I am not quite sure what the other reviewers are talking about because this is the most steady and stable hi-hat stand I've ever played. The foot pedal is made of solid metal. The whole thing is metal, and it's not flimsy. The legs adjust easily, and the hat mechanism itself is easy to use and adjust as well. It even has screw spikes AND velcro on the bottom to keep it in place. Two legs means it's easier to fit into your kit, especially when using a double-bass pedal. The legs rotate if necessary. Overall, very happy with this purchase, especially considering I got it on sale.

So I use this pedal to accommodate my Mapex double pedal. Thinking that this would be a good buy because of its 2 legs, I was looking forward to using it to accommodate my double pedal nicely. However, it didn't turn out the way I'd liked. This pedal is flimsy--made of sturdy enough material and metals and the whole shabang--but it just doesn't feel sturdy.I got this pedal for a good enough price so I'm
not gonna return it, but don't spend your money on this pedal if you're looking for a good, solid hi hat stand. And for anyone looking to buy a hi hat stand to accommodate a double pedal, I'd highly recommend getting a 3-legged swivel base hi hat stand because three legs will naturally give you more solidness and support than a 2 legged pedal. Just my humble opinion. No, I am not one of those haters that just give equipment a bad rating for the heck of it,, I'm just a musician who wants good equipment for myself and other drummers like myself. Rock on folks.

One down from the Concept line, This stand functions beautifully. The Tension adjustment is a definite bonus. Compared to entry level stands, the performance of this stand is far above. Responsive, solidly built and so smooth. I couldn't be happier overall. This sits perfectly along side the PDP 502 Double Pedal or single pedal if you're not into that. Initially I was looking at going with the Concept line of pedals and stands but less than the price of the Concept direct drive double pedal I got this awesome stand and an excellent heavy hitting 502 pedal. Awesome!

Comments about PDP 800 Series Hi-Hat Stand:

A good quality, well made stand, however it lacks the heft required to be considered road worthy (in my humble opinion). This also contributes to the fact that the 800 series hi-hat stand lacks the stability of my DW 500 series, two legged stand (My primary gigging hi hat stand). The PDP 800 is a good economical practice stand, but invest in a beefier stand that will stand up to road abuse.

Comments about PDP 800 Series Hi-Hat Stand:

The clutch came in two pieces. The threaded shaft (that holds the top cymbal) inserts into the top-piece (that affixes the clutch to the hi-hat rod). The top piece opening is not threaded but machined smooth. A 1.5 mm hex screw secures the two parts together...no allen wrench included. I had to purchase the allen wrench but then the screw was frozen and would not move. Come-on pdp....secure the two pieces together before you box the stand. No clutch means the hi-hat stand is useless. Thank goodness I carry a spare clutch....playing a gig without a hi-hat would be ugly! The hi-hat stand itself works OK.
