OVERVIEW

The APX Series has always placed emphasis on playability, stylish thin body profile and cutting-edge electronics. The Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, one of the world's most widely sold acoustic-electric guitar, has been revamped and refined for a new generation of acoustic rockers. The APX500II FM Series now offers new exciting colors, flamed maple top, upgraded pickup/preamp and exceptional playability.

This APX shines on stage. With its ultra-comfortable thinline body and slim, fast neck the transition from electric guitar could not be easier. All-new color variations and updated inlays make sure each APX looks as good as it sounds.

Case sold separately.

APX Body Depth:
80-90mm (3 1/8" - 3 9/16")
APX's thin-line body combines incredible comfort, easy top-fret access and a sound perfectly suited to on-stage use with bright, clear mids, balanced highs and controlled lows. Specially designed non-scalloped X-type bracing allows the guitar's top to sing and maximizes the resonance of the unique body shape for a full, natural tone. With dynamics, sensitivity and clarity built into the design from day one, APX is a guitar not to be underestimated.

Under-Saddle Pickup System
Controls for the under bridge mounted piezo pickup are mounted on the instrument's side for optimum access. The battery compartment is also located on the side, close to the neck, to provide easy replacement.

System 65
System 65 features an under-saddle piezo pickup developed by Yamaha. Controls include a 3-band equalizer, an adjustable mid-range frequency control, and a precision chromatic tuner for optimum sound tailoring. The system is powered by easy to obtain AA-size batteries that provide a stable power supply for improved sound quality.

Cosmetically stage-aggressive attitude with a flame maple top and Yamaha's own upgraded electric system.

Comments about Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I needed a second acoustic/electric for acoustic shows, one that I could play solos on. I owned a '90s APX and used if for 25 years, then treated myself to a nice concert size Takamine, so when this guitar came up as a "stupid deal" I jumped on it. It's now set up to run with 11's with a lighter G. (You sacrifice a bit of warmth and fullness with the light strings, but EQing compensates.) it looks, sounds and plays great and I can bend some strings too.

Comments about Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Several years ago my uncle was a Yamaha Dealer. I had a nice collection of guitars which I sold. Yamaha still builds quality instruments at a reasonable price. I was looking for a a thin style body and a fast neck when I saw it was a Yamaha, I bought it. Couldn't be happier.

      Great guitar!

Comments about Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar as an " open box ", and I got a great deal on it. I bought my first APX back in 1990, and this one didn't let me down. If you're looking for an acoustic that has the feel of an electric, the APX series is the way to go, and it's much cheaper than any of the options out there.

Comments about Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar as a gift, and the body was much smaller than I'm used to. Although it is loud for the size, it doesn't compete with larger body guitars. Still, it sounds absolutely wonderful, and it is acoustic-electric, so if you want more volume just plug it up and you're good to go! This guitar stays in tune very well, and I have had it three years now with no problems. I have even left it out in my 100+ degree car a couple of times, and it did not damage the guitar in any way. I ended up loving this guitar so much that my sister bought one as well... she is a 5'2" teenager so the size is perfect for her. In my opinion, it competes with the big name brand guitars without the high price tag.

Comments about Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My daughter asked for this guitar for Christmas. It wasn't my first choice, but it was the one she selected. After receiving it, I am pleasantly surprised. The guitar is perfect. Fit and finish are excellent. The set-up out of the box is great and the guitar is very easy to play. Sound is great unplugged, if a little thin, but I find I really like it. Plugged in, it sounds even better. Built-in tuner works great. The back of the neck has a dull black finish. As I would have preferred the feel of a glossy or satin finish on the back of the neck, this is the only minor negative thing I have to say. Also got the Yamaha case for this guitar. The case is very sturdy, but the guitar fits in it extremely tightly, to the point that it is not as easy as it should be to put the guitar in the case. But overall, would stronlgy recommend the guitar with the case. In fact, I'm probably going to order one for myself.

Comments about Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for about 15 years and I wanted to buy an acoustic that would just be out to grab when ever a musical thought came into mind. When I got the Yamaha APX 50011 I was pleasantly surprised on how nice this guitar is. The flame maple top is just beautiful, fit and finish is flawless, and the playability is spot on with the slim taper neck and the cut away. It sounds surprisingly good unplugged but when its plugged in it sounds great. You would think that you were playing a much more expensive guitar. For the price you can't beat it.

You can't beat the quality and amplified sound for the price. Dabassplayer (in our band) bought one and I liked it so much, I bought one. It's become my favorite accoustic. The Yamaha hardshell case is a tight fit, but it works.

Comments about Yamaha APX500IIFM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar plays as well as most priced 3-5 times more, looks great, and you won't cry if you get a ding in the finish from that cymbal. Thinner body is very comfortable, but sounds full sized when amped or thru the PA. I don't like the matt black finish on the back of the neck, but it really isn't noticable when I'm playing it. Intonation and string height setup was almost perfect...can't beat it for the price. I also bought the M/F dreadnaught case for it, which is also a good deal. If this guitar lasts as long as my other Yamaha accoustic (25+ years), I'll be a happy camper. My J160e is much safer on the wall!!!
