Taylor

A perfect combination of body woods for strong, rhythmic playing styles.

The heralded Dreadnought guitar is the most traditional of all acoustics. By definition, it’s a battleship of a guitar and the Taylor DN Series pays tribute to that legacy—and then some. The Sapele/Sitka Dreadnought 6-String's booming bass and articulate mids dare you to dig in and challenge your flatpicking prowess. Signature Taylor performance, quality, and value make our sapele/spruce acoustic guitars a great introduction to the solid-wood Taylor experience. Simple, traditional styling and renowned Taylor craftsmanship make this combination one of their most popular models.

Sapele/Sitka
The warm tone and open midrange of sapele balances the bright and snappy characteristics of a Sitka spruce top. The resulting combination provides the perfect guitar for strong, rhythmic playing styles.

Dreadnought (DN)
The Taylor Dreadnought is a focused guitar with plenty of presence, recently redesigned to be even more assertive. It’s the traditional choice for the traditional player; the model to drive with a heavy pick.

Gloss Top/Satin Back & Sides
The finish used to create this guitar's textured satin back and sides and lustrous gloss top was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Comments about Taylor DN3 300 Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I had no intention of buying a guitar, I was in GC just checking out the acoustics as I do on occasion. (You know, just kicking a few tires). I picked up this guitar after palying others at over 3K. This guitar chose me. It's a great sounding and playing guitar. As a side note, I was offered a job as a guitar player in an actively locally touring band from one of the other customers.
Anyway I checked the intonation with a strobe and it was dead on. Try that with other brands and you may not be satisfied with the outcome.
Taylor really amazes me with their products. I also have a 510CE at home, so I DID NOT need this guitar, I wanted it.

Comments about Taylor DN3 300 Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this in September 2011 and haven't put it down since. I am no expert guitar player but I was ready to upgrade from my beginner level Fender acoustic. Was going to get a Taylor 110 until I discovered this. Instantly I knew that this was my guitar. Solid wood vs. laminate which appealed most to me. The neck is amazing. The guitar itself is beautiful. The tone is beyond words. So bright and crisp but with plenty of low end. I hear Gibsons and Martins on TV/radio that sound much better but was not impressed at all with them when I actually played them at Guitar Center. They were 3-4 times the price of the DN3 but the Taylor sounded/played better to me. This guitar has made me a much better guitarist. Although I'd like to start, I don't perform but would gladly take this to a gig. Another thing worth noting is the case. Very nice! The complaint of mine is having to order a pick guard. Maybe it affects the tone, maybe it doesn't. I guarantee I couldn't tell the difference and neither could 95% of you. But it looks naked without one. Go to your local GC and try one of these out. I'm confident in saying that there is not a better guitar within $1500 of the DN3. Its such a great value. Not everybody has $3000 to drop on a guitar! I know that its a guitar I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

Comments about Taylor DN3 300 Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I searched everywhere, and played every guitar I could get my hands on, from Martin, to Gibson, Takamine, and Breedlove. Looked for over Six Months, and after all that time I finally found my gem- The Taylor DN3. This guitar plays, sounds, and looks beautiful. I was looking at Martin D28's, and 35's, and I played both of them back and back up against the DN3, they sounded alright, but didn't even come close in playibility. This guitar is a performance guitar, you can play anything on it, and it ALWAYS sounds Phenominal! If your out there guitar shopping, and your looking for a good priced, good all around guitar that will be able to handle anything you throw at it, look no further, this might be the one for you.

The sound and tone are the strengths of
this guitar. It sounds amazing! The looks
are on the plain side though. No glossy
finish, no pickguard, no frills. The nut is
a hair wider than most at 1 3/4.

Comments about Taylor DN3 300 Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I wanted a good guitar to replace my old J45 as my main gigging acoustic. I looked at a LOT of guitars ranging from around $800 to around $2500. I kept coming back to this guitar and a new Martin D18. The price & the sound eventually won me over the Martin (loved the Martin, though). Bright like a Taylor, yet not too bright and with more bottom end than I'd been use to hearing from Taylors. Very loud, great neck (I like the 1 3/4" width), no bells or whistles, just a great acoustic guitar. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of a pickguard. I bought a pickguard from Taylor with the intent of having my Luthier put it on the guitar for me, but he talked me out of it (said it would dampen the sound some; I think he just didn't want to mar the finish by putting it on...). You could spend a lot more money on much more ornate guitars that might sound as good, but for me this DN3 was all I needed.

The sound of this guitar alone is what sold me most on it (and from what I've read elsewhere has sold a lot of others on it as well).

For the money this is a nice guitar. I'm a Martin guy and have several high end guitars. The Taylor DN3 is a nice change being much brighter than my Martins. I love the neck on this guitar....it plays great and sounds full. I would recommend this guitar to anyone wanting to own a Taylor....it's great.
