Overall 10/10. I haven't found a single problem with this guitar. Perfectly set up right out of the box. I put some silk and steels on there for the rich warm tone they give ya, and it just sings like you wouldn't believe. Anyone looking for a value priced acoustic without getting something that sounds value priced, this is the best way to go. Especially if you want one with a great look to it too I've been buying/selling guitars for only about 6 years, but I can safely say this, in my opinion, the best bang for your buck. Definitely give this beauty a try.
This guitar is just unbeatable, especially in this price range. You won't find a guitar under $300 that gives you solid top sounds backed by a name like Yamaha. Very VERY impressed with this guitar. Not to metion how well it stays in tune.
I got the cherry burst finish. Beautiful guitar. The neck on this thing feels smoother than any other acoustic under the $500-$600 dollar mark. Very high quality
For the Money, you simply can't beat it. I've worked at 2 different music stores now, and played most popular brands of acoustics from Epiphone, to Takamine, to Ovation, to Ibanez etc... but none of them even come close. I've spent $500 on acoustic guitars that don't sound 1/3 as good as this baby does. If you're looking for a great guitar to record some stuff with or just to go play some gigs, I would whole heartedly recommend this one. I won't be buying another acoustic guitar until I get the money to buy a nicer Yamaha one. VERY impressed with what they've been coming out with the past few years.

Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
Well made.
The one I have sounds a bit twangy when played acoustic.. Have tried several different sets of strings but no help.
This guitar sounds much better when played through a amplifier.
Good price for the quality of construction.

Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
I will first admit that I think the one I bought at a local store is a gem. I have played several others of the same model and even though they are all great, mine just feels different. In a "This guitar is just amazing!" sort of way. Before I bought it I tried out guitars over double the price, as I was prepared to spend a good amount of money. Even though they looked nicer, the sound didn't even come close to this. The neck is very smooth and fast, but it is a big guitar. I am 6 feet tall and this feels like a big guitar to me. But it definitely adds to the sound. It was perfectly set up when purchased and I have not had any problems with it for almost 2 years. It sounds so great, my friend ordered one for himself. If anyone has a negative review about this guitar I'm sure it was just that 1 in 5,000. As stated before I have played several of these and each one has felt very solid and well built.

Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
Great guitar! For the price it cannot be beat. It matches if it is not better than some instruments that far exceed its price range -in sound, feel, construction and looks! My only gripe is that there is no strap button on the neck so either one has to be installed or the strap has to be tied to the headstock.

Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
I have played alot of higher end model guitars such as Martin, Seagull, & Alvarez. This particular guitar sounds every bit as good to me as the Martin did. It is a very pretty guitar and sounds as good as it looks. If you are in the market for an acoustic guitar and have a budget, look no further than this, you will love it.

Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
My friend that I jam with had the red version of this guitar. I previously played on an Epiphone PR-150, which is a decent guitar, but does not produce a big sound, and also does not have a solid top, and the tuners are not that high quality. This guitar blows me away at how much fun it is to play! Every chord I strum feels like it resonates throughout the guitar to my body, and my flat picking comes out clear and precise.

Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
The construction and cosmetic look of this guitar is excellent. Good sound and sustain.
Only problem I have is that the Yamaha FG-730S
Guitar deserves better tuning machines. The ones installed on my FG-730S are not of the quality the guitar should have.
That is my only problem with this guitar.
Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
I am very happy with my purchase. Like all instruments, I would recommend playing as many instruments as you can get your hands on before making a decision. The statements I make are based on my individual experience with the particular Yamaha FG 730S that I play. I do really love it, though.
An earlier reviewer wrote, "a basic guitar". I just can't understand what more a person would expect in this price range or guitars that cost up to three times more. I bought mine off of craigslist and was amazed at the build, solid, I repeat solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides, binding everywhere you look, mother of pearl rosette, sealed tuners and, and. Sheesh, to me that is beyond basic. This is a beautiful, well appointed acoustic guitar. I am very fond of the beautiful gloss finish along with the playability of the satin finish on the neck.
I can find no fault with the fit or finish. I don't think mine had been played or set up. It needed new strings and a slight adjustment to the truss rod. If it lasts as well as it looks, I shouldn't have any complaints. I will say, this is my first rosewood experience. My other guitars are mahogany with spruce tops. The rosewood is a little bright for my taste.
I suspect that I have waxed poetic enough in the above ratings that nothing further needs saying, regarding value.
Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
A nice guitar for the money. Full sounding. Playability is good but you must be able to cope with narrow string spacing. The tuners work well. As mentioned in an earlier review, it is a good primary guitar, and even better to use when you don't want to subject your finer guitar to environmental risk. But a beater? No way. It's still too good to be called that.
A basic guitar that is well made out of decent wood. The tuners are very good. Sound is quite loud, and while deep rosewood tones come through well, the overall impression is a bit on the bright and brassy side (d'addario exp 11). But the sound is very well articulated. The neck is fairly narrow and the strings are closer than on many similar guitars. For the price, very nice.
Good hardware, good wood, and good construction. Mine is a little sloopy on the interior gluing, but nothing to care about. It needed a bit of set up work before it played well. But now, with a low action, it does not care for hard strumming, so I have yet to achieve a balanced set up on this one.
An absolutely excellent value.
Comments about Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar:
A fine value. Sound is loud, clear and (almost too) brilliant, but still delivers dreadnaught depth. It is well constructed out of nice materials. It can be pushed with hard strumming, yet will deliver beautiful, quiet articulation. With a little time spent on getting the set up right, this is a great instrument to own. It is especially suited to be a first guitar or one to use when you don't want to pull out the expensive ones (like around the campfire). Don't call it a "beater", though, because it is way, way too good for that! Of particular note are the tuners which are very good. They hold their tuning like a vise. Even if this your only guitar, you will be well served.
A nicely made guitar. Great tuners. Sound is loud and full. It is voiced a bit high ended for a dreadnaught, but still has the bottom end.
Very nice wood and construction quality. Mine needed some action work (neck, nut and bridge adjustments) and it is fairly playable, but nothing like the feel of the big names like Martin or Taylor; and nothing like their cost. Tone is slightly uneven across the neck , but is generally quite pleasing and better than nearly anything at this price.
For the money, this is an exceptional guitar.
