I wanted to purchase a budget guitar, and I was attracted to the D100 by the features of its construction, the hundreds of fantastic reviews (all of which I read), and the overall reputation of its parent company. I am a careful consumer with a penchant for products that combine functionality with fine design. I wanted to share my happiness with this instrument. SOUND. The guitar exhibits a balanced response from bass through treble. It is neither dark nor bright, occupying the middle ground with a clear, soft-edged sound. FINISH. I bought the TWR model, and it should be noted that none of the pictures I found online accurately reflected the color. It is not a flashy red, but an earthy red covered by a high gloss finish that speaks of class. The gold machines compliment the red color well. The simple yet attractive detail is a touch off-white. PICK GUARD. Many reviewers disliked the pickguard. While it is quite plain, I suspect that some of them didn't realize that there is a protective film on top of it that scratches easily and makes the guard look dull. Peel it off! TUNING. Many reviewers said that it doesn't consistently hold tune, but that has not been my experience. It holds tune very well. Some wind their strings differently from others, and that may have something to do with it. OVERALL. This is not a top of the line guitar, but the D100 is a fine, high-quality instrument, worth much more than is charged for it. If you too are looking for a budget guitar but don't want to settle for budget sound or appearance, consider this one.

I am a guitarist who was in need of a kick around guitar for my dorm. I currently own a washburn and i absolutly love it and in fact purchased it from this site. I decided to stick with washburn when i bought the guitar for my room after a drunken argument destroyed my my other guitar. I was rather disapointed in the quality of this guitar. I love a nice deep sound and i found that no matter what the strings i cannot get the full sound that i love from my other guitars but the neck is nice and it has decent projection of sound but its missing projection from the lower strings.

I got this guitar in my transition from a punk-bass player to solo folk artist. It was just to relearn the 6 string basics and now I love it. It is great for chords and strumming, once I try and get into anything too fast paced this guitar can't keep up, but it is great for just a simple solo song with just chords and a few picking patterns. When I first got it the stock strings made it sound really twangy so I started trying new strings, nothing worked until a friend suggested I put the lightest possible stings and now the sound is amazing. The only problem I have had was that the bridge has started to lift slightly over the past year and a half, but a humidifier has halted that... damn our Northern Wisco dry winters. Great guitar at an amazing price, czech it out.
okay, i bought the black model about 4 mos ago and loved it when it arrived. so 4 mos later and... still loving it! sounds quality is great, no probs at all. stays in tune, action is still low w/ no problems of fret buzz, no hardware problem or cosmetic problem. what strings you put on it does make a pretty big diff. i've used Elixir Nano Custom Lights and D'Addairo EXP 15, both sound great.FYI this is not a solid top guitar, i emailed washburn and they said all the D10's are laminated. most likely you'll be getting one made in China. if you buy a D10 from anywhere else, it won't be in Mahogany and won't sound as good.
when i bought this guitar i thought it was gonna be a knockaround guitar...i mean look at the price. however, as soon as i got this bad boy tuned up, it sounded gorgeous. the finish was amazing (black, the sound was amazing, and the value is unbeatable. i mean this is a steal! if you're an experienced guitarist or simply a beginner who doesn't want to invest too much money, look no further than here.
This is the best budget guitar I've ever had, and I've owned a few. The action is great and the sound is clean and satisfying. I like the features on this guitar like body and neck binding, and gold-finish Grover tuners that one wouldn't expect with a $$$ price tag. I got the mahogany finish model, and the one thing that I did take note of was the finish being darker that that of the illustrated guitar in the catalog. I would have liked the lighter finish better. Mut maybe I'm being nit-picky. Overall, I think you would be hard pressed to find a better $$$ dollar guitar.
This guitar sounds sweet! I own expensive guitars and I am pleased with the tone of this inexpensive guitar. I am not happy with the set up though. The action is high and I find it hard to play. I am hoping a new set up will lower the string height. With that fixed, I will be completely happy and have a great cheap guitar to travel with.
I was skeptical for a moment when I read the bad reiews. I was hoping not to get the "made in china" D100. Well, I did get the Chinese version, and i am completly satisfied. I am still a beginner but I have been playing for about a year, and this is 1 of the most amazing guitars I have played. However, If you plan to get the natural mahogany (I got it) please note it is more of a dark brown than pictured. Overall this is the best investment I have ever played. Don't second guess yourself, buy it and you will love it.
