A medium-jumbo acoustic guitar with a wide dynamic range.
The Yamaha FJX720SC Solid Spruce Top Mahogany Acoustic-Electric Guitar has a medium-jumbo body with a piezo 1-way pickup system. This Yamaha guitar delivers a sound with well-defined bass, wide dynamic range, and excellent response.
Controls for the Yamaha FJX720SC's under-bridge-mounted piezo pickup are mounted on the acoustic-electric's side for optimum access. The battery compartment is also located on the side, close to the neck, to provide easy replacement.
The Yamaha acoustic-electric's preamp is a version of the Yamaha System55, equipped with a chromatic tuner. The tuner is accurate, easy to use, and easy to view. You can use the tuning mode by pressing a single button even if you have no cable connected. Turning the tuner on or off will not affect the output in any way. The tuner also comes with a one-minute auto-off timer to save battery power.
The body's non-scallop, X-type bracing design delivers deep lows full of presence that are unique to the Yamaha sound, and a clear upper end, making a clear and tight response. The head design includes real mother-of-pearl inlay on the headstock and adds a touch of class not found often in this price range. Yamaha's original L-block neck design offers faster transfer of string vibration to the guitar's body for greater depth and tone while enhancing stability around the neck joint. The Yamaha FJX720SC's large bridge offers greater transfer of string vibration to the body producing a tight and clear mid-range with full, balanced tone. Smooth lines and edges keep the playing surface unencumbered.

I wanted to buy my first acoustic guitar after playing with electrics for a few years. For sure I wanted a solid top so I knew I would be looking in the lower price range of that class. I tried many guitars all over the place. Some of similar price came close to being my purchase from the likes of Fender, Takamine, and a Cort that I rather liked. This Yamaha edged them out in my decision. It played just a little smoother, sounded just a little nicer, fit my hands a little better, had at little less buzz tendency. A lovely brown sunburst FJX720C ended up coming home with me after weeks of searching. Mine had no flaws or quality issues, electronics sound nice and clean. The tuner works nice but I don't really have anything else to compare that to, nor do I really care. Great job Yamaha!

I searched all around for an acoustic-electric, and for the price, this praticular guitar is the best option. Its still plays just as perfect as it did two years ago when I bought it. Don't hesitate, buy this now!
