Washburn

A 6-string bluegrass machine.

The Washburn D64SW dreadnought acoustic guitar combines the quality of Washburn guitars with careful craftsmanship to create a true bluegrass machine. The guitar is built on the dreadnought platform for a full, balanced sound in the most popular guitar body design in history. This model starts with a solid spruce top for full, warm tone right out of the box. The back and sides are solid rosewood, bound with a striking ivoroid binding. The tuning machines are Grover Sta-Tite tuners with original butter bean buttons, offering precision tuning. The Washburn guitar comes out of the box looking and feeling like an old friend. The natural stain and the pure finish give it a smoky mountain feel and vibe.

The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is a tempered tuning formula, which uses a compensated nut and saddle to correct the inherent intonation problems of the Western tuning formula. The system that Buzz devised has been a godsend to musicians. Fans of the system include Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Liona Boyd and Andy Summers. The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is standard on all USA made Washburn basses and is featured on select imported models. Washburn is the only major guitar manufacturer to incorporate the system as a standard feature on production acoustic guitars.

Great sounding guitar. Nice tonewoods. Excellent washburn hardcase included with mine. It is made in China, which is doesn't mention anywhere in the description and the Musician's Friend customer service couldn't tell me either, which was disappointing because I believe in American made products, but still a great sounding instrument.I would recommend it.

I just got my new Washburn D64 and it is absolutely amazing!! Right out of the box this guitar sounds better than anything out there under $2000. I'm dead serious!! My buddy came over to jam with his Martin D18 and he even said that the Washburn blew his Martin away. He was stunned. The D64 is perfectly built, sounds rich and full, has endless sustain and its LOUD!! This guitar is probably one of the most overlooked guitars ever!!If you don't try one you will end up spending way more for a quality guitar than you need to. I know....It's not a Taylor or a Martin but it will sound as good or better....and thats what matters...right? Yes...I am and have been a huge Washburn fan for over thirty years and now I fully understand why. I have owned several Washburns over the years including an A20 which is still regarded as one of the best 80s guitars ever made. Anyway...give this cannon a try and I think you will agree....this is one killer acoustic!! There you have it folks....the first review of the D64. I wasnt scared!!
