Great guitar! After I got my second one...

This is a fantastic guitar for the price! The black looks great, but most importantly it sounds GREAT! Yamaha makes many products and they make them with pride, you can tell.

Sorry M.F. Had to buy this local. The finishes are too inconsistent. 1st, Best sounding but had a bad run on the middle of the neck. 2nd, Sanding / buffing residue in the finish around the sound hole.3rd, Slight bump (speck) in the heel of the neck. This one went home with me. I lowered the nut slots & saddle then had a great player. Later I replaced the saddle with bone & installed strap pins. Note: No strap pin on the neck side of a dreadnought is the normal for most mfg. This is not a ding against this guitar. I have worn out about 1/2 dozen sets of strings on this and have no regrets with the purchase.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar has everything that a basic guitar needs and is well worth the modest price. Please don't expect it to compete with much more expensive guitars but the one I received sounds and plays very good. It is a pleasure to play and to hear. Of course I did not expect to play it without a good setup, One can't expect an an assembly line to put the time required for proper setup into such a low priced item. I enjoy working on guitars so I could have it easily exactly the way I like it. I filed the slots in the plastic nut and replaced the plastic saddle with a compensated bone one which I carefully adjusted, The neck was fine so I did not touch the truss rod, The finish has a few trivial imperfections which almost disappear at arms length, I guess Yamaha has figured out laminated top wood because it sounds good enough to pass for spruce,

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I was given one of these as a Christmas present by my parents when I was 14, and I'm now 58. I still have it! And it is still a wonderful guitar.

If you give this guitar as a gift, the challenge of learning to play may be too daunting for the recipient. If so, you have not spent a lot of money, but you've given the gift of the opportunity to learn to play music. Who knows, somebody else may pick it up and learn. But, if the recipient can put in the effort and practice, this guitar will be perfect.

Like a said, I got mine aged 14 and obsessed over it. I had some friends also into guitar, also at this price-point, and we did just great. You can adjust its neck to get the action you want, experiment with heavier and lighter strings, change tunings, do anything. It is a truly fine instrument that will repay many hours of practice.

Now I'm 58, I also have two very nice Martins and have done the full Gear Acquisition Syndrome thing over the years. The more expensive guitars are really great too. But I would never have gotten into them if not for a Yamaha FG. I'm also looking at a Yamaha TransAcoustic right now...Yamaha make great guitars and I'm (as you can tell) a total fan!

If you're looking to buy this as a gift, you're giving a gift that can add to the lucky recipient's whole life, and you can be sure that the Yamaha FG is a great instrument that will reward the hours and years of practice needed to get good.

If you're looking to buy this for yourself, do yourself a favor and just buy it. Right now.

        Thanks Mum and Dad!

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

This is my first guitar. I've compared it with other guitars since my purchase. I have to say it is far beyond what I hoped for. The price makes it even better which is worth it. I have taken a guitar class at my college and the only one I felt that sounded remotely better was a martin. I always suggest to people that wanna learn to play or need a new guitar that this one is a must buy.

I can't say enough about this instrument! Purchased for daughter to learn on and she loves it! Great quality for the price. Flawless construction and perfect finish. Easy to chord and notes correctly up the fret board. Looks like a much more expensive guitar. Only downside is that some of the woods used in construction of this guitar are not quite the professional grade. But hey, for the price you can't beat it.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I have more expensive acoustics and bought this as a bring along anywhere type guitar. I ordered it and a hardshell case. Musicians friend shipped it in the case. That was super nice to open up my new case and pull out my new purchase. You could smell the new, very nice fit and finish. Got the natural. Pulled the paper from the strings, tuned her up and started strumming. The sound was so rich and warm. Stock strings are just fine till they wear. I've been jamming on it for two weeks solid and clean the strings after each time. Just got back from Florida playing on the beach at my wedding for my new bride. Took it every morning to practice and the projection was amazing even with waves crashing in. We recorded video from there and I was blown away at the tone. For the money you can't go wrong. I love that the neck is not glossed like the body or headstock. Beginner or pro this is a great acoustic. Is it a Taylor or Martin.....no does it sound or play like what you'd expect for the low price.....no. It is a well made, light weight beautiful sounding instrument. Yamaha did a great job. If you are looking for a low cost acoustic that sounds amazing this is the one. I also got the musicians friend hardcase and it fits perfect. Also well worth the money. Just wanted to be as honest as possible because the reviews are why I bought it over any other at twice the price.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

As you can see, I checked the novice box, so I'm not sure how helpful my opinion is for the serious guitar player. However, I can say definitively that this guitar is great value for the money. I had bought a different brand of guitar at a lower price for my wife a year ago. Then I started playing it too, and we realized we each needed a guitar. I bought this one for myself. The Yamaha F335 has a much nicer, fuller, resonating sound than my wife's guitar, but I only paid less than a dozen beans more. I also think the fret board is on the narrow side, making bar chords slightly easier. Since I can only play a handful of chords and I can only hash out songs that I find on Ultimate Guitar, this is a fantastic guitar. It does everything I need it to do and it sounds nice while I do it. I doubt you'll find better value than this.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I am 38 years old, and have been playing off and on since I was 14. My daughters bought me a fender squeir acoustic about 10 -12 years ago for Father's Day. Just last week I was jamming with a much more experienced and skilled guitarist. He recommended I take my fender guitar in and have it setup and adjusted to make getting to chords easier. Long and short is, I took my fender in and it was going to cost 200.00 to get it fixed because there were some other issues with it. I spoke with a few guys there at the shop and they recommended the Yamaha f335. I picked it up, played it for a bit, and walked out with the black one 15 minutes later. I have been playing as usual for a couple hours a day now and absolutely love this Yamaha guitar. I kept my fender and had my daughter and wife write a note and sign it, we are going to hang it up for display.

Just as a FYI... I play Hank senior, Waylon, Merle, and other old country music and this guitar fits the bill.
