OVERVIEW

A smaller, portable Grand Symphony with great sound and solid electronics.

There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet a single strum reveals the impressive voice of a full-size guitar. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. It's not too big, it's not too precious, and it's not too expensive.

That broad-based accessibility has given it a resounding universal appeal, not to mention a built-in fun factor. The shorter 23-1/2" scale length makes forming chords a breeze yet gives the instrument plenty of snap and tuning stability for a rewarding playing experience. The acoustic-electric versions enjoy a sweet upgrade to ES2 electronics. All GS Mini models include a durable hard bag built by Taylor for the optimal fit.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Mahogany is a hardwood that produces a natural compression, yielding more "roll-in" effect to a note. The compression evens out a lively attack for a more linear response. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before.

Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

For a small, not expensive guitar, it plays sweet, tone is outstanding for its size and cost, comfortable size for so many things, but mostly just sitting around playing. I own 4 guitars, its the one I go to for practice. Disappointed in the electronics however. Some notes sound exceptionally harsh and unbalanced. Would recommend a non electric model, then put in a well known, high rated pickup system.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My first time "mail ordering" a guitar. FYI, because guitar was shipped with strings "relaxed" and never brought up to "tune" before, there was some string stretch the first few days so had to re-tune more often than expected for awhile. Blown away by how much volume it produces for it's size. While it's a bit smaller (neck, and body) than my other guitars, it doesn't feel like a significant compromise to play. Amazingly protective gig bag is more like a CASE than bag and the outsize zippered pouch holds standard size sheet music and other lightweight references/notepads etc. as well as accessories. Very well designed/built guitar and case for intended purpose (travel) and more.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a relatively loud sweet sounding guitar for its small size. If i wanted to deal with the limitations (action not so great, and the scale length is not similar to a full sized guitar) then I would definately keep it.
The electronics are ok but not great (he bass response plugged in is good but otherwise nothing special). As mentioned, I prefer not to let my hands get used to the small scale length so Im not keeping this guitar.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This little guitar has everything you are looking for. It's small size is more convenient for travel. The included bag is surprisingly well-padded and sturdy. The GS Mini Mahogany's beautiful, rich sound is what sealed the deal. Other models of the GS Mini sounded a little too bright (particularly the Koa, which got puzzlingly rave reviews) when we tried them out at another store. Whether you are buying an acoustic or an acoustic/electric model, the Mahogany is the best GS Mini of all.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing around town where I live more and more lately and it was time for an upgrade from my Yamaha acoustic which was a bit on the brittle side. The GS Mini Mahogany is warm and lush but still has a nice attack as well! It doesn't sound like a "small guitar" AT ALL! As someone who doesn't have huge hands, it's easier to play than full-sized guitars, yet still sounds full-sized! Highly recommend this guitar for anyone who wants a slightly smaller, yet great sounding instrument!
