I've been playing for 4 years and thought it was time for a brand new acoustic cause the one I had just plain sucked. Right when I took the guitar out of the package, it pretty much blew me away. There are so many little details that the pictures here don't even pick up. It's truely an eye pleasing guitar. But, can it sound good? The answer is YES. It's the best guitar I've ever had the privelage to play. I've played everything from Yamaha to Martin and none of those match the quality, look, and sound of the Washburn D30S. The guitar is perfect for my sound and believe it or not, it has improved my playing greatly. The only bad things about this guitar is the strings (which aren't that bad but do need changed if you want the best sound) and on my guitar, at the 13th fret on the High E string, it just makes a rattle sound. But I can live with that cause I can play around it. Those are the only flaws on this guitar, the rest is just a steal. I still can't get over the look of it and the sound is loud and lovable. This makes an excellent second guitar, and I'm glad I bought it. If your looking to find a guitar to learn on, this is a great one to start with. Well I couldn't be happier and I think everyone should go out and buy a Washburn cause it's the best guitar I've ever owned!

I am a professional luthier (guitar tech) and am working on setting up a brand new D30s just now. The guitar looks quite nice - but I think looks are what you are paying for. The fret job on this guitar is awful - at least 9 loose and high frets. Also, the saddle is also too low and will need replaced and the neck was back bowed (which did adjust out easily - but certainly a poor out of the box setup). Many of the materials are mediocre (cheap saddle, middling wood selection) for a guitar at this price. The tuners however are decent, though I'm not a fan of the plastic knobs. It does have a solid top - which is an important feature for tone; this guitar sounds decent, but it is by no means outstanding tone wise in any way. Go for something with a nitrocellulose finish is my advice (Save some money with an A&L, or choose a Seagull perhaps, though Seagulls are more expensive). Anyhow - that is my 2 cents worth.

Fantastic Guitar

By

from Seattle, WA

This guitar is fantastic, I've been playing it for over a year, my aunt got it for me for Christmas last year. The sound is very crisp and loud, the abalony shell inlays are beutiful, the pearl designs on the tuning head. This guitar is fantastic. Not only does it look fantastic, it sounds great as well. Great bang for the buck.

Really Surprised!

By

from The Commonwealth of Kentucky

I wanted a straight out acoustic(no electronics)and thought this one "looked" like a good buy. Couldn't beat the price and it had the woods that I wanted. With the exception of poor strings that I immediately changed, this guitar is really a sweet instrument. Very well put together for an import with surprising attention to detail. The inlays are beautiful and the spruce top on this one has "flame" in it. It looks amazing. The sound is bright and crisp and the mids and lows aren't compromised. It really projects well. The Grover tuners(nice touch)keep the tuning dead-on and the buttons on mine are not plastic at all. They are like a hard rubber and are very easy to grip. The guitar sounds great and is well put together. What more could you ask for for the price? I highly recommend this guitar for novice to pro. Also got the Vintage Dreadnought case. Again, very well built and sturdy, fits the guitar perfectly and looks great. The faux leather covering on the case actually feels authentic. All in all a good experience and I'll use this site often. By the way, I also own a 68 Gibson Hummingbird, Ovation/Addamas and a 62 Fender Telecaster Custom.

Needs work out of box but not bad

By

from Mountain View, Missouri

After some fret work it feels pretty good. I did have to adjust the truss rod some but no big deal. The saddle is junk, replace it and I don't think the nut will last too long. For the price it would be hard to beat but I wished I had spent 2-3 hundred more on something else looking back. A beginner-novice would probably be in heaven with this guitar but I have played hard for over 30 years. It seemed to be the best I could get with the little money I had at the time. After working it over a bit it is fairly decent and I do like it. Everyone who hears it says it sounds good. This guitar might be awesome with jumbo frets installed?

D-30S Acoustic

By

from Bonner Springs,KS

I got this guitar as a Christmas present from my wife this last December. The wood and the adornments are beautiful. It plays wonderfully, and has a unique, shining tone that is marvelous.I have played this guitar so much,I have callouses on my old callouses. When I play this guitar,I get the sense that I am playing an impeccable instrument, and I am.The solid top is "opening up"even more already,as I play many hours a week.Helpful hint --almost all new quality instruments need some tweeking to the individual taste.I play in a band, and have played guitar for many years.I also own a D-10 which is an outstanding acoustic guitar also.Wonderful.

This is a treasure

By

from Lancaster, OH

The Washburn D30S guitar is probably the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen. On top of that it sounds great. I love this guitar. I replaced the strings with some good lights and the sound is crisp and clear and easy to play. It's also an incredible value. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.

D30S

By

from New Windsor, NY

I receieved the D30S a couple of days ago and was hard pressed to find any physical defects whatsoever. The fit and finish was out of this world! My friends couldn't believe it was so inexpensive and it played beautifully. Low action and very bright with just the right amount of lows. (The sound was not immediate a good set of strings was slipped on first)
