I'm gonna be straight forward here. I own a few Gibson electrics as well as some very nice Fenders, so I'm gonna use those for reference. It's an unfair comparison, I know, but trust me on this.I got this thing after owning a few unplayable acoustics. I got a Yamaha because of the quality and the good reputation, and to be honest, because of the price. I'm in the process of getting a nice Guild jumbo, but I wanted a beater, I didn't wanna worry about taking this one all over the place.I've spend hours with this guitars before writing here. It's a very nice acoustic, not the wide open tone you get with some solid tops, not the same sustain, but if you compare it to others in the same price range, this guitar will blow them out of the water. I mean, it's like it doesn't belong in the same category as most guitars out there in this price range. This guitar is very, very easy to play, the neck is quite comfortable if you have medium to large hands. Any old fool can play this, the action was incredible right out of the box, the intonation is ok but not perfect.I got this one new, and it came out with some marks and little things that went away as soon as I cleaned the top a little. The fretboard was dry, but that's easily fixed. The tone is very nice, a nice balance, great for folk and general strumming. Very easy to play leads with this as well, not the best brilliance or volume but a nice, round tone overall. It's got more sustain than other cheap acoustics I've played. No buzzing at all, frets are not jumbo or anything, but it's a smooth neck. Again, incredible action, I can't get over it, that alone is worth the price! The quality is what you would expect for the price. Back and sides look good, the fretboard doesn't look as solid as the Gibson's, but it's perfectly fine. The tuners are smooth. Nut, saddle and pins should and will be replaced, but that can wait a little. The strap pin is a cheap plastic thing, but that also can be replaced for pennies. Cheap guitar but doesn't feel like it at all.Overall, I'm very glad I got this one, and if you want a real nice acoustic on the budget then this is the ticket. Other reviews here speak the truth when they say this is a huge value. it is, glad I took time to do a bit of research.

Guitar has a surface blemish on the face of it. Who ever assembled this guitar tried to sand it out but sanded it in the wrong direction then covered it with a clear finish. The piece of wood should have been thrown away and not used on this guitar but now I'm stuck with it. Not happy with the cosmetic quality of this guitar and will not buy anything from this company ever again

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

As you can see, I checked the novice box, so I'm not sure how helpful my opinion is for the serious guitar player. However, I can say definitively that this guitar is great value for the money. I had bought a different brand of guitar at a lower price for my wife a year ago. Then I started playing it too, and we realized we each needed a guitar. I bought this one for myself. The Yamaha F335 has a much nicer, fuller, resonating sound than my wife's guitar, but I only paid less than a dozen beans more. I also think the fret board is on the narrow side, making bar chords slightly easier. Since I can only play a handful of chords and I can only hash out songs that I find on Ultimate Guitar, this is a fantastic guitar. It does everything I need it to do and it sounds nice while I do it. I doubt you'll find better value than this.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I am 38 years old, and have been playing off and on since I was 14. My daughters bought me a fender squeir acoustic about 10 -12 years ago for Father's Day. Just last week I was jamming with a much more experienced and skilled guitarist. He recommended I take my fender guitar in and have it setup and adjusted to make getting to chords easier. Long and short is, I took my fender in and it was going to cost 200.00 to get it fixed because there were some other issues with it. I spoke with a few guys there at the shop and they recommended the Yamaha f335. I picked it up, played it for a bit, and walked out with the black one 15 minutes later. I have been playing as usual for a couple hours a day now and absolutely love this Yamaha guitar. I kept my fender and had my daughter and wife write a note and sign it, we are going to hang it up for display.

Just as a FYI... I play Hank senior, Waylon, Merle, and other old country music and this guitar fits the bill.

Comments about Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar:

I have played this guitar numerous times for hours at a time. I own a Martin D-18 that costs 20 times as much and I can say that they are VERY similar in overall sound quality. The Martin is brighter and louder and the Yamaha is more mellow but it is not "quite" or subdued. I love my Martin and had owned a few acoustics before I bit the bullet and bought it. If I had played this guitar before I bought my Martin I can honestly say that I might have held off on the Martin. This guitar is worth AT LEAST 8-10 times the price that it is going for. Who knows, I might have gotten a hold of the best one that Yamaha ever made but I've played the Yamaha and Martin side by side and there is not a difference in sound that can account for the difference in price. This guitar is a STEAL at this price.

Bought this guitar to learn on. I didn't want to learn on a cheap low quality guitar. This one feels good, sounds good and plays good. Not the highest quality in terms of looks but not the worst either.

A friend of mine gave me one of these about 30 years ago. I wanted another one for open tuning. The one I've had for years almost plays itself the action was so nice from the start. Never had anything adjusted on the neck or bridge. I was hoping the newer model would be similar . It was, it is.. You might want to change the strings when you get it. For the money, I thinks it's an excellent value!!
