Great little guitar right out of the box. I have wanted a nylon string guitar for years and finally ordered this cedar top Yamaha. With no hesitation we were making nice music within minutes. Two surprises, but not disappointments, were the width of the neck (it's wide compared to my steel string acoustic and electric) and the fact it was made in China. I had thought, maybe hoped it was made in Japan, but no, like so may other things today, it's Chinese. But that said, I can't fault it in any way, it's simply a fine and inexpensive guitar regardless of origin.
I have been playing rock, folk, and most everything else for more than 45 years now and would say i'm a "fair" guitar player. This guitar is just what this old picker wanted just now. I like it a lot!

Really solid build with a great tone. The action is low for a nylon string and it is very easy to play. The neck is comfortable and smooth, even if you have sweaty hands while you play. The matte finish is actually quite nice, but it makes the top of the guitar look like its laminated even though it's solid American Cedar. That doesn't really bother me because the tone speaks for itself. This might be the best nylon string guitar in its price range. It projects a very warm tone with plenty of bass. The treble doesn't really sparkle as much as higher end classical guitars, but it's very consistent up the fingerboard. The Nato back and sides are a lot higher quality than I expected. Yamaha did a really good job on this one. They also make this model with a solid spruce top (CG122MS), but I've heard that cedar is usually of better quality in this price range.
