Surf-alicious sounds to fuel your own guitar freakout.

A classic body style that has long been associated with The Ventures finds itself revived for their self-designed signature instruments. The solid 25-1/2"-scale maple neck is masterfully joined to the carved-top alder body with a smooth and comfy bolt-on neck joint. Dual single-coil pickups put out a tremendous signal that makes it easy to get sounds from hot and edgy to fat and mellow. The vintage-design tremolo gives you plenty of sweet expressiveness. The neck is topped by a warm rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and all the hardware is chrome. Controls includes a volume knob, tone knob, and 3-way pickup selector.

I got the Sunburst one, and am delighted with it. It's easy to play, and Venture's tunes seem to effortlessly eminate from it (or is it my imagination?). I love the wacky off-axis pickup and free flowing lines and I suspect that the pickup angle actually contributes to the unique sound and overtones of the guitar.Overall quality and finish is quite good and commensurate with the price. The strat-like bridge required a third spring (supplied) to be installed in order to stay in tune. Pickups are sensitive and produce long sustain, but are very susceptable to TV and equipment hum. Tone ranges from rich-twangy to very mellow. The supplied gig bag is pretty flimsy and was missing a strap - Get something better for the road. The guitar is an inch or so wider than a strat and won't fit in a standard case.

I ordered a red wilson bros venture guitar. The finish was great, the neck was okay. The tremlo bar was not so good. The tuners completely turned me off, they would not stay in tune. I tried to use the extra spring that comes with the tremlo to see if it would hold the bridge better and keep the guitar in tune, no luck. I think if the makers would change the want to be tuners to real Gotoh ventage insted of look a like Gotoh the guitar would be worth the money. What little I played it the sound was very good. I sent the guitar back because I didn't want to spent another $100 on it to change the tuners and do what ever it wold take to make the whammy bar work as I expected it should. I spent my money on a standard stratacaster and I'm very happy with it. All my other guitars cost much more then what I spent on the ventrue guitar, but I like the Strat as much as any of the other guitars I have.

Great Guitar, hardware is the only issue

    By ZJM

I actually have a VM 100 which you can't seem to buy anywhere, I was actually quite lucky to find the one I have, but I have to say the WB brand is awesome! I've gotten all the sounds I want for various Ventures' songs and its always fun to play around on. My only complaint is the hardware, the input jack came loose pretty easily and when I had it repaired, the repair man said the wires were very loose all over. After a quick tune up though it sounds better than ever. Overall a great buy at its price!

    Ventures Forever

    By R. Laing

    from Upstate NY

I have owned the Ventures Model VM 110 in "Candy Apple" red for about a year, and it is one great looking and sounding guitar. Played through my Twin Reverb, it just comes at you right out of the sixties, just great. It handles like a dream, great slim neck, balanced as good as my Strat. It was built in Korea but the workmanship and quality are top notch. I owned a Mosrite back in the day, and honestly, the VM 110 gives up nothing to it. The Ventures really hit a home run with this baby.

ITs a matter of personal taste

    By oldschool58

I write this review after 2 months of playing. In my opinion the best things going for this is the weight of the guitar, the tonality, and the whammy. The action was way too high for me with a big neck for my hand. Overall I thinks my new friend is different but enjoyable to converse with.

    My Second Review

    By Twelve Dollar Suit

    from Sylva, NC

This is my second rewiew. I just have to say that I've been playing the VM 75 model for over two years. I own Gibsons, Fenders, a Gretsch and a variety of other high profile brands. The Wilson VM 75 goes on stage with me. This is my number one guitar...above and beyond all the others I own or have ever played. I like it well enough that I have purchased a second VM 75 as a back-up. This is the guitar I've always looked for.

    It'better to venture than not

    By Dick Smith

    from herkimer,ny

I bouught my venture VM110 about two months ago. It came out of the box ready to play. In fact it was almost in tune. I believe it was carefully inspected before it was shipped. It is a beautifully crafted guitar. Ilove just looking at it. It has two duncan designed soap bar pick ups and they are very quiet-even with the volume and the digital effect on high. The sound especially on the low end is rich and distinctive. It has the ventures sound all by itself. It also has great sustain.People I have let play it are amazed by its sustainning power. The people at Wilson Brothers are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. It was an enjoyable buying experience. To sum up-I love playing my vm110 venture guitar.

It ain't Mosrite but it's close!!!

    By Rod1946

    from Atlanta, Georgia

I have lusted after one of these axes since I first played one in at music store in 1965, in southern California. Of course that one was an original Mosrite of California. But it was a sunburst. I just got the W.B. VM-75 model. The packing was excellent. I did put some Fender Bullets .009's on it. It was more than I expected. I agree with the other author this guitar literally knows Venture music all by itself. And those of you that are familiar with Hank Marvin and the Shadows, this guitar adds a whole new definition to their music. I would equate it to my Strat or my Burns guitars. To say that I'm pleased with this guitar is an understatement!!!

    Waited over 6 mo.

When it finally arrived I was very disappointed. It is an OK asian guitar with a kinda unique tone. I played like a Strat copy. The killer was it had a 60hz hum I couldn't get rid of. I returned it because the tone wasn't all that special. And I need a guitar that works - I play , not collect.
