OVERVIEW

Excellent value with warm tone and strong volume.

The Washburn WD100DL is a steel string acoustic guitar that features a mahogany top and dreadnought size, making it ideal for both practice and performance.

Mahogany is dark-colored wood that, when used as a guitar soundboard, creates a warm, full tone with a character all its own. The WD100DL also features mahogany back and sides that further help to balance out the powerful low- and high-end inherent to the dreadnought body shape. The result is a sound that's both pleasing and loud enough to be heard in small venue without amplification.

The Washburn WD100DL has a full-length 25-1/2" mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard. Other appointments include a rosewood bridge, vintage style headstock, die-cast tuners, and a gig bag.

*Note: Restock version does not have Washburn flower logo on headstock.

Overall, this is a nice guitar. It will need setup upon arrival; if you are a beginner player or not experienced enough, PLEASE take this to a local guitar shop to get set up. The neck on mine had WAY too much tension, so I loosened it up. The guitar also arrived slightly over-humidified, but that's better than it being overly dry and cracked.

Besides the required work needed to be done on it, I also did some optional work; just my personal preferences. I personally think this guitar looks great, but the gloss finish ruins everything. So I bought a can of Rustoleum Clear Matte Finish spray paint, removed the strings, pickguard (the pickguard was also misplaced on the guitar compared to the preview picture on the website), and hardware, and sprayed away...now it looks amazing! (In this review are the before and after pics - before pic is straight out of the box.) I also installed a strap button and restrung it with Martin medium-weight Phosphor Bronze strings; two more things beginners should take to a guitar shop to get done if they wish to do so.

Comparing this guitar to my old Yamaha F325, my only complaint is that playing/shifting positions is not as smooth; especially with the gloss finish. Then again, however, I've had my Yamaha for about 4 years, and my Washburn for a few days now. I look forward to seeing how my relationship with my Washburn guitar evolves!

Comments about Washburn WD100DL Dreadnought Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

talk about bang for the buck--i've been a washburn convert since '05, when i picked up an ea8f. have since acquired two more, this wd100dl being the most recent. ironically, it's not only the least expensive, it's the best of 'em all. i changed strings & bridge pins, lowered action about a hair, and BAM! perfect intonation, booming lows, lilting highs, and ideal action for a somewhat hard picker like myself.i'm real anxious to see if it improves with age as the others have. a truly amazing bargain!

Comments about Washburn WD100DL Dreadnought Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is certainly the best deal for the price when it comes to acoustics. I love the natural finish on it. The guitar arrived without a flaw and only took a second to tune. The guitar stays in tune no matter what tuning you throw at it. I play from E-Standard to Open G, Open D, and it stays in tune. The construction is wonderful. I love the binding that this guitar has on the neck, body, and back This guitar has nice, low action, which is good for anyone to play on if you are a student, beginner, professional, hobbyist. This guitar has a full sound. It is great for flat picking, finger picking, and anything. The strings it has on it when it firsts arrives are good quality as well. This is a must purchase for some you know that plays guitar.

Comments about Washburn WD100DL Dreadnought Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

I've been spanking the plank for 5 years now, but this is my first laminate guitar. I own other acoustics in the 300 and 600 price range. For the purpose of this review, I will review against the washburn wd11sce since it's currently my favorite. I needed a bash around guitar for play while drinking, and I wanted something lighter for just kicking back and strumming a few chords. I liked the wd11 so much I thought I'd go washburn again. I was not disappointed at all. The fit and finish was the same as the higher end model. I could go into a couple of flaws, but they are so minor they're not worth mentioning in a short review. Both came set up perfectly. both are really pretty guitars. both came strung with dadd extended play. Keep in mind I'm comparing a 300 guitar against one that costs half as much.

If you get too excited, you can see why laminate guitars are not as desirable. Heavy strumming does not do well with this model. If you have a fat pick and a heavy hand, you won't like this model as much as I do.

The tone is really dark to me. Of course, I'm comparing solid cedar to laminate mahogany, but I noticed right away that I preferred the Em to the G on this model.

Action is low and fast, though will buzz and sound cheap if you hammer down on it. Chords are less articulated than the wd11 model - expected.

If your a beginner, this thing is way better than what I started with!! And I highly recommend it. Likely the best acoustic under 200.

If your a player looking for a lightweight acoustic to carry around with you, this is a great choice.

