I'm gonna be straight forward here. I own a few Gibson electrics as well as some very nice Fenders, so I'm gonna use those for reference. It's an unfair comparison, I know, but trust me on this.I got this thing after owning a few unplayable acoustics. I got a Yamaha because of the quality and the good reputation, and to be honest, because of the price. I'm in the process of getting a nice Guild jumbo, but I wanted a beater, I didn't wanna worry about taking this one all over the place.I've spend hours with this guitars before writing here. It's a very nice acoustic, not the wide open tone you get with some solid tops, not the same sustain, but if you compare it to others in the same price range, this guitar will blow them out of the water. I mean, it's like it doesn't belong in the same category as most guitars out there in this price range. This guitar is very, very easy to play, the neck is quite comfortable if you have medium to large hands. Any old fool can play this, the action was incredible right out of the box, the intonation is ok but not perfect.I got this one new, and it came out with some marks and little things that went away as soon as I cleaned the top a little. The fretboard was dry, but that's easily fixed. The tone is very nice, a nice balance, great for folk and general strumming. Very easy to play leads with this as well, not the best brilliance or volume but a nice, round tone overall. It's got more sustain than other cheap acoustics I've played. No buzzing at all, frets are not jumbo or anything, but it's a smooth neck. Again, incredible action, I can't get over it, that alone is worth the price! The quality is what you would expect for the price. Back and sides look good, the fretboard doesn't look as solid as the Gibson's, but it's perfectly fine. The tuners are smooth. Nut, saddle and pins should and will be replaced, but that can wait a little. The strap pin is a cheap plastic thing, but that also can be replaced for pennies. Cheap guitar but doesn't feel like it at all.Overall, I'm very glad I got this one, and if you want a real nice acoustic on the budget then this is the ticket. Other reviews here speak the truth when they say this is a huge value. it is, glad I took time to do a bit of research.

Guitar has a surface blemish on the face of it. Who ever assembled this guitar tried to sand it out but sanded it in the wrong direction then covered it with a clear finish. The piece of wood should have been thrown away and not used on this guitar but now I'm stuck with it. Not happy with the cosmetic quality of this guitar and will not buy anything from this company ever again

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I'm glad I made the purchase. Color wasn't as nice as photo example, but that's not a big deal as it's a good looking guitar overall and plays/sounds great. It has the characteristic tone I remember Yamaha to have. Love it!

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I wanted a guitar to be dedicated to alternate tunings, so I made a list of comparably priced guitars and went to a store to actually see for myself. I found that for the money this guitar had a better bottom and more balanced tone than others. I am very happy with this purchase.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

My usual instrument is a Taylor 314ce, but with a toddler in the house and living in an area of the country with rather drastic temperature and humidity swings on a daily basis, it only comes out when the kid is asleep and we're not on the patio.

The solution was hunting down a "beater" acoustic.

I had played an F335 at a friend's house last year for a bit. He and his daughter had decided to learn guitar together. I was very impressed with how it played out of the box (he'd had no setup done).

When the F335 hit a price I couldn't refuse, I didn't. From the factory the nut was adjusted fine, the neck relief was fine, but you could park a bus under the action at the 12th fret. Measurements taken, strings removed, 5 minutes with some fine sandpaper and the saddle was dialed in. It could use some more fine-grained tweaking on the next string change, but right now with 5 minutes worth of setup it plays like butter.

It's not the most complex tone, but the intonation is good and the setup quick (on mine at least). It will be very useful out on the patio during our insane weather, and I won't cringe if I'm accosted with a crayon.

Rated 4 stars with obvious consideration of its general price point. This is a fabulous starter instrument.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

This Guitar was Quite the Surprise when I took it out of the Box. I bought the Natural.Very nice looking except for maybe the pickguard which comes off easy. Very smooth neck and easy & sweet to play. I changed up the Plastic Bridge & Pegs to Graphics Ivory which gave an exellent result ! Not exactly as much Bass as my Washburn D-10 but Close. For Sure this Ax is "One Bang For The Buck".

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I've had this guitar for several months now & it's my favorite guitar to practice on. I find it hard to believe it was so inexpensive. Admittedly, I made some modifications which made a huge difference in playability. This included lowering the bridge slightly by sanding & tightening the truss rod, which, of course, improved the action.
I also put on some light gauge D'Addario Phosphor Bronze strings. The guitar now plays like a dream & sounds as good or better than my moderately more expensive guitars. The intonation also is quite good, considering the unsophisticated plastic bridge.
For a knockaround guitar, it's hard to go wrong with this one, but you may need to make some adjustments to the action & strings to realize its full potential. It's not hard & there are videos available on youtube that make it easy to do.
It's also relatively lightweight for a dreadnought. I keep it handy on a stand next to my computer so I can grab it to play whenever the need arises.

can't comment on "staying in tune" as the guitar is still very new and is getting broken in. it needed constant tuning at first, but seems to be doing well now. the sound is great. MF claims a $300+ MSRP, i paid about half that. at that price point i have absolutely no complaints. this is a great guitar and i highly recommend it. great sound and solid construction.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

A great guitar. I had been playing a 3/4 scale squier acoustic piecer. The change to this was astounding and eye (and ear) opening. Seriously sounds amazing for the price. The only thing that was slightly negative was the finish on the guitar being a bit cheap looking, but c'mon it is an inexpensive guitar.
