Had it for about two years, and i still love it. Over time the solid spruce top has mellowed out and the sound is sooo resonant. Every chord sounds like gold......which is where this guitar has a bit of a downfall. The sound is very bright which, as mentioned above, results in beautiful sounding chords and such. But for finger picking it really lacks the depth and warmth needed to make every note shine. This could also be due in part to the smaller body size, which ill get into later. But for strumming and nailing those epic chords, this(as is the case with all other taylors) is the perfect guitar. As far as playability goes, action on mine came right in between too low, and too high-which isnt exactly a good thing. You can pretty much forget about any kind of bending and such, but there is still quite a bit of fret buz in the higher frets. But this is nothing a few little adjustments cant take care of.Quality...hmmm....i wanna say amazing, but after about six months of use, i began to notice little hairline cracks in the fretboard. They don't affect the playability at all, but the fact that they are there is a tad questionable. Im also not too keen on the two screws that apparently hold the fretboard in place-certainly unorthodox, but sound and playability are not affected. And finally the body-it is apparently obvious that this is a small guitar, which affects the tone slightly, along with the loudness of it. It looks great-very classy-but if i was looking to buy this i would save up the extra hundred or so and get the 110-essentially the same guitar in a full size body. But i guess it all comes down to personal opinion. So if your in the market for just a no nonsense acoustic guitar that sounds good, this one is definately worth a trip to the music store. Just be sure that your okay with the smaller body, as you will either love it or hate as time goes on. But if the body size doesnt effect you, than by all means get this guitar without hesitation.

So i bought this guitar 5 months ago and it sounded great, really bright sound. It was also pretty loud for a small guitar but then one day the top began coming off the side. Now since it was still under warrenty i though I would be able to get a new one since it was a manufacturers defect however the guitar was deemed by taylor to be "dried out". I have plenty of guitars that I have had for years that have never been "dried out" so this is bull. DO NOT BUY

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

For such a small body and a price to go with it this guitar is excellent for anyone who is just starting or has been playing for a while. Being in the Navy I bought it because of it's size and everyone that plays it is impressed with the sound it produces. It has a nice bright rich tone. I recommend light elixir strings for it. I tried mediums and it takes away from the sound in my opinion. Keep playing and have fun.

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I have a Martin DXM and have loved it. When i played the Taylor Big Baby i had to have it, there was no comparison with the DXM! I also own a D-18 Martin and the Big Baby plays right with it! I've played it with D-28s as well and it sounds just as good with just as much tone and volume! I can't get over it. Without a doubt the best guitar on the market for the price.

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I have played alot of guitars but none have sounded as sweet as this one. When I saw the guitar I really thought I would have problems getting a good tone out of the smaller body. Boy was I wrong. This guitar puts out some great tones and it is so easy to play.

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I bought my Taylor about five years ago and the guitar plays better every year. It seems like the more I play it the better the quality of sound it has. I wanted the taylor sound without the cost and the Big Baby has it. My favorite aspect of the guitar is the comfort of the guitar. It feels awesome in my hands. I would recommend the Big Baby for everyone.

Picked up this lovely guitar in the store just out of curiosity expecting not much from it and I ended up leaving with it. This is THE PERFECT ACOUSTIC and at a ridiculously affordable price, excellent action, sound and finish. So if you're looking for a good sounding guitar with good action and can't afford those $1,000 ones, THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I don't own this, but I borrowed it from a friend. I was ready to buy but then he decided he liked it too much to sell it. It's a great guitar. My brother has a 310 from Taylor, and the only real differences are that it's not as pretty as that one (that doesn't matter to me) and the sound is just LITTLE bit less full. If you're on a limited budget like me this is the guitar for you.

The Big Baby is right on the money.

By dssjohnny

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I went to a local guitar store the other day looking for an entry level guitar for my 12 year old son. While he's able to play my full-sized acoustic and electric guitars, I wanted something that sounded good and was easy to carry around and just his size. I tried 25+ guitars in all price ranges from nice Martins to Ovations (not impressed at all) and everything in between and the Big Baby sounded the BEST of all. It has a HUGE and rich sound for any size. With Elixir strings the tone and quality will blow you away. Whether you're picking individual strings or playing chords you can't go wrong with this guitar.

A beginner with a new big baby

By Guitar GIrl

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

As a female I was looking for a comfortable fitting acoustic along with a price I could afford for my first guitar. I was actually looking for the martin 000-X1. My husband, a very talented guitarist/singer songwriter, was very excited to see my recent intrest in learning guitar. I did a lot of research on my own. I asked my husband his opinion only after I tried the two on my own. I knew I was instantly hooked on the Big Baby Taylor. My husband owns a Taylor 310 CE and when he picked up the Big Baby he was quite surprised at how bright the sound was and how wonderful the action was for a smaller sized less expensive Taylor acoustic. Needless to say our Big Baby is our latest addition to our family and I have been practicing everyday. I have a funny feeling when I am not around someone else is enjoying playing my Big Baby as well. I can't say enough about it. My only complaint. The gig bag is a very tight fit, becareful not to catch the guitar in the zipper or it will get scratched. I am looking into a hard case for mine. I also wish I would have started playing a long time ago. Thanks Taylor! And my inspiraton (My Husband).

