Don't Forget

Top of the line features and innovations.

The lavish redesign of Taylor's most sophisticated class of rosewood guitars blends the same voicing enhancements first introduced on Taylor’s iconic 800 Series with a finely calibrated aesthetic makeover. The result is a luxurious look that delivers premium-grade tonal complexity. Impeccably rendered appointments strike an elegant balance between wood and abalone shell trim, with ebony binding and koa purfling framing colorful abalone. The contoured ebony armrest embodies the highest levels of woodworking, enhances the playing comfort, and bolsters the tonal output by reducing the damping effect one’s strumming arm might otherwise have on the top. The three-way harmony of looks, feel and sound makes any 900 Series guitar hard to put back in its case.

Grand Auditorium
A Taylor original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice. Taylor's popular 914ce offers players the ultimate all-purpose guitar. Its balance, warmth and articulation are great for fingerstyle, it has enough punch as a strummer to front a band, and the top-end power will fuel lead runs without getting shrill. It' a great choice for a gigging player looking for one guitar that can cover it all.

Tonewood pairing
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides complement the Sitka top with sound that's made it one of the most popular tone woods ever. Rosewood produces the strongest bass response among the tone woods commonly used for guitars, with a slightly scooped midrange. Rosewood's sweeping frequency range - deep lows that assert a throaty growl with sparkling highs - rings out with bell-like, high-fidelity clarity. It yields a full-range acoustic voice with complex overtones and extended sustain.

Expression System 2
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly whether playing acousticly or plugged-in. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before while playing plugged-in. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, and active bass and treble controls.

Other Features
Custom-calibrated wood thicknesses and bracing for each body shape, 3.5 mil finish thickness, protein glue (bracing and bridge), ebony armrest, paua/koa trim (on top, back, sides, fretboard/extension, peghead and armrest), single-ring paua rosette edged with koa and ebony, abalone/pearl "Ascension" fingerboard inlay, ebony binding.

Comments about Taylor 900 Series 914CE High Performance Package Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am doing this updated review in regard to the original quite negative review I did regarding my 914ce. I have indeed had problems with the ES systems with all of my Taylor guitars. Most were repaired to my satisfaction under the factory warranty with no issues and I opted to just go with a Baggs M1 soundhole pickup on my 314ce. The original ES electronics on my 914ce failed and were replaced under the warranty.. however the replacement system was terrible. I was quite upset to say the least- henceforth my bad review. Now the good - Out of the blue, Glen Wolff from Taylor Guitars contacted me and has gone far beyond the scope of their normal warranty (which I actually signed off on after the last repair) by offering a new and improved preamp for my 914ce. I have never experienced a guitar company having this much concern for me as customer. I am impressed..and quite confident that the issue will my issues will be resolved. Will I buy another Taylor guitar.. You bet :)

Comments about Taylor 900 Series 914CE High Performance Package Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Not only does this guitar look beautiful with the pearl inlays but sounds fantastic both on the amp or off. The machine heads have a low gear ration for finer tuning and the intonation is right on. Taylor really lives up to their reputation on the 914.

Comments about Taylor 900 Series 914CE High Performance Package Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is my second 914ce. My first one was a 2010, but due to some financial trouble when my wife was pregnant with our first son, I decided to sell it to bail us out. This year, my wife surprised me with a new one as an early birthday present (I know, I'm pretty lucky).

This guitar has the best looks, the highest quality craftsmanship, and the best sound I could ever have imagined in a guitar, and I have been playing for 34 years. Every time I pull it out of the case it looks and sounds perfect. Can't say anything negative.

One other thing I have noticed. I used to go into guitar center and play guitars all the time, dreaming about having a top-of-the line martin or taylor. Now, though, there is no need to do that. Once you have the very best of the best, what's the point of playing anything else? Get one if you have the money. If you don't, get the money and get one.
