I have lots and lots of books, seriously when I say alot, I mean alot over 25 years of collecting but I will say this is the best book I have. Whan I was playing in bands I kept this book in my guitar case, I still use this book and I bought it years ago. You cant go wrong with this.

This is one of the best books that teaches lead guitar I have ever seen. Troy Stetina teaches the basic right and left hand techniques that everyone should know, then walks you through the rest of the technique chapter to help totally master the "mechanics" of playing guitar. He then goes on to teach about creativity. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is serious about mastering lead guitar. I'm finding it incredibly helpful in my playing.

This is an excellent book for increase your speed, accuracy and developing finger independence. Lots of examples and items to practice. The cd is ok, I think they should have broken down the tracks so that there was one track per each lesson vs. having to scan half way through a track to hear the lesson you are working on. Overall this was worth the money and I would recommend.

Troy Stetina wrote this book to focus mainly on the technical speed aspects of lead guitar, namely speed picking and sweep picking. It covers both techniques in many examples, and exercises to help break the physical barrier that prevents you from being able to play these techniques. The Cd would be better if separated into smaller sections, as it is it only shows separately the larger entire pieces, of which there are about 3, that are included in the book, the rest are just grouped togerther as 1 track per section. It has a composing section, but unless well versed in guitar method and music theory, it can be confusing. Also the speed picking sections are shown in picking as just up, down, up, which is not always the needed pattern. On the other side, it shows fingering, a must on more difficult licks, and has examples of almost every pattern of speed picking that follows normal scales or modes. Over all, it's very useful.
