With its all-koa construction showing off amazing figuring coupled with producing its powerful, clear sound, Taylor's K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar scores on every count. The Koa is treasured for both its dramatic figuring and coloration along with its highly resonant tonewood properties. Abalone detailing around the top and soundhole together with maple binding on the body, fretboard, soundhole, peghead, and heelcap enhance the luxurious looks. The Venetian cutaway combined with Taylor Expression System electronics makes this an acoustic-electric that's very playable and versatile.Using its Grand Auditorium body to good effect, the K24ce responds equally well to delicate fingerpicking technique or heavy strumming and chording. Its bright and open voice coupled with advanced Expression System electronics make it a natural in the recording studio. Designed to faithfully reproduce true acoustic guitar tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor Expression System is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound. The finish used to create the lustrous gloss top, back, and sides of the K24ce guitar was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. Opening Up Nicely

By Glenn Watanabe

from Sacramento

Comments about Taylor Koa Series K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I bought this guitar new off a showroom floor in May, 2011. Initially, it had a somewhat "tinny," bright tone but with a pronounced low end that I never experienced with my D-41, 42 and Larivee C-10 maple. And, because of its great looks, I find myself playing it more than my other guitars and thus it's opening up nicely, getting much warmer and richer every month. When I play my Martin's though, I'm still reminded of their better overall balance between the highs, mids and lows and the dreadnaughts' power. But, oh that sweet and deep K24ce bass!

I've rated this guitar as 9's rather than 10's because there is a somewhat muted ring or "odd" tone to the first string at the second fret, exacerbated by most amps I use. It's not crystal clear like my Martins or Larivee. When I fingerpick it, it's louder than the other strings, so I play it lightly to compensate. When I've played other Taylors, sometimes I hear it, sometimes I don't. Sometimes it's worse. It persists despite string brand and gauge changes. I'm hoping it'll even out over time. That said, this has been the guitar I've used at my mediocre performances nine times out of ten. Audiences never fail to let out a light but audible gasp when I pull it out of its case.

sweet guitar

Comments about Taylor Koa Series K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I spent several months shopping for guitars, playing as many as I could and reading as many reviews and forums as possible. It's a difficult process because there is much variance of opinion, and you rarely get to play all the guitars you want at the same place. This makes the decision difficult because each room has different acoustics, and each guitar has its own nuance.Early on I targeted the K24CE because I thought it was one of the most beautiful guitars I'd ever seen, but I read a lot of mixed reviews and warnings about wide differences in tonal quality on the Koa topped guitars, and that koa tops offered lesser tonal quality than other woods.I bought my k24ce about a week ago, and I could not be more pleased. The tone is sweet and full, the action is fantastic, and I doubt many would argue that koa is a beautiful wood. If you can afford it you'll be hard pressed to find a more rewarding instrument.

WOWW

Comments about Taylor Koa Series K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

So the singer in my band has one of these, and at first I was a little skeptical because it looks a little girly, but as soon as I played it I was blown away. Im the bassist but I play thins guitar for our acoustic stuff and I must say that this is by far the best instrument I have ever played. It sounds amazing acoustically and especially through a PA, and the only time I have had to tune it was when i restrung it, (after a mic stand fell and broke a string in practice) So basically, yes its expensive, but it is really amazing.

Simply Amazing

By Torqe-YvYYq

Comments about Taylor Koa Series K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

My uncle got this guitar a year back or so. He's a jazz musician that worked in a guitar shop for almost 20 years so he knows how to pick a good guitar. Out of all the instruments he owns, this is definitely my favorite. It's the most beautiful instrument i've ever seen. The tone quality is indescribable. Everything about this guitar is beautiful. The fret board is faster than the one on my gibson les paul. With elixirs on it, i have yet to find a better acoustic. The only reason i didn't give it full 5 stars for everything was my uncle said the electronics in the guitar just didn't work when he got it. When he plugged it in, nothing happened. So he just sent it into a shop to fix it and it works fine now. I'm assuming this is a rare occurrence. All in all, an excellent guitar. Worth every penny.

Smooth

By Mac-o-man

Comments about Taylor Koa Series K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

My wife gave me this for my 60th birthday...said she wanted it to be memorable. It did not disappoint. It had the best neck that I have played, so smooth that it is easier to play than any of my 10 guitars. The sound of the KOA is so rich and pure that I feel amazed each time I play it. The figured maple binding will make you awestruck. This is one fine instrument, beautiful and functional. You get what you pay for. The multiple pickups are also incredible.

For Live Shows

Comments about Taylor Koa Series K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

This is a great guitar. There is nothing else to say. The tone is incredible. BUT... I have found that many taylors that are cheaper sound just as good (even if they dont' quite look as good) If you want to use this for recording, it is not the one. But, if you play live shows and want a beautiful guitar that will please the crowd look no further. This is an all around good guitar (which is a given considering that it is coming from taylor) hope this helped :)

Best acoustic ever

By justjohny

from South Carolina

Comments about Taylor Koa Series K24ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I usually don?t write reviews on instruments. This will be my first. Of the nine guitars in my collection, four of them are acoustic. This is by far the best. The ebony fretboard is smooth like piano keys. Right out of the box the setup was perfect. The action was factory set lower than any of my electrics with no fret buzz even when playing in drop D and tuned down a half step. The finish is flawless (when I say flawless I mean flawless as in going over the entire guitar inch by inch with a magnifying glass). These are all things I would expect from a 4000 dollar guitar. The thing that really sets this guitar apart is the tone. It?s rich, resonant and deep. I?ve never heard a guitar that sounds quite like it. It is very unique yet decadently pleasant. The koa itself is breathtaking. It looks good in the pics, but in person, it?s my opinion that it is the most beautiful wood that exists. Now for the expression system; before this guitar, I always miced my acoustics, even if it was an acoustic electric. Now I don?t have too. The expression system picks up every nuance of sound. When I plug it in, it?s as if it is miced through my AT4050. To sum it all up I love this guitar.
