The legacy of Vox-branded electric guitars goes all the way back to the early sixties. This model continues the Vox tradition of exceptionally well-playing and innovative guitars.
The Vox Double Cut Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar has many of the same design cues and distinguished components as the esteemed VOX Virage. The sharp-horned HDC-77 offers an outstanding value for a quality instrument well worthy of the VOX name. Beautiful to look at, the HDC-77 features figured maple-ply top & back with mahogany sides.
Proud Pedigree
In addition to the unique body sculpting and design, the HDC-77 features the same inverse heel joint, deeply cut for free access to the upper frets, as the original Virage series guitars. The MaxConnect aluminum bridge and VOX Super Smooth tuners have superior string handling, and offer tuning stability as well as a thick, rich tone with clear, singing harmonics. Large rectangular position markers adorn the fingerboard; dot position markers grace the side of the neck for fast reference. The rosewood fingerboard provides a comfortable playing surface; the mahogany neck is rock-stable.
Wide Sonic Palette
Whisper-quiet CoAxe pickups feature three distinct tones, each derived from a different pickup element. The result is a versatile assortment of unique and sophisticated tones. The passive analog tone circuitry offers extended control using the Master Volume and Master Tone knobs. Logically laid out and easy to use, the controls allow fast changes during performance.
Neither a single-coil nor humbucker in the traditional sense, the CoAxe design incorporates a central row of pole-pieces encased in a high-impedance coil that's flanked by two blades. The entire construction is then surrounded by a low-impedance winding, which cancels the hum.
Chief designer Eric Kirkland says: "The basic idea is that the coils are coaxial: they're on the same plane, not stacked. The advantage is that the center sensing coil can work like a true single-coil and the outer, noise-cancelling coil is outside the magnetic field, between the central poles and the blades."

The best part is the voicing! These COAXE pups are superb! I bought this axe for the voicing and I am so impressed. The neck is a natural fit for me, too. I can easily finger full chords above the 12th fret. Unamplified the semi-hollow body resonates beautifullly. VOX has designed a guitar that is a pleasure to hear, easy to play, beautifully constructed, gorgeous sienna burst, comfortable and lightweight. Don't let "Made in Korea" put you off. The HDC77 is worth the money!

I have had this guitar for about a month now and dont have anything bad to say. It feels very solid play wise. I play a lot of jazz but this thing takes distortion better than my schector. The first thing i noticed was how well it fits to your body and how easy it is to play. Overall a very versatile guitar that can handle anything.
