Upgraded styling and specification with the exclusive ART pickup system.

The APX series has always placed emphasis on playability, stylish thin body profile and cutting edge electronics. The Yamaha APX700IIL Thinline Cutaway Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar offers upgraded cosmetics, solid Sitka spruce top, revamped A.R.T. preamp and the same exceptional playability.

This APX shines on stage. With its ultra-comfortable thin-line body and slim, fast neck the transition from electric guitar could not be easier. All-new color variations and updated inlays make sure APX looks as good as it sounds. Case sold separately.

APX Soundhole: Oval
The instantly recognizable APX soundhole thickens lower-mid response and gives a more strident, open low end.

APX Body Depth:
80-90mm (3 1/8” - 3 9/16”)
APX’s thin-line body combines incredible comfort, easy top-fret access and a sound perfectly suited to on-stage use with bright, clear mids, balanced highs and controlled lows. Specially designed non-scalloped X-type bracing allows the guitar’s top to sing and maximizes the resonance of the unique body shape for a full, natural tone. With dynamics, sensitivity and clarity built into the design from day one, APX is a guitar not to be underestimated.

A.R.T. (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) technology
Yamaha electric acoustic guitars have consistently used piezo pickups to reproduce the pure sounds of the acoustic guitar. But piezo pickups tended to overreact to changes in attack, which in turn caused distortion. To achieve ideal playability, we had to improve the way that these dynamics were controlled.

To provide a solution to this issue, the new pickup was designed with a multilayer structure consisting of six layers of different materials. This dampens excessive vibration from the soundboard while picking up small resonances to achieve ideal sensitivity and outstanding dynamic balance. Also, because the pickup is fitted directly beneath the soundboard, it functions as a transducer attached to the body.

System 64
System 64 is an original preamp system newly designed and developed by Yamaha’s guitar development team. The 1-way system incorporates two contact pickups mounted inside of the body underneath the saddle. Best matching between guitar and pickup was obtained through numerous trials using a number of voice variations in order to produce the most authentic acoustic tone possible. The system is powered by easy to obtain AA-size batteries that provide a stable power supply for improved sound quality. The system also includes a high-precision tuner.

Comments about Yamaha APX700IIL Thinline Cutaway Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Very happy with this guitar overall. It fits me so much better than my old dreadnaught, which is heavy and keeps me from standing up straight when singing. Now I can practice without a struggle. Its acoustic tone is good for the price.

love this guitar. except the strings are too heavy that came with it and the bridge needed to be filed down because the action was way too high. other than that it's an amazing guitar.

          Awesome-ly Amazing!

Comments about Yamaha APX700IIL Thinline Cutaway Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Just bought this guitar second-hand. Started first with an Ibanez, action was too high. Then bought a Fender, ditto. Even had the action worked on to lower the strings on both guitars, no go. Both very hard to play, especially the Fender. Don't get me wrong, I've been playin' since I was eight(8) years old(forty-five years of playin' now and still kickin it!) and love a good quality AMERICAN-MADE instrument, I own an "SG", a "paul", an "ES", two "strats" and a "tele", all of which are not made in USA except for the Gibson SG, and I play the hell out of all of them because they play so well. Through Marshalls and Fender amplification. What got me on this guitar was I had just gone to my fav "Guitar" Shop(Center) to pick up my acoustic(Fender) and was still dissatisfied with the playability-action or lack thereof. I was told of this model just traded in, started playing it, and lo and behold, I CAN WAIL ON IT! And the action is STILL higher than what I am used to playing on. Imagine that. Jimi, SRV and all others who have gone beyond, would be proud! I can now play acoustically their songs without sacrificing tonality, playability and downright good looks. Yeah, this guitar still needs some action adjustment, but by the way it plays right now, I can't wait 'til it's set up, yeah I'm looking forward to it.

It sounds good through my AVT50 stack, but then doesn't everything. The eq's appear to function correctly and the tuner's cool to have onboard as well. Overall, the action is probably going to end up higher than what I used to play on(Ovation Custom Balladeer.....action SCREAMED!!!!!), but this is going to be a close second, really. For those of us who need/want to play more than just the nut area of the neck, this guitar is the 1 4 U!

          Peace
