The best qualities of the bygone era, recreated in a beautiful parlor.

The Washburn R314KK parlor guitar combines the quality and beauty of Washburn's vintage series guitars with surprising affordability. The guitar is built on the parlor platform for a rustic design in a small but powerful package. The guitar starts with a spruce top and Trembesi tonewood back and sides for impressive warm tone and unique beauty right out of the box. The mahogany V-neck offers ample dexterity when chording up and down the rosewood fingerboard. The Washburn R314KK parlor guitar comes out of the box looking and feeling like a well-worn old friend. The natural finish, beautiful rope purfling, and antique distressed veneer offers a pure vintage look, while the distinctive tone woods bring out all the sound you could ask for in this blues machine.

Following the tradition of instrument making from the late 1800s, Washburn's Vintage Series guitars have been skillfully "antiqued" to resemble over 100 years of wear. This lovingly recreated version of popular stringed instruments have all the benefits of modern technology with all the romance and passion of the bygone era.

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I've had mine long enough now (6 months) to feel qualified to make comments.
        Pros: Great antique looks.
Cons: Antique looks. It's antiqued on purpose, so if you buy one be aware of that. It's not going to look bright and shiny like my Yamaha's and Taylors.

It sounds much better than one would expect from a guitar this size. The action was perfect out of the box. After a bit of time it developed a slight fret buzz on the 6th E string. A 1/16 counter clockwise turn on the truss rod solved the problem (wrench is included in the nice lockable case). May have been due to changing strings. I'm on the third set of strings now and it's doing fine. Great knock about guitar. Any additional bruises you give it just ads to the antique appearance. The vee neck, as has been previously stated, takes getting used to; but once you do you'll quickly see the benefits (like added leverage with you thumb when using the dreaded full F). It's an old design used by many of the old time manufacturers before the modern emphasis on speed (yes it slows you down a bit, but with most music it's not an issue). Great with the blues, good bluesy sound. Easy to fret and a pleasure to play. If your looking for a speedy neck, this isn't it, get a Yamaha L series (yes, I said Yamaha, not cool on the cool scale, but superb necks. Guitars too, for that matter.)
Would I buy this guitar again. Yep, for a knock about you can't beat it. Well, you can beat it, but it don't seem to care. It's adult beverage friendly :). The laminated top, does not seem to have any adverse effect on a guitar this size (I'm assuming that size matters.)

        save your money

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

This is a nice looking guitar, it sounds really good for its size. the action is low and it stays in tune pretty well. ive had mine for over a year now and if it was a half of what I paid for it i would be very happy but its just not worth it. mine has some spots around the sound hole and the head stock that look like they just forgot to stain it. the neck is shaped like a triangle and is very wide its not too uncomfortable but it takes some getting used to. It also took me three months to get it in. dont know if that was musicians friend or washburn that caused the delay. comes with a nice case though....

Junk, save your money for real guitar

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

Peg head glue joint completely let go, total daylight through the neck, only thing holding the headstock to neck is the fret board! I read reviews that stated faulty glue joints and they weren't kidding. Save your money for real guitar, they look nice but that's about it.This review isn't against Musician's Friend's at all, there a good bunch to work with, this is pure Washburn's lack of quailty!Tracy DavisNC

        Cool Guitar!!

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this model about 1 year ago and have had a lot of fun with it. I have had people ask me how old it is with the relic look it has. I really like the V neck, 12 fret neck and slotted head stock. The action is very low and easy to play. I use the 11-52 80/20 bronze string. The tone and volume are really good for the size. I did have one problem with the bridge which Washburn quickly fixed at no charge. I had a Fishman Rare Earth humbucker professionally installed and it sounds fantastic through both my Genz Benz and Marshall acoustic amps. The pickup fits nicely in the sound hole and doesn't hurt the appearance any. I can play it in the kitchen or on the stage.

        Good Guitar

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

At first look, many may just see an wannabe antique. But in trust, this is actually a very nice guitar. It has a volume that you wouldn't expect out of something so small, it is a very stylized and nice looking guitar, not to mention the overall tone is just something to fall in love with. It's very comfortable to play because of the small body; and despite what it appears to be, its actually a steel string guitar. We got one of this in at the guitar shop that I work, so this is all first hand experience. There are other guitars out there that may suit you for the price, but anyone shopping this range should at least give this one a chance if you can.