If you're hoping for something you don't mind getting beat up, I'm not sure this is it. It's inexpensive, but so nice looking, you'll not want it dented or dinged.

For the price, it is a great guitar. I was quite suprised by the feel of this guitar. I bought it to take camping and to travel with. But I was quite impressed with the playability for a guitar of this price, it doesn't feel cheap, and is alot of fun to play, and it looks pretty good as well. I play it as much as my higher end guitars.

This inexpensive guitar sounds GREAT! I was doubtful that I would be happy with this. Boy was I wrong. The tone from this guitar is very clean with plenty of punch. No unwanted harmonics, but a rich, full sound. I'm so impressed. Why did I spend 4 times this much for my other guitar??!

This guitar was in turn right out of the box. The bass response and tone balance is better than similar models because of the mahogany. Resonates and sustains. We give guitars like this to disabled veterans and the quality is perfection.

Comments about Washburn WD100DL Dreadnought Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this guitar for myself. It was a "daily deal" for a great price, so I decided I would give it a shot, as all the reviews for it have been positive (The only negative being about 'poor construction' that were remedied with a return/trade in.)

Upon receiving said guitar, out of the box it was in perfect condition. Everything is smooth and polished to a glimmering sheen. The wood was flawless, the head and knobs were shiny and pretty. I ordered the Wine Red, and it looks immaculate. The construction and visual appeal of this guitar is top notch.

It has a very rich, vibrant sound. Tis that of a chorus of angels, bellowing hymns yonder to the ear of man. The neck and frets are seemless, and it's incredibly easy to play.

I highly recommend this guitar, if it's your first guitar or your 100th, I would add this to your arsenal. 10/10 would buy again.

When I first opened the box I was honestly blown away by the look of the guitar, it's incredible!(I chose black).Even the wood has a very nice aroma it puts off. It's very glossy and smooth as can be.I don't think I've seen a finish on an acoustic this nice, ever!I love the gold hardware and print, doesn't look cheap.
The guitar plays fairly easy, has good sustain and notes ring out very well.Has a nice bright and clear sound with great tone.My friend has a Takamire and it cost twice as much, but does't even compare to the Washburn. The Washburn is about three times as loud, and for me thats a must when it comes to acoustics.
It comes with great strings as well, but not in tune.I knew they wouldn't be so I got a tuner also.A Snark clip on tuner, awesome deal.I'ts the best tuner I've ever owned, you should check it out.
I don't think your going to find a better guitar out there for the money or for even 100,200 more than this,I tried.Bottom line is I would definitely recommend this guitar to anybody.

Purchased this for a 16 year old boy with only 1 year of serious picking time under his belt and I've been totally impressed with this guitar so far! He's rough on just about everything he owns (cell phones usually only last about 6 months max with this kid!) so I had NO intentions of spending a lot on what may very well become toothpicks in the near future. Since I've owned a Washburn D10 for a few years now & have had no problems out of it in any way I decided to find one at a reasonable price rang for this beginner. The guitar looked excellent right out of the box, has an above average sound for the price, stays in tune forever (it seems) and has above all else has become something he really babies and takes care of. The only thing I've done is tighten the tune keys which is my person preference with any new guitar & that's it!! Many thanks to Washburn & Musicians Friend for producing and selling something of good value at an excellent price!!

The Healing Box Project gifts these to veterans and teaches our heroes to play. The sound and ease of fingering is good right out of the box. A slight truss rod adjust on 1 of 5 .

At this price point, you won`t find a better looking, better playing acoustic guitar. I bought the Natural finish as I`m partial to the look and sound of Mahogany, Beautiful full, rich sound. Great finishes. Frets were finished very nicely. Of course I shaved the saddle about an eighth of an inch to accommodate my style of playing, and while it was apart, I gave the rosewood fret board and bridge a generous drink of lemon oil, wiped away the excess and reassembled this beauty. After re-tuning I haven`t been able to put it down. What a fine instrument! As one of the other reviews pointed out - " If you buy one of these for yourself, get one for a friend."

This is a deep tone machine. It plays right out of the box. The wood grain is straight and smells nice.
The gold tuners are a nice touch. It is very light weight. Don't be afraid of the low low price. Buy 2 and give one to someone you really like. Thanks again Musicians Friend for a good product at a good price, and good service.
