I bought this last christmas, expecting it to be a major let down, but I simply didn't have two grand to spend on a gibson 335. This sounds so good that even though I now have the money for a 335, I don't think I'll be buying one. Once you play a 500 dollar guitar with a super nice tone knob and pickups, so nice that it can compare with a 2000 dollar guitar..... I don't want to spend that much money when I have a unique beauty right here. I play soft, clean, reverbed songs (Reverb is hauntingly great through this hollow body) and Rock songs with overdrive. The soft is the best, wouldn't change to a different setup if it killed me. The rock isn't the greatest, it can play some alternative rock, pop-rock, most songs you'd hear on the radio. I wouldn't suggest playing metal on it of course, but that goes without saying. What a beautiful sounding gem this is, if you want a clean hollowbody, get Yamaha's AES620HB, their quality is great.
This is THE guitar that I have been looking for all of my 35 years of playing! I have been playing Blues, Blues Rock and Southern Rock all my life. If I had the cash I spent on all the American Guitars I have tried, I could have bought an American Custom Shop Axe. Seems like every guitar I bought had some thing I didn't like, and I'm talking tone. This Korean built gem came out of the box in perfect playing condition, no tweeking needed. I was worried about the Yamaha neck pickup, thinking I would stick in a PAF Pro.No way! The pickups are perfectly balanced. It really does sound like an LP and a 335. The photos don't show the true beauty of it. My favorite setting is with both PU's on and the neck volume backed off some. Harmonics Galore. You choose. Be a snob, or sound great. Get the case. You're gonna want it.
