Comments about Taylor T5 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Spruce Top (2010 Model):

I have had the T5 for about 3 months now and have used it exclusively for practice and gigs. I use an A/B switch and toggle between Vox and Fender Acoustasonic amps. The T5 is a thing of beauty! I purchased the cherry sunburst finish and am glad I did. We played at a festival this past weekend and had other musicians/guitarists commenting on my axe! It was pretty cool. A professional photographer took pictures of the event and for some reason took almost 2 pages worth of photos during our set. I think he was drawn to the beauty of the T5. Other performers only had a few pics each. Things like that make you say hmmm. Although the T5 is truly an amazing instrument, it is true that it will not replace a high-end acoustic or electric guitar, but it's real close to doing so. I would probably use high-end guitars for recording sessions, but this is THE guitar for live/travel musicians, like myself, who demand quality instruments and sound.

Comments about Taylor T5 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Spruce Top (2010 Model):

I have several great guitars-Gibson-ES175, Fender Strat are two, but my T5 Taylor, I played at my last two gigs gave me more compliments from the audience than I have ever got before, now tells me that I have to use it as my only guitar from now on. It is a wonderful guitar and the sound tells that it is. I play fingerstyle (Chet/Merle) and I just can't use my other guitars now. This guitar has what I have been wanting to hear from many years ago. All, I can say now-it is what I want to be my last guitar. I talked to Taylor guitars today and was very pleased with their comments.

Comments about Taylor T5 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Spruce Top (2010 Model):

T5 solves almost every stage problem i have. B4 i had to switch from my Takamine to my les paul(or vice versa) but with the T5 all i have to do is just flick a switch do eq for a sec and im back doing my show. The tones coming from the T5 are amazing. The acoustic sounds very full, clear, and balanced and the electric sounds are very even when its clean and very very crunchy when you add distortion.

Comments about Taylor T5 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Spruce Top (2010 Model):

I own one of these beauties. It has a great, fast neck and sounds fantastic played acoustic, but amazing when amped. Lots of sound possibilities. It's not just an electrified acoustic. I can get close to Tele and a darn good strat or even 335 sound out of it. I love the feel, the sound, the neck, the color, finish, tuners, fret work, materials.... need I go on? This is a great instrument. GET ONE!!!

Great work, I want to work for Taylor

Comments about Taylor T5 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Spruce Top (2010 Model):

Haven't been playing that long, 3yrs max. Bought a Taylor 614ce and have been wowed ever since. Saw the research going on for the release of the T-5 and was on the edge of my stool waiting to read and hear. Recieved as a surprise gift, a Blue Edgeburst Custom and first day spent 10hrs enjoying without even knowing it. Yes Im married but she was sleeping most of it. Fantastic guitar. Was concerned that I didn't have an amp. No worry. Plugged into my PA Awesome fun. Saving for an amp now of course so can run acoustic side through PA and electric through to the amp. To get the most from the guitar you should have an acoustic amp and an electric amp split with an AB switch. OR PA for acoustic side and electric amp for the Humbucker pickup. Buy it. You won't regret it

Plays Like An electric

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Taylor T5 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Spruce Top (2010 Model):

I was first introduced to this guitar as an acoustic that plays like an electric. Well, you can call it an acoustic, but it is a hollow body electric. But the neck! Oh, the neck! And the action. It plays like my American Deluxe Strat. I fell in love the first time I held a T5 in my hand. You'll get the most from this axe by using an A/B switch and playing it through both an acoustic and an electric amp. The body sensor really needs a piezo horn. The 5-way switch and active electronics gives the T5 a wide range of sounds. Everything about this instrument is perfect.

Close to perfect

Comments about Taylor T5 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Spruce Top (2010 Model):

Construction is what you expect from Taylor: top notch. One of the best guitars in terms of aesthetics and build. Their attention to detail on this guitar is unrivaled so far.Definitely sounds better plugged in. I will not bullshit people into thinking that just because this has the soundholes and hollowbody to deliver a pure unplugged tone, that it sounds heavenly unplugged. It does not. It's a DECENT unplugged guitar. It will still sound as thin [or even thinner] as any other unplugged shallow body guitar out there (shallow bowl Ovations, etc.). That isn't much, but enough for a quick practice session without an amp.Though once you plug it in, everything changes. You'll just have to hear it to believe it. Regardless of purists say about deep-bowl "acoustic" tone, the acoustic sound voice on this guitar sounds amazing considering the body it's built with. I say considering because I agree nothing beats a true acoustic Taylor, but this comes pretty damn close.Aside from the price, another bummer is that even on the "electric" settings, it being a hollowbody will get in the way if you use effects boxes (as they amplify the "noise" the pickups generate overall. So while perfectly acceptable as an electric, it will not be as "quiet" as one no matter what you do. But then again, spruce tops are said to resonate better (which is a drawback in an electric setting), the Maple would probably be a good choice if you plan to do a lot of electric guitar playing with the T5.
