. My friend has this exact guitar, so I figured maybe I'd get one. I love this guitar, because it is so comfortable, I love the wood choice, it flows beautifully, I love the balance of treble and bass, and I love the gloss finish.

(Electrically) I love the electronics, because there is everything right there. My guitar is perfect for me. There is no feedback what-so-ever. I see nothing wrong with it at all. It doesn't sound at all different plugged in or unplugged. Taylor is the way to go.

Been playing guitar and writing songs for 40 years now. I've had Martins and Gibsons...never a Taylor. Lately though, I've been playing an 814CE at a local shop. I have to have it. It's hands-down the finest guitar I've ever played. Tone is perfect, action comfortable and light, and the workmanship is second to none. Just a fantastic guitar. I thought my Martin EC28 was nice. Wow, this Taylor just blows that Martin away. No hard feelings, this Taylor is just like finding an old friend. I'll have this 814 in my studio very soon.

Comments about Taylor 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Hands down, the best acoustic guitar I've ever played. The tone is well balanced and the neck is the most comfortable I've ever wrapped my hand around. My 814ce has venician rosewood sides and back. Not sure what difference is, if any, to indian rosewood but it sounds great. I love the maple binding as opposed to the usual plastic. Over all, this guitar is an absolute pleasure to play. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like ten years from now.
The expression system is supprisingly simple yet functional.
What can I say...It's a Taylor! In itself, a working piece of art.
It's a bit pricey but with Taylor you get what you pay for.
