I was overcome with joy when I ordered it though. So I waited 5 days for it to arrive. I open the box and the first thing I do is plug it in. There is ALOT of treble coming from this thing, on account of it only has One volume and One tone control. I usually turn the tone to about one or two. Ten if I'm live. After unplugging it, I played it like that for several days, and I noticed that has a lot of treble burst and a strong mid punch. (probably due to the shape of the sound hole)with a restrained yet defined bass range. It's fantastic, the projection is high but not overbearing. The one thing I was MOST worried about was INTONATION. Let me tell you, I've never heard such a well balanced and strong E chord. Even with capo and upper fret use, the chords are still in perfect harmony. My previous acoustic guitar lacked in this respect so I gave it to my brother when I got this one. One thing I'm disappointed by is the pseudo-abalone rosette. I hate it.It's some plastic Ring with odd colors. The binding is PERFECT and the tuners hold for WEEKS assuming you don't bend. All in all, simply superfluous for $200. The best deal you could get.

The value for this guitar seems to be too good to be true. Thats is becuse it is. I bought this guitar about 2 weeks ago after using a friend's washburn acoustic-electric. After reciving it I found quickly as did others it need to strings to which I had .11's put on it. Again after playing it more I noticed a "buzz" on the 6th E string. (Guitar player's worst nightmare) After giving it to one of my local music stores to have the action and all of that good stuff done to it, the "buzz" was lighter but still continued untill the action was set so high I nearly broke a finger trying to fret the "E" string. I am now sending it back and DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!

A GREAT GIFT

By Matt-Je-X7

from Radford, VA

I am just learning to play guitar now, and someone gave this guitar to me for free. It has a crack in the headstock that is taped up and honestly there is no sound difference at all. I like this guitar better than all my other friends who play, except for a few who have Martins. This guitar is awesome, really easy to play and has a great clear sound to it. It's amazing I got this guitar for free but if it broke I would definitely go out and buy the same one.

Great Guitar

I have owned this guitar for about three months now. It has been wonderful, other than te strings that came on it. I would reccomend this guitar to anyone with a small budget.

Nice guitar for beginners

By Random Squirrel

from Pleasanton, CA (Currently deployed to Kuwait)

I just started learning, and wanted a guitar that sounded nice, but one didn't need to be that high-quality since I'm deployed and didn't want to destory an expensive instrument. I was intrigued by this one due to its styling and oval cutaway, and gave it a shot. Experienced guitarists are impressed with the quality of sound that comes from this instrument for its price, and it looks classy as well. The only gripe I have is that the lowest string gets "twangy" if you don't strum right or hold down the string tight enough, but that teaches me as a new student good habits in finger placement. Would definitely recommend for new guitarists.

Great value

By Go Cyclones

After several months at looking at acoustic electrics, I settled on the Washburn EA8B and have been very pleased with it. It looks great and sounds good unplugged or plugged in. Plugged in it is a bit twangy but I personally don't mind that. This guitar is great for the price paid.

Not the greatest......

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have been playing guitar, in general, for about 7 years. This guitar was given to me as a gift. I appreciated the thoughtfulness behind the gift but the tone and quality was definitely not what I was looking for. This is a good guitar for beginners and only beginners. I liked it at first but later parted from it after about 2 months or so......It has a very twangy sound plugged or unplugged. I love Washburn guitars but not this one.

Another Washburn for my collection!

By Jenks

from Spokane, WA

I've previously bought an acoustic Washburn, and an electric Washburn, so naturally it was time to buy an acoustic/electric Washburn, and the EA8B was the perfect choice.Even though the price is low, the guitar is superb. The sound is bright and full (put Elixir Nanoweb's on it, they're the best), and plugged in it sounds quite good as well. I've had comments on how gorgeous it looks, and how nicely it sounds. I can always count on Washburn to get the job done, and I'm happy to introduce the EA8B into my music collection.

Wow, It's Small?

By Anonomers

from Jersey

When I got the box I expected it to be big, but i was wrong. The guitar itself looks great with the fretboard sides lined in white. But Something that i don't understand is that the soundhole is more of an oval than a circle. Other that that, it's a great guitar for $179.
