OVERVIEW

Designed to be the ultimate musical companion, now in a mahogany body.

There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet a single strum reveals the impressive voice of a full-size guitar. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. It's not too big, it's not too precious, and it's not too expensive.

That broad-based accessibility has given it a resounding universal appeal, not to mention a built-in fun factor. The shorter 23-1/2-inch scale length makes forming chords a breeze yet gives the instrument plenty of snap and tuning stability for a rewarding playing experience. The acoustic-electric versions enjoy a sweet upgrade to ES2 electronics. All GS-Mini models include a durable hard bag built by Taylor for the optimal fit.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Mahogany is a hardwood that produces a natural compression, yielding more "roll-in" effect to a note. The compression evens out a lively attack for a more linear response. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

This guitar is the champ of the travel guitar niche! I looked at all the smaller sized instruments i could find and the GS mini beats them all in tone quality. period.

I wasn't looking for a 'travel' guitar exactly. I wanted a good quality practice guitar that was small enough to let me lounge on the couch or on my bed and play comfortably (my full size dreadnought makes these positions very difficult). I'm happy to report that the GS mini fits perfectly! (it makes my other guitars seem big now though!) Things can get a little cramped higher up the neck, but it IS a small guitar... accept it.

The included gig bag is really nice. It has neck support and backpack straps and a big pocket for accessories. I would have liked dividers in the pocket to keep my slide and capo form banging into each other though. if I carry the bag from the side handles and set it down it tends to tip over on its top. It's not stable on its side like a hardshell case. It IS a quality case though, and seems like plenty of protection for casual traveling.

My GS mini came setup very well. The action is not really high or low; it's a good general height for most players. Electric players might like it just a touch lower and slide players a touch higher. The intonation is perfect to the ear. I tuned using the 5th fret method and then tweaked for a perfect open G chord first. Then played open C and D chords. Then a B barre chord up on the 7th... to my surprise all sounded very nicely in tune.

As for sound? This guitar sounds great! Single notes are clear and full-bodied with a strong attack. Chords are well balanced from lows to highs; not boomy or twangy at all. The mids are fully present and there's a richness to them that's difficult to describe. The video reviews I watched didn't reproduce the tone accurately. It is better in person.

If your looking for a smaller guitar that plays good and sounds great, you found it.

overall a decent guitar. action's fine. didn't have to do much, but i did sand down the bridge a little. my only complaint, which is minor, is the quality/look of the solid top. it's just not a perfect, blemish free top. it's natural, but i didn't expect that on an instrument. the top looks like it was in the left over pile, as far as look. i also don't like the fact it was made in [@], not the usa. other than that, it's a taylor and it works fine.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

Every time I pick this guitar up it makes me smile (With the exception of having it plugged in, sound is untamable).
When not plugged in it is so much fun to play, and so comfortable. Put a capo on this Mini and it sings all the way up the fret board. I have not had a sore back since playing this exclusively. The neck and overall workmanship is superior in this price range.
I tried many small bodies and nothing it's price range(or twice as much) came close to the warm, full sound that this mini body is capable of producing.
If it wasn't for the failure of the ES-T System inability to produce a quality sound I would have given this guitar a solid 5, and I feel sad not to because of the joy this guitar brings me.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

I played my friends,it was so good .It had that Mahogany "D 18" tone I sm in love with.
When mine came from MF it was perfect, correct intonation ,great voice,
The hi quality gig bag/bacpak is handy to grab . I keep a tuner and picks in my GS Mini so I can just grab and go, like to the park or a party.
My #1 acoustic is a Guild F50 Jumbo, sounds awesome but a beast to wrestle due to it's size
and cost, the GS is my Living Room guitar, I keep it in my bedroom closet !
I got a free neck reset under warranty, after the top swelled due to our humidity here in Hawaii.
It is now better than ever and right back with great action and intonation.

It is a tad bright. You can tone it done with so ivory pins. Has a excellent tone. Bass strings have a nice wood thump. Not over kill. Sweet highs n set up perfect right out of the box. For its size n playablity it is a keeper. Plus the nice case makes the price worth it.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

My GS Mini Mahogany is about a week old now, and it's really hard to be away from it - like even in the next room. I bought it due to some problems with my shoulder, which made a full size guitar actually painful to play. This one works great. It cannot be beat for overall tone and quality. i love the beautiful mahogany top with its warm, gentle sound. However it can make a big sound when called upon to do so, altho clearly it's not a jumbo or anything, but for its size it cannot be beat. It came with medium weight Elixir strings, which I think is great - Taylor provides a fine quality instrument and cares enough to send the very best strings along to the forever home this little gem deserves. I've used Elixir Strings for years and won't have anything else on my other guitars as well. However, I changed those out because I need extra lights, but it did not reduce the tone quality at one bit.

I usually do smaller more intimate venues like assisted living facilities and nursing homes, so the size of this one works perfectly amped up. I'm really pleased with the full size sound hole, as I have a Dean Markley pickup, and it does just what it needs to. I'm so happy to have this guitar.

If you're thinking about getting one, by all means go for it.

            great mini guitar

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

This mini just feels right, and the workmanship
is extremely good. The setup was not right, and the Elixir strings that Taylor seems to be so proud of, needed to be replaced, they sounded junky, and now it sound like a really nice guitar. I used Martin SP 11-52,
and it plays wonderful now. Wake up Taylor and scrap those Elixir strings.
