    My trusty ol sidekick

    By Roger Cowan

    from Beckville, TX

This was the first guitar I ever had, and it was given to me about 10 yrs ago with the oath that I would learn to play it and write songs with it. Hated the nylon strings, so way back then I replaced them with steel. Didn't hurt this guitar one bit, and to this day, its my ol' friend and best writing partner. It's been on the road with me all over creation, been used and abused way beyond what it should have. Never been in a case and once rode all the way across Texas tied to the top of the gear in the back of a pickup. This guitar will never leave my side. Others come and go, but she will always be "the One." No cracks, no warp, no defects whatsoever after all the years. And plenty of life and beautiful tone left in her.

Its cheap, but doesn't need to sound like it!

    By NickGreen91

    from Orange County, CA

I bought this to use for private Classical lessons at my university. The top nut was too low at first, but super-gluing the slots to raise the strings helped.I bought D'Addario Pro Arte strings to replace the stocks, but they did barely anything tonally. My professor recommended me Oasis GPX Carbon Treble strings, they're about 12 bucks (LOOK THEM UP!)The strings brought this guitar to life! I've compared my sound to other students with 400+ dollar student guitars, they don't stand a chance. This thing is cheap, but the Carbon trebles introduced it a much better tonality, I'd recommend them for this model.

    nicely done for the pice

    By Chewy

    from Vermont

Solid guitar. Better sound than I thought I'd get with a laminated top. Workmanship is excellent in most respects with a couple of exceptions. The Good: fretwork is excellent, finish is very good, doesn't feel 'delicate' like many classicals, setup was wonderful right out of the box. The Bad: There is a blemish at the end of the fingerboard next to the sound hole, it looks like it split slightly and wasn't finished as smoothly or in the same color as the rest of the fingerboard. On a guitar of this price, I'll certainly not complain about that (it's not even noticeable unless you are looking very closely). The tone is incredible for it's price. It isn't as loud as a solid top, but the tone is very pleasant. This is the second Yamaha I've bought. The other one was a steel string model that was also very good for it's price.
