This guitar was on the Stupid Deal of the Day several years ago and on a whim, I bought it because the price was amazingly low. They were selling the white one, so I bought it. My intention was to use it as a side guitar that I can use when I'm taking trips or playing outdoors. When it arrived and I finally had a chance to play it, I was very surprised and the quality of the sound and feel. The guitar easily plays very loudly. The tone is around the low to mid range, which is good for the type of music I play. I haven't found a better deal since this thing. Soon, I'm going to be installing a LR Baggs pickup. I actually will be paying more for the pickup than what I paid for the guitar and the shipping. If you can get your hands on this model, I would highly suggest that you make the purchase. I won't be parting with this guitar at all.

Also, a huge bonus is the unique white color of my guitar. I love that. I actually don't see this model in white available anywhere anymore. I am very Blessed. God is good to me.

I just received my brand new Washburn D10S and was very excited to jam a little. However, it has the worst buzzing problem I have ever heard on a musical instrument. It seems that every single fret buzzed horribly. I'm sending it back, because there is definitely something wrong with the frets.

Great guitar!

By Camurai

My family bought my father a Yamaha acoustic 30 years ago, and I've had a tough time finding a budget acoustic to match its tone. When I found a factory B-Stock D10S, the search was over! The value on this guitar is through the roof. Solid wood throughout, great tone, near-perfect setup out of the box, INCLUDED hardshell case, heck, it's even got a compensated bridge saddle! It's a bargain at this price, nevermind what I paid for it! There's a reason this is the best selling acoustic ever. If you're looking for a great-sounding budget acoustic, look no further!

So Happy

By Elizabeth

from Chicago, IL

I am a beginning guitar student and purchased the Washburn D10S to replace the old clunker I had been using the first few weeks in class. I am amazed at the sound and quality of this guitar. Right out of the box, the action was terrific. The craftsmanship of the guitar is excellent and the tone is perfect. Even though I am just starting out, I can see this guitar becoming one that I will enjoy and use for many years to come. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Get one while you still can

By jbharoo

These have been the best selling guitar in this price range for a reason: they provide good sound and quality construction at great price. To compare these guitars to high-end, solid wood guitars would be silly. Compared to other guitars in this price range, however, this is a good buy. Best of all, unlike laminate top guitars, these will only sound better with age. Aesthetically, the detail on mine exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately, these have been discontinued, so get one while you still can.

      Sweet sounding guitar!!!!!

      By rshdc

I had not played for 17 years. I decided on this Washburn after trying it out at a local music store. It sounds better than a friend's Martin. It sounds better than another friend's Gibson. It's worth every penney and a lot more.

      Great guitar. solid. period

      By BradtheGreat

      from Huntington, WV

Okay, so I admit that I have never considered a Washburn acoustic guitar. Not because I thought they were bad guitars or anything like that. It was simply because I didnt know much about them, and none of the shops near me carried them. But a local guitar shop I go to hang at sometimes recently added Washburn guitars to their shop. So I decided to play this beauty in Tobacco Sunburst. It was fantastic!! I have always weilded a Takemine, Guild, Gibson, or Ovation. But the sound out of this Washburn was simply stunning. The playability was also there as well as the feel of a quality guitar in your hands. Listen.. I have a bunch of acoustics in my home studio, but I am telling you that none of them impress me more than this Washburn. I'm not saying it's better than any of my other more expensive guitars. But I am saying it's just as nice. Another bonus is the solid top. For the money, YOU CAN NOT BEAT ANYTHING ABOUT THIS WASHBURN.

Certainly THE Best Acoustic in The $200.00 Range

      By Fendson

      from Burbank, CA

I just recieved my D10S from MF last week, and have not put it down since. I have a Martin D28 as my main acoustic and needed a backup guitar. I read many good reviews about the D10S and had demoed it at a local music shop. I was very impressed with the sound. The D10S is not as full bodied sound as my Martin D28, but for the price, it plays and sound as good as a $500 acoustic.

