Is apparantly the rebadged D-100. I have an original D-100 that I paid 99 bucks for in 2000!!! This is a deal.My beater D-100 has been from and back to Hawaii 10 times over the years with no ill effects, it's been down tuned, up tuned, thrown around on the beach, turned a very dark amber, and has it's share of beautiful dings with a story each one.It plays reasonalby well but it's real strength lays in it's volume. This guitar is very loud, projects extremely well and has held it's own in jams with Martins, Taylors and Taks..Is it a Martin or such, absolutely not, but it's a perfect guitar to learn on and a perfect guitar for the beach or knock about.
The Washburn D6S I recently purchased greatly exceeded my expectations for a very low priced guitar. The sitka spruce top is beautiful and the rest of the guitar is flawless. The guitar came with a compensated saddle and attenuation is right on. I improved the action by sanding the bottom of the saddle and installed a set of D'Addario phosphor bronze medium strings. This guitar is loud enough to play Bluegrass backup and the tone is fine for lead picking also.
I ordered this guitar for a friend who didn't have an acoustic guitar to play with us at our jam sessions. It is going to be a special birthday gift so I was looking for an inexpensive deal that he would like. Never played a Washburn before in my life but everything I have ever ordered from MF was top notch. So I just picked out an inexpensive guitar that my friend might like and the specs looked good and so did the picture on the website. Well, let me tell you, when it came to my front door and I put a new set of D'Addario's on it, I was immediately floored by the classy looks, and the mahogany sound! Just a tad bit "boxy" sounding right now (next to my Martin) but that should disappear after it gets a little age and PT. I have a room full of guitars that cost 10 times a much as this beauty and this Washburn D6 Dread mahogany axe is only a couple of notches below them in sound and playability. The value (how do they do it at such a low price?), stunning looks and wider neck hit the spot. Guess what, I am now looking at the Washburn WD-10SCE to add to my collection ASAP! Don't know how they do it at such a steal but now I'm a believer! BTW the Washburn gig back is a great addition to your order. Thanks MF for another good-un!
After looking around at many guitars I decided on this as my beginner guitar. I've had it about a week and kept on the stock strings to see the difference. When I changed strings as suggested in other reviews, its like it breathed more life into it. The sound is great and its very good quality. I already dinged the top, but that was my fault! It didnt affect the sound. Pick this one up!