I've had this guitar for a year, so I would have something cheap that I could bang around on and bring places. The sound quality is magnificent! I have friends who play professionally that have guessed the price at $450.00 dollars!! Overall I would buy this guitar in a heartbeat! great beginner or semi-professional guitar!
I had the opportunity to play one of the older, Indonesia versions of this guitar, and was very impressed. Without knowing the price, I would have guessed it to be about twice as much. I ordered one for myself, however the guitar I received was made in China, and while very nice, is not nearly as nice as the Indonesian guitar. The tuners are of lower quality, the sound is not nearly as good, and the guitar does not hold tune as well as the other one I played. Still, for the price this would be a very nice guitar for a beginner, or to use as a second guitar to take places you don't want to take an expensive guitar.
I was looking for an inexpensive guitar but was worried about having that cheap "twang" sound. This guitar has a gorgeous rich sound. I had bought a set of Martin strings to put on it, but the original strings sounded great. I'm hanging on to the Martins for later. The finish is beautiful. It is much, much more than I had hoped for.
I must begin with saying that this is one of my favorite guitars that I have laid my hands on. This guitar has has a rich tone, well made, and all together nice make. It even holds tune for months at a time while others you have to re-tune only after a week or two. Great for Intermediate and Beginner guitarist.
I am so impressed that this thing is so inexpensive! I have a Taylor that I am in love with, but that I am wary about taking places. This is a really nice backup; it plays well (nice low action, decent tonality) and is VERY easy on the eyes--I got the wine red model. Basically, you're going to get more than what you paid for, but let's be realistic here, it's not going to replace a nice Taylor or Martin. Important Info: the bridge is well-secured, the intonation is perfect, the guitar stays in tune fairly well, the tuners don't move around, the strings stay secured in place at the nut even when you bend. IMPORTANT: bending is very difficult on this guitar, even for an acoustic. If you bend a lot on acoustic, look at something else. Using a lot of effort you get a half-step bend out of this thing. Overall this guitar is teriffic, and I am very happy with it! I gave it nine stars overall because I think the value part is worth more than the features aspect with respect to this guitar.
I've been playin' guitar for 3 or 4 years now i got really into it and i've tried out many guitars....i wanted to buy one for my sister to learn on and it was awesome for the price i was blown away can't beat this for $$ bucks!
I bought this as my first guitar. I was a little tentative about buying a $$ guitar. I mean, how can a $$ guitar sound good? But it does, and it is amazing. It is a great first guitar, or additional guitar to keep around for practice. The Red Wine finish is beautiful. As others have said, spend a little of the cash you saved on some new strings. I get my new strings today, and am looking forward to hearing my D100 sound even better...
I bought this guitar about four months ago and I enjoy it so much I bought a second one for my mother so she can learn on. Great value.
When I opened the box of my guitar the finish on was great. Everything seemed to be good. I played and I was amazed at the quality of the sound. The only thing this guitar needs to sound amazing is a new set of strings.
Okay I was at First Skepticle but once she arrived I was very pleased. Nice Heads. Very nice Finish(Black).Replaced the strings asap(of course).Has a Warm Rich Voice, Nice resinating tones. just a pleasure to play. i purchased about two months ago & very pleased!! I also installed Oh almost forgot the price !! buy this guitar!! Thank YOU MusiciansFriend
My wife bought me this guitar a couple of years ago and I love it. The only problem I've had is some tuning problems but I think with the right strings it does fine. Pair this guitar up with some Elixir strings and you have a great sounding guitar at a great price.
My first intention for this acoustic was to use it as a back up guitar for when I play out. But when I was at home I found my self un-able to put it down; I have had it for 2 years now and I can't find anything wrong with it. This was a sweet steal for the price. I even got one for my nephew to play.
This was my first guitar, the one I learned on. It's a good, value, a good guitar, but nothing really special. It would be great for a beginner, or just for someone looking for a reliable piece for jamming around on. It's fun to just sit down and play and if I had do it again, this is still the guitar I would pick.
I have played this guitar since my bro bought two of them, and you really can't go wrong for the buck. They really look a lot better than the site displays them. The sound is pretty darn good considering I didn't expect much for the price. Great starter guitar for anyone. Wish it had electronics for a little more cost and cut away. Then the deal would be awsome,(HINT)PEACE OUT!