Tone Quality and Value

By STLouisGuitarPlayer

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I was in Guitar Center in St. Louis MO. last saturday. I was looking to get some more pro audio gear for my pro tools studio purchased there a few months ago. i just happened to stroll into the acoustic guitar room and started playing everything they had. The minute I picked up the Big Baby though I couldn't put the guitar down. The sound, feel and price had me locked in from the minute I played my first note. I was looking for a great sounding guitar and really had my mind made up on buying a hi-end Martin. After comparing side by side, the hi-end Martin sounded muddy and way too bassy for me. The Taylor has a great all around sound and their midrange sound is unbelievable. Great sustain and when using it with pro tools, needs very little eq. All I have to say is G-tar done. This axe will blow you away.

From 1st to last

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

Ok heres how this goes. I just started playing guitar maybe about a half a year ago maybe more. I decided to get a nice guitar that would last me for a while, easy enough to play, sound good and not have me take out a home equity loan. The Big Baby is what I chose and I can not believe my eyes and ears. In plain enlish so even a new guitarest can understand I would like to highlight some key stuff for a buyer. First the sound quiality is incredible. I have friends who play $1400 martins and still like the Big Baby better as so do I. Bright, clean and inviting is what this guitar is all about. Second the smaller size makes it great to carry around, play on your couch, bed or where ever! Its so light it is a pleasure to pick up anywhere. Third I would like to mention the wood. Although the wood is what it gives it its sweet and beautiful tone it IS VERY SOFT! I actually have indents of the coins in pocket on the bottom of my guitar. It is very soft but with a little tender love and care you can keep it lookin new. Fourth of all the gig bag is amazing. Neat pockets on the inside and a nice size pouch on the outside. DURABLE if i may add. Built thick to protect your investment. Lastly I would like to give some advise. The guitar comes with .12 guauge elixer strings. Trust Taylors judgement on this one. I one day I baught 13 gauge not realizing and found that thicker strings do not do this guitar justice. Even the musically inept senced the difference in the sound and noticed how...unpleasent the thicker strings made the guitar sound. My opinion and advise 12 gauge or lower for the taylor. Overall this is my 1st and last acoustic i think i will ever need. I hope new guitarest found some helpfull hints in my review. Likewise I would recomend this guitar to even the most experienced of players. Play on!

Best Guitar for The Money

By Jason Culp

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I have owned one of these for almost 4 yrs now and it is by far the best money I have ever spent on anything. You will NOT find a better sounding guitar for the money. I shopped dozens of guitars before I bought this one. It is one if not the only guitar in this price range you will find that is made in America. What is great about this inexpensive guitar is that it shares similar sound qualities with its more expensive siblings. In other words it does not sound like a cheap guitar. this is the perfect guitar for a first guitar.

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

Ok so I went to my local music store and was trying out acoustics. I tried out a few Fender guitars then Alvarez guitars. Then this guitar caught my eye. I tried it out and it was amazing. If you want a guitar that is loud and bright sounding. This is it. And thats why I love about this guitar. After that I tried out another fender and it just wasn't the same as these. These guitars might be high priced but it's for a really good reason. This one isn't tho. So yeh if you want a great sound out of a guitar. Get this one!

I got this guitar for christmas a few years ago and i could not believe the tone. I like the natural look, but I fear scratching it. It's size is very comfortable when sitting down but a little in the way when standing up. I still love it though. Great, Great tone!

The greatest guitar I own

By Zach P.

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I bought this back in January, I play anywhere from 2 to 5 hours a day, and the sound never gets old. With the right strings, this guitar sounds every bit as good as one of the $4,000 Taylor's. The only bad thing is that it's not acoustic/electric. So I can't record with it. But that problem can be solved by buying an electric pickup.

Big Baby, Great Guitar

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

Recently, I have been searching for a quality acoustic guitar and came across the Taylor guitars. It was worth every penny. Even if i had to pay twice as much, it'd still be worth it. However, if you aren't in a rush, I'd save up the extra money and go for the 110 series. but if not, the big baby is still a great quality guitar, for the tone and the buck.

Comments about Taylor Big Baby Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (2011 Model):

I was looking for a decent travel guitar with a small body. I went to a music shop not really knowing to get. I tried a Takamine with an NEX body, a Washburn folk and a Yamaha folk size guitar. I saw a Taylor on the wall and started playing. WOW! It was definately what I was looking for. A light small bodied guitar with great tone and quality. The sound and playability were great. I played it for about 20 min to she was can do. It definately met all my expectations and satisfied all that I was looking for. Great tone, quality and easy to play. You can't beat a solid spruce top, tusq nut/saddle, ebony finger board and great construction at this price. If you're looking for a traveler, beginner or kick around. Then this is definately the guitar for you. And it's a Taylor! Worth every penny. Get one you won't be sorry.
