Ok, I don't like to review a product right away... right now and after 6 years using this unit 4 times a week for 4hr shows, is time to tell my experience.
Actually not much to say other than this unit is the best unit I've ever owned and will never ever change it for anything else. My other guitar player and keyboard player also own the same unit for 5yr and 3yr, never a problem either.
I have beat up both my transmiter and receiver multiple times... I kicked it, drop beer on it, stepped on it as well as other members of the band and people that was watching us, and the unit still works perfectly fine as the first day I got it. I play bass and guitar and the sound is in HD, crystal clear, excellent low end and Fantastic punch!!!!!!
I've been in venues with other bands using wireless set ups in a wide variety of band frequencies, some of the other bands had interference problems... not us, never!... I remember playing with people using similar band frequencies as my unit and I've never had a drop in signal. I noticed the receiver switching frequencies when there was interference that anyone noticed because the receiver switched them so fast is 100% perfect, my sound engineer noticed this several times while recording our performances in big venues.
I have to tell to the few people that gave lower rates to this unit that they are absolutely wrong. I think that they may not be running the unti properly and its hard to believe when this unit is fully automatic... Just plug and play.
Well i hope this review will help and if you can afford it this is the unit you need, period!

Well I am now on the second unit and I have had the same problem w/each one. When playing a song and you kill the volume on your guitar and all is nice and quiet, if you bump the body pack be it light or hard against your ax or body the sound ends up being heard through your amp and the house. I tried to lower the volume and the gain down but it was still there. I contacted Shure and was told that there might be some slight noise but if it was too much to send it in and they would fix it. Well since it was new I returned it to MF and they sent out another one and low and behold it does the same exact thing uneceptable for the price of the unit. Other then that it is a great unit and its easy to use, just wish they would address the body pack problem.

    Disappointed in this unit

    By FoderaBassPlayer

    from Indianapolis

Comments about Shure ULXS14 Wireless Instrument System:

Purchased this unit last year. The ULXS14 is simple to use right of the box. However, I have had issues with this unit : 1. It requires a 9v battery and only works with very expensive Li-Ion 9v rechargeables. 2. Even when using the recommended brands of 9v rechargeables the unit misreads the charge amount of the battery and so you get shorter battery life (like 1.5 hrs). 3. The unit at times gets intermitent on signal drop-outs where the signal starts to come in and out at unectected times. I perform weekly and am at the point where I am looking to replce this unit and perhaps go with a Sennheiser, which use AA rechargeable batteries and have better performance reliability.

    Cool

    By Donnie Carter

Comments about Shure ULXS14 Wireless Instrument System:

I've had this only a few months now but it works great. I don't get feedback and I don't have to worry about a tangled cord. You do have to be careful with the reciever and the body pack because they're plastic. I've got mine in a rack mount and I'm pretty confident it will be ok in there. Just take care of it and it will do its job.

    Top notch performance in Wireless!

    By Dave-6gJoo

Comments about Shure ULXS14 Wireless Instrument System:

Excellent sound on my 5 string Bass. Range is amazing! The auto frequency scanning is a must-have for the traveling musician! My only concern is the 1 year warranty. All in all the best wireless product I've ever used. Very user-friendly!

    Great wireless

    By JohnnyHero

    from Boiling Springs, PA

Comments about Shure ULXS14 Wireless Instrument System:

I've been using this for about a month now and it's hands down the best wireless I've ever owned. I've had several but have gotten rid of all of them because of static, dropouts and poor tonal quality. This is definitely worth the money. It sounds just like you're using a cable. Go for it.

Great wireless... But no Mute function.

    By GuitarGeek-NR

    from North Reading, MA

Comments about Shure ULXS14 Wireless Instrument System:

I have one unit for my guitar and another for my headset mic, and they have worked flawlessly for about two years now. Sound quality is great! Ease of use is great! Reliability has been great! ...But the lack of a mute switch means that I get loud pops during instrument switches, and whenever I need to silence my mic (or if I switch the transmitter OFF, loud pops + radio noise). I'm seriously thinking about switching to the Shure PGX series which has a mute function on the bodypack.
