Got this for my daughter a few years ago for Christmas. The pack I got her was different and came with a different tuner and a headphone set instead of an amp. She never really took to it so I played while I was shopping around for a Telecaster and it has actually become my second guitar for gigs. I've had some tune-up work done on it but all in all it has turned out to be a very comfortable to play guitar and plugged straight into my Marshall amp gets a great raw rock sound.

My friend got one of these things and they are horrible. The amp is really small, quiet, and just flat out sounds crappy, the distortion is horrible and the clean is even worse. The guitar isn't much better, the bridge pickup sounds decent for a starter guitar this cheap, but its still not very good and the rest of the pickups have a horrible humming sound that is very noticable. Also the guitar falls apart easily. It barely stays in tune because when you tune it, the tuners pop and knocks it back out of tune and you'll end up finding yourself tuning for hours. Don't buy this guitar pack, spend the extra money and get a squier starter pack, youll get a nice little fender frontman 15G amp and a guitar a lot better than this one.

Not the best

By miniems191

I got this pack about 3 years ago. The case was WAY too small and the chord was cheap. As a beginner, I thought it was good but I realised that the amp really sucked. Buy this for your son or daughter who wants to learn. Don't give to a person with experience because they'll grow out of it.

Yamaha GigMaker Electric Guitar Pack

By Guitarman-N0g90

from Atlanta, Georgia

Are you a beginner who is looking for a quality guitar? Well you have come across the right guitar. This Yamaha EG-112 GigMaker Pack is the best deal a beginning guitarist can make. This yamaha guitar provides a rich tone and quality sound. Sure, there are many guitars out there that may be of quality but for a price above $500. However, you will never come across another quality guitar that offers everything a guitarist needs for a low price. Why,you may ask how do I know, well thats cause I've been there and I bought this guitar as a beginning guitarist. I have had this guitar for three years and it has never failed me. Its sound is still the same as the day I bought it. This is the best guitar to start with not only because of its quality but because it comes with all the acessories you need for a low price. This package comes with picks, an amp, tuner, strap, strings, gigbag, and hal leonards method book. I still remember when I got my GigMaker Pack, I was amazed of how much it offered for a low price, I couldn't stop playing it. This is the best deal you can make. Believe me, I know what it feels like to be a beginner who has no clue what guitar to buy. So take my word, buy this nice, quality, low price quitar, and plug it in your new amp and see what I'm talking about.

This is a great guitar

By The all knowing yogurt

from Indiana

I have played many electric guitars and this one is very good. It is most like my instructor's standard fender stratocaster as far as the way it feels. The amp and strap are pretty good, and the guitar sounds great. This is the best guitar you coud get for its price range.

The absolut best way to get started!!

By Nouseforaname

from Telluride, CO

About two months ago I came across the Yamaha Gigmaker Jam Pack while surfing the internet. When I saw how much you get for so little I was blown away. I read reviews and figured why not. Two months into it and I'm still loving it. I play for at least an hour every night and have made a great deal of progression in learning in a very short time-mostly on my own. It takes time and practice, but with all that you get with this jampack you can't help but want to. The only reason I gave this product a 9 on the quality is because the strap is little uncomfortable after awhile. But the guitar itself is worth the price of the whole deal. And who hasn't dreamnt of at least owning a strat style guitar? The case seems well constructed and fits nice, though I don't use it very often. The amp surprised me with how loud it gets without being turned up too loud. A great stand, enough information to get you playing (again it takes time and paitience) and a ton of extras-you can't really go wrong. I looked at other deals similar to this, but they really don't match up to this. I'm completely hooked on my new hobby!!

Excellent beginner guitar

By Spoonman

from Bellevue, WA

I got this guitar just over 2 years ago, but it has a white pickguard which I must say doesn't look nearly as good as the all-black scheme. The guitar itself is great quality. I really like the SSH configuration, which lets you play just about any style of music you want. You may want to adjust the strings and tunings a bit though. Do that and you'll want to play this guitar even after you get good and are ready for a higher-end model. I'd probably pay the price of the pack just for the guitar. The amplifier on the other hand is a piece of crap. It's okay for starters at first, but soon you'll feel limited by the horrible quality. I suggest replacing it with a Roland Cube. Everything else is fine. I'm not sure why I didn't recieve a DVD or stand when I opened the box, maybe because they only started including those recently. Overall this is one of the best starter packs out there, at a great value. Yamaha is quality stuff.

Ggreat guitar, everything else is crap!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've had this guitar for 4 years. It is the older model with the white pick guard. First off it is very solid and affordable. You just better have money so you can replace a couple of things. The input jack broke, pickups were wired wrong, tremolo springs are not good, and the strings that came with it suck. After all of that is replaced, adjust the pickup height until you get the amount of output you want. It actually has a decent sound. The only other thing that I am doing to it is putting Seymour Duncan pickups in it. I also recommend another amp. It is actually the worst amp I have ever heard.

Great for Beginners

By Too Old for Gigs

from Sacramento, CA

If your looking for a good beginner's guitar, this is the one. The guitar alone is worth twice the current price for the whole pack. I suggest you spend the extra $45 or $55 for a professional tune-up to maximize the tonal quality and to deal with any fret buzz. (Have them put on some lighter strings as well.)I wouldn't say the tone is great, but it sounds really nice through a compressor. The double-coil bridge pickup gives it a real rock guitar sound. The narrow neck makes it easier for players with small hands. As soon as your proficiency and wallet allows, replace the cheap practice amp with one that has some guts.
