Taylor

A robust guitar made of sapele and solid Sitka spruce.

The heralded Dreadnought is the most traditional of all acoustics. By definition, it’s a battleship of a guitar, and the models in Taylor's non-cutaway DN Series pay tribute to that legacy — while also refining that potent sound. The DN3-L Sapele/Spruce Dreadnought Left-Handed Acoustic Guitar's robust bass and articulate mids blend power and balance and dare you to dig in and challenge your flatpicking prowess. The sapele/Sitka spruce DN3 is an excellent choice for a great solid-wood dreadnought within a budget.

Dreadnought (DN)
Body Width: 16" / Body Depth: 4 5/8" / Body Length: 20"
The potent tone flatpickers and strummers love.
The most traditional of guitar shapes, Bob Taylor has evolved the Taylor Dreadnought over time to honor its enduring sonic heritage yet also refine the look and sound into a more modern package. The Taylor Dreadnought still boasts that powerful dreadnought tone that old school pickers expect, with deep lows and crisp highs, but with a voice that, like every Taylor, is more evenly balanced across the entire tonal spectrum. Perhaps more than any other shape, the Dreadnought remains linked with roots music like bluegrass and folk, in part because of its traditional role in defining those sounds. Pickers and strummers with an aggressive attack will love our Dreadnought’s blend of power and articulation, which allows for clear lead lines and crisp, driving rhythms.

Sapele
Origin: West Africa
An alternative tonewood that joined the Taylor fold over a decade ago. It’s sometimes mistakenly referred to as African mahogany because it closely resembles the West African wood khaya, which is commercially known as African mahogany. Sapele is a highly sustainable, relatively fast-growing wood. Tonally, it does everything that mahogany does, with a little extra treble zing.

Goes Well With: Everything. Like ovangkol, it’s a great all-purpose tonewood that will deliver a consistent, balanced tone in a variety of playing applications, from fingerstyle to strumming.

Comments about Taylor DN3-L Sapele/Spruce Dreadnought Left-Handed Acoustic Guitar:

The first order came through damaged. The service people were right on it and dealt with the shipper while sending me another while waiting for the pick up of the damaged one. Can't say enough about their efforts to fix the problem (shout out to sam). The guitar is everything I was hoping for: well made, big roomy fret board for my big hands. stays in tune and sounds strong through the full range from low notes to high. Being a lefty is always a challenge but taylor like martin makes it easy to get a good quality guitar with out breaking the bank.
