I've been playing for 4 years and thought it was time for a brand new acoustic cause the one I had just plain sucked. Right when I took the guitar out of the package, it pretty much blew me away. There are so many little details that the pictures here don't even pick up. It's truely an eye pleasing guitar. But, can it sound good? The answer is YES. It's the best guitar I've ever had the privelage to play. I've played everything from Yamaha to Martin and none of those match the quality, look, and sound of the Washburn D30S. The guitar is perfect for my sound and believe it or not, it has improved my playing greatly. The only bad things about this guitar is the strings (which aren't that bad but do need changed if you want the best sound) and on my guitar, at the 13th fret on the High E string, it just makes a rattle sound. But I can live with that cause I can play around it. Those are the only flaws on this guitar, the rest is just a steal. I still can't get over the look of it and the sound is loud and lovable. This makes an excellent second guitar, and I'm glad I bought it. If your looking to find a guitar to learn on, this is a great one to start with. Well I couldn't be happier and I think everyone should go out and buy a Washburn cause it's the best guitar I've ever owned!

I am a professional luthier (guitar tech) and am working on setting up a brand new D30s just now. The guitar looks quite nice - but I think looks are what you are paying for. The fret job on this guitar is awful - at least 9 loose and high frets. Also, the saddle is also too low and will need replaced and the neck was back bowed (which did adjust out easily - but certainly a poor out of the box setup). Many of the materials are mediocre (cheap saddle, middling wood selection) for a guitar at this price. The tuners however are decent, though I'm not a fan of the plastic knobs. It does have a solid top - which is an important feature for tone; this guitar sounds decent, but it is by no means outstanding tone wise in any way. Go for something with a nitrocellulose finish is my advice (Save some money with an A&L, or choose a Seagull perhaps, though Seagulls are more expensive). Anyhow - that is my 2 cents worth.

I just recieved my guitar in the mail today, and I was impressed right out of the box. Like always, the picture doesn't nearly do the guitar justice, it's a really beautiful guitar. However, there is a big blotch of glue on the inside, and the cover of the pickguard seems to be peeling off at one point. The guitar sounds wonderful, and at the amazing deal MF has it, I strongly recommend this guitar as a starter, or even as an upgrade.
I got the d30 yesterday and have no complaints except that the fret markings are small and triangular. Sounds great, even on the awful strings that come with it. Buy one while they still got em!
This guitar plays very well. It is surprisingly light weight, and the appearance is much better than the picture shows. The slightly wider neck makes playing Barre chords easy, and even thoughthe action is high, it plays like it is much lower. I have had it for 5 days and it seems that every time I play it, the sound gets better-like a solid body electric with the amp on chorus or a 12 string acoustic but with softer harmonics. All I did was change the strings to D'Addario EJ16 phosphor bronze and it came to life. An absolutely unbelievable deal!
The Washburn D30S guitar is probably the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen. On top of that it sounds great. I love this guitar. I replaced the strings with some good lights and the sound is crisp and clear and easy to play. It's also an incredible value. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.
I just received my D30S in the mail and was pretty impressed with the sound for $***. Obviously it has pretty decent tuners. The only beef I have is that the finish on the sides seems to have several imperfections. It almost looks like when the stain was applied, some of the areas look dull that are beneath the clear coat. I really wanted to send it back because of this but didn't want to get in a vicious cycle of getting another one with the same issues, different tonal quality, etc... I would have thought I would have been offered a Blemished price for something that has this many imperfections in the finish. Also, I use "Open C" tuning. Bad part is that when it is tuned lower there is a lot of buzzing. For $300 I can't complain too much, but I wish I would have had the money for a Breedlove Atlas.
Can't beat the price for indonesian rosewood body and a solid spruce top. the sound has a suprisingly deep bottom, and a sweet high ring, with excellent resonance throughout the neck. it comes stock with vinci strings and the sound impresses me so i look forward to putting on Martin SP's to see how good it can get.
This guitar is fantastic, I've been playing it for over a year, my aunt got it for me for Christmas last year. The sound is very crisp and loud, the abalone shell inlays are beautiful, the pearl designs on the tuning head. This guitar is fantastic. not only does it look fantastic, it sounds great as well. Great bang for the buck.
I am a beginner with the 6 string guitar but play bass and keyboards. My friends tell me the Washburn D30S is the most playable guitar and has the best sound they have ever heard for the money. (My buddies play bluegrass and use the Martin D28) All I know is I love its appearance. my instrument's finish is perfect and all that abalone inlay makes it as beautiful as a piece of jewelry. the volume is not as loud as their Martins, but they paid 6 or 7 times what my D30S cost. I think it is a great guitar....I wish I had a second one to start a collection with.No complaints from me that is for sure.
I went through two of these before I finally just gave up. The stock strings needed immediate changing, but with good strings they both sounded great. The neck profile is excellent, very comfortable and fast. The guitar is also very visually appealing for one in this price range. The downside is that I went through two of these and after about exactly a month they both developed a hump right above the neck joint that caused them both to fret out badly in the upper registers. No matter what the price or appearance, they weren't worth keeping and no truss rod will fix a problem there. I hated to have to return them, but I had no choice. Without this one issue I would have gladly kept one.
After reading all the rave reviews for the D30S I was persuaded and ordered one. As everyone has stated, it is just great. Looks outstanding, great action and the sound just jumps out of it. Overall I couldn't be happier with it and thank all for the accurate, positive reviews.
