Great sound - just like you're cabled, but, you have the option to go mingle with the crowd and see how the band sounds on "that side" of the monitors!! and see the look on their face when you haller out FREEBIRD!!!! I have used this unit with a guitar (EDS-1275) and a p-bass, and it worked equally fine in both situations.. GET ONE!! You will never want to be tied to your amp again..
an On /Off switch - EASY to figure out!! Plus the Gain control is great for balance!!
Seems solidly built, on the first act, I did manage to dump the receiver on the floor and it still worked fine afterward. The signal is strong - with no drop out, even when I'm on the other side of the dance hall dancing / jumping / carrying on..
It has all the controls I think I need..

i give it a middle-of - road ratiung simply because it died on me, i am very careful with my gear, it was never dropped or abused. for what i paid for it a year ago i would expect it to have lasted longer, especially the reciever. I could understnad the transmitter going out if you moved around alot, it seems to hold up well. still working but worthless without the receiver.
This unit worked great for several months, everything i could ask for, then it started popping in and out power wise. Now its a door stop. The reciever seems to be the issue, no warranty.
the quality of the transmitter is good, the reciever seems to be where the problems come in, and the power requirement seems to bw an odd9v= set.
could be cheaper in my opinion, unless they upgrade the power supply chord and issues with the reciever

Comments about Sennheiser FreePort Instrument Wireless System:

I just got it and I am really happy with it,..I play it with a six strings bass guitar and my sound and tone still sounding amazing with this wireless and for that price,..it is smaller than i thought wich make it is easy to carry around, and the most important as a bassist is that you can hear clearly and nicely de lows ends of the bass, and it dosent produce any micro seconds delays of the signal like other wireless does.

Comments about Sennheiser FreePort Instrument Wireless System:

I am an experienced former professional musician that has been playing for 57 years. I AM A ROCKER!

For the money this was a great deal. I bought two because wanted to have a backup I purchased these in Oct 2007. The first one I started using I am still using today playing weekend gigs. I NEVER even used the 2nd one other than to open it and test it.

Once I set up the balance of the transmitter and receiver to you guitar pickup output everything was stable. I use a couple of different guitars and I sometimes have to adjust the receiver output to the my floor effects processor.

I never get dropouts even from across the club room. However only once I had to change my frequency because of interference at only one specific club. I think it was from the wireless transmitter for the buildings air handlers. Once I changed the frequency NO MORE PROBLEMS ANYWHERE.

The unit seem durable enough after all I have been using it for 7 years. The transmitter factory antenna wore out but I made another. Also the factory cable from the guitar to the transmitter wore out and I made another one of these also.

I use rechargeable 9V batteries and one lasts me the whole night. The trick is to get a 9 Volt charger that shuts down to a trickle charge when the battery is fully charged so as to not cook the battery to death.

The unit is quiet enough I cant really hear and humming and NO pops even when I turn off the transmitter while I am hot just an ever so slight click.

The sound reproduction to my ears seem to be just a little brighter than using hardwire but that is easily compensated for with some tone adjustment. The first night I used it out with our duo act my wife flipped out how well it performed and sounded. Another good byproduct is that when I lower the guitar volume with the volume knob the tone seem to be stable. Nice and crisp and NOT muddy.

If you want a better quality sound like the rich pros do then get a bank busting unit the cost of a used car. This one cost me about 2-3 gig nights pay.

THIS REVIEW IS FROM MY OBSERVATION AND OPINION.

Comments about Sennheiser FreePort Instrument Wireless System:

I was aprehensive about purchasing this given my experience with wireless is you need to spend at least three C notes to get anything that reproduces well and accurately so I took a chance given I tend to trust the Sennheiser name. My risk taking paid off. If you want a basic wireless instrument set up with no frills at all with the same high quality sound reproduction, get it. The only negative I would give this unit is the transmitter is all plastic and the battery campartment doesn't latch very securely so no stage diving while wearing it. Overall I'm very please with this unit.

Comments about Sennheiser FreePort Instrument Wireless System:

I've used this 4 times at live stages so far. Each time everything had a smooth and clean sound. You couldn't even tell I was playing digital and not cabled. That is the defintion of great wireless. Each usage time was about 2 hours (soundcheck+show). That's 8 hours and the battery is still fine. TIP: Turn the gain on the receiver down when playing alot in an overdrive channel.

Comments about Sennheiser FreePort Instrument Wireless System:

Easy to use, plug in and go. Invest in some rechargeable 9v batteries. I haven't road tested it yet, so we will see on that, and if you attach the transmitter to your strap it may hang a bit funky, but clip turns so you can distribute the weight evenly. For the price, seems to be a great unit by a trustworthy brand.

Comments about Sennheiser FreePort Instrument Wireless System:

You cannot turn the body pack on/off without first muting the amplifier. Otherwise you get a loud pop when you turn the body pack off. This makes it difficult to switch instruments, unless you have a sound guy managing the board. Unfortunately, I don't.
