Comments about Yamaha LL16-12 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
THIS WAS MY FIRST SERIOUS GUITAR IN MY LIFE AS A TEENAGER. I JUST ACQUIRED IT AGAIN AND I COULDN'T BE MORE SATISFIED. I THINK I'LL CHANGE OUT THE STRINGS AFTER THEY BREAK TO GET EVEN BETTER TONE. THE SETUP IS LOW AND VERY WELL DONE ALL THE WAY UP THE FRETBOARD. THE CASE IT CAME IN WAS BETTER THAN THE ONE I HAD WAITING FOR IT WHEN IT SHIPPED. NOW I'M TEMPTED TO GET THIS IN 6-STRING TOO!

Comments about Yamaha LL16-12 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
Got this guitar about 2 ago and couldn't be happier with it. The sound really projects and has great tone. The factory strings really weren't that bad, but I installed a set of Martin FX strings anyway. Silky clean sound. The only other guitar I tried before this one was the Martin D12X1AE. The Yamaha blew it away. Tuners work great and great overall construction. Also very nice it came with case included.

Comments about Yamaha LL16-12 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
I have an old Yamaha FG-435 I got in the eighties that I love, so when I decided to buy a new 12-string, I started looking at Yamahas. I almost got their FG series 12-string, but decided to upgrade to the LL16-12 instead. Man, am I glad I did! This guitar is absolutely wonderful. It looks great. And it feels and sounds even better. The tone is rich and well-balanced when strumming. Single note licks and power chords have an incredible bass growl. And boy is this guitar loud if you use a pick! It's much mellower if you finger pick. I love the satin finish on the neck. Very comfortable. Stays in tune very well. I've been playing this Yamaha LL16-12 for about two weeks now, and I can't find any flaws - no blemishes or construction errors, nothing I don't like or wish was different. I love this experience of playing a hand made guitar.
I also had a very good experience ordering this guitar from Musician's Friend. It's hard to slap down money for an instrument you haven't ever seen, but the process was very convenient and the product is top notch!
Nothing fancy, but everything well done. The woods used in making this guitar are top notch and beautiful. The sound is awesome! The abalone rosette is very pretty. Came with a "semi hard case" that is very nice, and unexpected. The case is quite sturdy and versatile (can even be rigged to be worn as a backpack!). I wouldn't use it to check my guitar in an airplane, but everything up to that would be fine.
Very high quality. Can't find a rough spot or blemish. Every fret is perfect. Tuners are very stable. The inside is very clean, no excess glue.
I feel that I have gotten way more than my money's worth.
Comments about Yamaha LL16-12 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
Great service, great website, many products to choose from.
The only down side is that I did not qualify for "Free Shipping" because I live in Ketchikan, Alaska. I had to pay a substanital amount in addition to the product itself.
It's not like I live in China. Alaska is part of the United States, so I hope this changes soon.
Great item. We like the quality of the wood, the gold plated parts and the abolone shell.
We were impressed with the qualit and , the case which was a nice surprise.

The Yamaha LL16-12 is the best bang for the buck.
Review of Yamaha LL16-12 12 string guitar
Initial impression: Tuned one fret down, with factory strings, sounded loud, kind of brash.
My set-up: I replaced the strings with Martin phosphor bronze extra light gauge, tuned down two frets lower in pitch; replaced the saddle with bone, and the bridge pins with Tusq. (hint: use 2mm dot black pins; they ride high in the bridge, and the black will make this look less obvious.) After the strings settled down a week later, this is the finest 12 string guitar I have ever played or heard.
Wood:
Engelmann spruce top: As per the Yamaha factory video on YouTube, the wood is aged two years (not kiln dried), and the Engelmann is European. Color: amber, indicating aged Engelmann or European wood. Thin finish on top, which is ideal. No evidence of sound breaking down when played loud. The wood grain is straight, moderately wide (wide grain gives more base response; narrow grain gives better treble response.) Rosewood back and sides are beautiful. The finish is perfect.
Construction:
The neck is wonderful; fits nicely in my hand; easy chording, easy fingerpicking, perfect balance as far as weight is concerned. It feels heavy enough to be really strong. A beautiful guitar, heavily built. The pickquard might look better in tortoiseshell, but black is OK. Take off the protective film from the pickguard, or it will look ugly. The binding is nylon, but OK. (Taylor uses nylon binding on their $2,700 12 string!) I like the tuners… beautiful, smooth, better than the tuners that were on the Guild 12 string I checked out. Neck set angle: OK... Same as on My Yamaha FG700S, FG720S, and FG720S-12, resulting in a 2mm height of the saddle above the bridge, at the high E string. (My Tacoma JR55 and Larrivee D03-R have 4 mm clearance of the saddle above the bridge, at this location.)
Tone:
Wonderful tone; full and rich with a white Cool pick, crisp with a thinned-down “tortoiseshell” Clayton pick. Very nice tone with finger picks. Projection is average when tuned down two frets; loud when tuned higher. Not muddy (a problem with some rosewood 12 string guitars); good string definition. Beautiful bass, sweet treble. Wonderful overtones.
Value:
Purchased as mint-condition used. It was the steal of a lifetime. Even if you have to pay full price for a new one, it is still a good value, considering that it beats out every other 12 string I have checked out...
Conclusion: This guitar is wonderful. I recommend it.
Comments about Yamaha LL16-12 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
I recently got this guitar for christmas and it is absolutely beautiful. The sound is simply stunning to say the least. I have searched for about 6 months to find the right 12 string for me and this is it. I highly recommend buying this guitar.