      Noob who is thirlled

      By noobert

      from GA

Im an absolute guitar noob, so take my review with a grain of salt... however. I absolutly love this guitar. I got it blem'd from MF for < 175 shipped. Compared to everything else I shopped at this price, this was hands down the best buy (solid top, hard case, warranty). Frets buzz a little, but thats most likely my own doing, and it doesnt hold a tune too well, but I think thats an issue of strings. im taking some lessons, and my instructor who has played 30+ years was befuddled at how well it plays and sounds for how little I spent on it. My dad plays a Martin that he's had since he was in his 20's and enjoyed playing my washburn D10s (though im sure hes not up for trading with me)

      D10S

By <--a friend of Musicians Friend-->

      from you-tah, SLC

I was deciding between about 6 different guitars. Ranging from Takamines to Gibsons to Epiphones, etc. I am thrilled that i stuck with this Washburn D10S. I read that it was voted #1 Acoustic Guitar under $500 and that kind of sealed the deal. This guitar is absolutely gorgeous! The mahogany sides and back are phenomenal. This guitar honestly sounds better than most of the Takamines, Epi's, Gibsons, Fenders, etc. that I played before. You could even play a smaller sized gig without any mic or pickups. The fingerboard is super smooth and tons more comfortable for chording and soloing. Add a hardshell case and a limited lifetime warranty and this is a no brainer!!!

      Hard Rockin' Amigo

By D Brown from the band Alphabet Soup

      from Baltimore

Man, I've had my D10s for five years and I brought it used. It kills. Sound is amazing, action can easily be fooled around with. I've dropped it at least 500 times and bruised it up too ... still sounds fine. I say get one ... it was my first acoustic and I still use it.

      My Washburn, My Love

      By Jorje

      from Provo, UT

      See all my reviews

I've had this guitar for about 4 years now. And I love it! I bought it at a local store and I loved the way it played--even compare to more expensive brands. The action is like butter. The neck is also a little more narrow than other dreads that I've played which is ideal for smaller hands and playing crazy contorted chords. I've since worn out the original hardware and added "real" grover tuners and brass bridge-pins. This only improved things when I thought they couldn't get any better . It gave me more sustain, more punch, and overall just more beef. This guitar is a delectable musical treat every time I play it. An Excellent value!

Just got mine from you guys, beautiful guitar, case is top dollar, could throw it off a building with no harm. With elixer strings it plays beautifully. I will pass it down to my 6 month old grandaughter, she is plucking already!

      Exceeded my expectations

      By Bloke

      from Denver, CO

Forget the price, this is an absolutely great guitar. The workmanship is outstanding, the neck and fretboard feels as smooth as silk. I could not believe the tone out of the box? I figured right off the bat I would put on a good set of Martin strings and changed my mind after the first strum. The sound is very clean, the notes are round. Having sent back the DK20T, I was not expecting the difference between the two models to be that great. What a suprise? I play mostly Folk and Blues, lots of finger picking and would reccommend this guitar to anyone, regardless of skill level.

I received this guitar as a gift about 3 years ago and still it is a great friend. This guitar actually survived my house fire and it came out with no damage so since then I have even named the guitar. The sound is loud! The chords are full! I get lost in the music I play with this guitar and I have never had one problem with it. I love this guitar so much. It has been a great friend.

      By cspencj5

I am very pleased with this guitar. This is the first time I have bought a guitar over the internet and did not know what to expect. It showed up at my door. The guitar is beautiful, after replacing the strings the sound was amazing. The action is a little high when you get down by the higher frets, but that can be adjusted. You won't be disappointed with this guitar, for the money this guitar sound and looks beautiful.

What sold me on this guitar was the sound, action, and intonation. Throw some Martin strings on it you get a full, balanced and clear sound. The neck plays very well. Playing cords and leads wont fatigue you like most "budget" acoustics I've played. Even if you play hard there's very little fret buzz. As for intonation, all the way up the fret board it plays in tune. I use about every tuning and this guitar does pretty well. May be if I made a living playing I'd have bought a "premium" dreadnought. The fact is I play because I love to. I can't justify parting with $2,000 for an axe. I'm glad the only thing that really can tell I didn't is my wallet! Great quality and playabilty at an even better price!

      Excellent Guitar

      By Matt-i.ii4

      from Woodstock, NY

I bought this guitar because I wanted to start learning acoustic and I wanted a good guitar for not that much money. I saw in a magazine a review on it and I was instantly convinced it was the one I wanted. When I first got it out of the box it looked and played amazingly. I was very happy with it and I doubt id get any other for the same price. I highly recommend this if you're looking for a cheap-er but very good guitar. It even comes with a very nice case :)
