OVERVIEW

The hum-canceling DiMarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz pickup for bass guitar takes a traditional Fender Jazz Bass sound and really opens it up. Harmonic overtones jump off the strings. It's also quick, with instant response to either fingers or pick-style playing. There's only one word for this combination of qualities: musical. Choose the perfectly matched Ultra Jazz pair, or try an Ultra Jazz bridge pickup with a Split P in the middle position.

Lows are deeper, highs are more percussive and the mid-range is round but not muddy.

Comments about DiMarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz Bass Pickup Set:

I play bass in high gain, high volume concert settings. The hum from my Fender Jazz bass was driving me, and everyone else nuts. The Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups fixed that.

Comments about DiMarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz Bass Pickup Set:

I am a longtime guitarist and have recently picked up the bass. Bought a nice MIM J bass, but the noisy PUPs were killing me. Talked to a bunch of guitar techs and they all said the best bang for the buck are these Dimarzios. Installation was a breeze...I could have done it, but my tech only charged twenty and; now that I have seen it done I would do it in the future myself. AND they sound great....changed the whole nature of the instrument and my playing. If you do one upgrade, this is it...really noticeable and very easy..

Great sound for this rock bassist!

Comments about DiMarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz Bass Pickup Set:

WARNING: Be sure you measure your pickup cavities. I have a Mexican J-Bass and the Bridge Pickup was too big. They explain this on the manufactures web site and have an alternative if you don't want to sand a bit off.
Can be coil-tapped and wired out of phase if desired. I just went with the straight humbucker.
Built like a tank, very soild.
Simply can't getting a better upgrade for your J-Bass.

        Jazz Upgrade

Comments about DiMarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz Bass Pickup Set:

I've replaced the stock pickups in my Squier 60's Vibe Jazz bass with a set of Ultra Jazz pickups. They sound terrific with standard series wiring but I went a step further and wired them with push/pull pots giving me an S1 series/parallel option. Its still a passive bass but the tonal variations are absolutely amazing. For a few extra dollars and very little soldering its a great modification.
