I bought this on a bit of a whim. First, the pictures are slightly off. The headstock is also a flame top like the body. Not black as pictured. HOWEVER, this is the best live guitar I have played in years. I collect Deans, own a Gibson, a Hamer USA and numerous other electrics. 22 in all. I have always preferred the pointy V and Explorer bodies so this one appealed to me. Since it has Dimarzios I was very intrigued. I just gigged with this one last week and it has the cleanest sounding neck pickup when the coil split is pulled. I believe it is a Dimarzio Evolution. The bridge pickup is a Dimazio tone zone. The tone is there for classic rock for certain. We covered, ZZ Top Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, The Cars, Guns and Roses, Tom Petty, ACDC Pink Floyd and this Washburn was up to it all night. It shares a tone in common with one of my Dean v's that has a Tone Zone and an Air Norton but the Washburn wins with the coil taps. Especially on the neck pickup. I had a toss up playing the Washburn or my Dean Czech eVo with Pearly Gates. The Washburn has a superb balance and the neck and pickups line up on me perfectly. Since I play Dean Z's and Deans V's I am used to the long bodied guitars and actually prefer a flat top over an arch top in most cases. I change guitars 3 times a gig at least but I played the A20 most of the night. Really comfortable neck, easy access like a flying v and tone, tone. tone!! Looks great and is a killer guitar. It fit in my CORE case and was a little snug so be prepared to find a case. This guitar gets all 5's in the ratings. Couldn't be more pleased. I caught it on sale so it was a real steal!

What it really need's is a wonderbar, I wish they would start making them again.

If it had a gold washburn wonderbar on it I would two guitar's. And if it had a wonderbar on it I would give it 6 star's.

                Def worth buying

Got this guitar last xmas. This guitar has amazing tone that just screams diversity over any other guitar. Sure the lp's are great but this is a guitar on a whole different level. The coil taps are what really makes it diverse especially during solo time. I put 12 to 56's on it as well and it gave it a crunch that i'll never forget. This guitar has the ability to play heavy rhythms with ear splitting leads at any given time. Only complaint I've had so far is that the nut fell off while I was changing strings. Easy fix but still...... I hate watching my guitars fall apart.

I played a '78 LP Custom for years, still have it. Bought the A-20 because I often have more money than brains. Did not like the feel at first but the more I played it the more it grew on me. Now it is my primary guitar. Split the neck pick up and it has a wonderful warm "Stratty" sound, think "Wind Cries Mary." Great for metal, lots of good crunch from the bridge. Very comfortable on stage. The machine heads kind of suck, that's my only real complaint.

                They call her hot

I picked up this guitar because the price was just too good to pass up and it was very unique. I was in no way dissapointed. Pickups are superb, plays well [though mine will get a little more of a set up than it came with], and it truly is beautiful. I don't quite know what it is about this guitar but everyone who comes into my office and sees it hanging on the wall [yes that is where I keep my best guitars] comments something like "now THAT is a pretty guitar". Pictures on the site just don't do it justice. Light just glimmers off of it all over.It is a keeper for me... and the truth is it rocks like nobodies buisiness. Keep the humbuckers going and it is smooth as ice. Pull out the tone knobs and shake the house as the single coils kick in. VERY DIVERSE.Get it.

                WOW!! Buy it!

                By Meathead

                from Newark Ohio

I am an avid Dean collector and enjoy pointy guitars. Love Dimarzio's too. This is a killer axe. Thick body, brass nut, Dimarzio's w/coil taps and serious mojo. This is one of the best guitars I have for tone. Rips the ZZ Top out with a vintage tube classic and handles the Alice in Chains and Metallica well through the Dual Rectifier. Clean on the neck with the coil split is amazing... Crystal clear. Frets needed a very slight polish, fit and finish were very good, balance is good and tone that turns heads. Flame top and double cream make it a Vintage tool for sure but metal heads can rejoice in this one. Outstanding!Bob

                Washburn is Awesome!!

                By SnowBoardKing

                from Colorado Springs, CO

This guitar is absolutely awesome. Everything I could want in a guitar is in this guitar, except a floyd rose. There are no visible flaws, and the craftmanship is amazing! I am tempted to buy another one of these jewels at this price. I have over 25 guitars and this one is definetly the best one yet! The color of the guitar is much lighter and the headstock is also a flame top color to match the body. I have many other Washburns and have not been dissapointed yet. Grover 18:1 tuners, flame top, Dimarzio pickups, two tap coils, brass inlays, string thru layout and a very unique design are definetly worth the price that MF is selling these at. The sounds you can get out of this guitar are absolutely amazing. I use a Line6 212 amp with this axe and is makes sweet harmony!! It would be a great injustice if you don't get one of these before they are gone!

No cooler guitar for the money!!

I have always been a fan of the A-20. I bought this one on a whim and am damn happy I did. This is an awesome guitar! I have guitars that I have paid 4 - 6 times as much for and the are not as fun. The neck feels great and you can just rip on it. The frets are well done with no rough edges or high spots. The pickups are nice and well chosen for the guitar(back down your bass a bit cause the bridge can get a bit woofy). The neck pickup Evo surprised me with it's singing tone. The finish looks great and the guitar is very well balanced. Flame top, DiMarzio pickups, Buzz Feiten tuning, Grover 18-1 tuners, cool brass inlays, the great neck...Etc... you can not find a better guitar for this price ANYWHERE!!!! Do yourself a favor and grab it while you can.

                This is a washburn?

Amazing guitar for an import. The Dimarzio pick ups coupled with coil tapping makes for a very versatile guitar. The finish is great but the set up was lacking. Not too heavy and the neck is pretty fast. Good sustain. A wide neck which is great for chording in the higher registers. Little difficult to reach the 22 fret but not too bad. Plays and sounds better with 10s. This guitar has worked its way to the starting job at least for now. Great buy!
