Used this unit for one gig so far and it sounded great. Super fast to pair up and had no problem at all. I am happy with my purchase and recommend.

Its hit or miss with this set up

Comments about Shure SLX SM58 Handheld Wireless System:

I bought this unit a few years a go and was happy as could be since I was so happy with the way the wired mics quality was. Since I have started using this set up I have had nothing but problems. Signal drops within 20-30 feet of the receiver in direct site of the mic is very common. You can not put your hand on ceratain areas of the mic or you wont get any signal. There will be loud absurd screeching noises like a record scratching as soon as you start talking into the mic. Nobody has been able to figure that one out. It does it at random times and I had to use a Sennheiser for the following three shows after the failure. The crowd was not happy for the delay. Nor was I. I am currently saving up to get a Sennheiser and trying to sell this crappy set up. Do not waste your time or your money on this set up until Shure figures out these problems. Doesnt matter if you change channels or reconfigure everything. I still get that loud screeching noise. MAy be good for indoor events but avoid by all means for outdoor events. Would not recommend to anybody.

        Here's my experience

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Shure SLX SM58 Handheld Wireless System:

I purchased one of these for our church after an older UT4 unit started having minor issues. I started with a PGX and returned it thinking the unit was bad as I will futher explain. I then moved to the SLX unit. When I installed the unit everything seemed fine, easy setup, nice package, rack mount, etc. On the first use I immediately noticed a lot of distortion in the transmission. The best way to describe it is sounding like a dead battery on an old wireless unit, fuzzy. It was so noticable that lay congregation members asked what was wrong with the mic. This was very noticable on pronounced vowel sounds and a trailing input. Needless to say after using both PGX and SLX with the same result I am convinced the transmitter/receiver circuitry in these units are the same with just a few more bells and whistles on the SLX. Both units have poor quality circuitry and audio quality and simply will not be acceptable for me. I discussed my issues with Shure and gave them digital recordings of the poor audio. They acknowledged my complaint and said they could hear some artifacts from the companding circuitry, but nothing to indicate a bad unit. As a professional this quality was unacceptable. Our old Shure UT4 wireless systems sounds great. What happened Shure? Signal chain for the old unit and new unit were identical so I quickly ruled my equipment out. I tried everything under the sun to figure out if we were a unique case getting some weird interference, but to no avail. I decided to have our older unit repaired instead. We now have an old UT4 wireless unit with a new SLX as a backup.

        Shure SLX SM58 Wireless

        By Rob-Y6ISN

Comments about Shure SLX SM58 Handheld Wireless System:

Do Not Drop It! We have four Shure SM 58 wireless Mics. They install easily, work flawlessly and sound great. Unlike their bulletproof hardwired brothers the trasmiter and battery box are light plastic and will not stand more than one or two impacts on a padded carpet floor. Three of my four are unservicable after less than a year of hard service. One is held together with electrician's tape. I'm attempting to get repairs/parts now.

        This mic rocks

Comments about Shure SLX SM58 Handheld Wireless System:

I have tried cheaper mics but they didn't live up to how good they said that they would preform, but this mic is well worth the money sounds excellent and preforms just as good as it sounds.

Comments about Shure SLX SM58 Handheld Wireless System:

I love wired Shure Mics so purchasing this wireless was a natural choice of mine only to regret later. One came defective with popping sound from receiver so I tossed it immediately. Sound drops, cheap receiver, uneven pre-set volume, come on Shure, what happened to you?!
