An MPC that moves effortlessly between studio and stage.

The centerpiece of the MPC Live is a full-color 7 in. multi-touch screen that puts complete creative control at your fingertips. Simple gestures become complex polyrhythmic drum patterns and sophisticated effects automation can be crafted faster and with greater precision than ever. The MPC Live features 16, velocity and pressure-sensitive RGB pads, perfect for getting the full expressive range out of your kits. Its feel is legendary and has been at the heart of digital music production for decades now. But if you haven’t programmed an MPC lately, you’re missing out on an interface whose range of expression is unmatched.

Studio Centerpiece, On-Stage Powerhouse
Being able to pivot from creator to performer means more people have the opportunity to see and hear your music. The MPC Live makes the process of transporting your studio creations on to the stage incredibly seamless by combining the power of a production centerpiece with the portability and rugged design of an on-stage workhorse.

At just 5.5 lb., MPC Live fits into a small gig bag or backpack and light enough to carry to the gig or another studio. But what makes the MPC Live truly unprecedented is nothing so portable has ever been this powerful. With 16 gigs of on-board storage, the MPC Live features numerous ways to take your sample library and MPC sessions anywhere. Files can be accessed and transferred to the built on-board storage via the built-in SD card slot and/or two-port USB hub. The same USB hub can also be used for MIDI controller connectivity.

To Plug or Not to Plug
Whether you prefer to go computer-free or not, there are some fantastic sounding VST instruments and effects out there. For those times when you need your favorite plug-ins, MPC Live effortlessly goes from formidable standalone to high-powered MIDI controller, explicitly engineered to run the powerful MPC Software 2.0 on the computer in a DAW or standalone. A number of new features added to 2.0 include: Audio track recording, improved time warp, enhanced Q-Link control, audio and MIDI drag and drop—all appearing on a new graphical interface.

Infinite Sounds, Unlimited Inspiration
The MPC has a reputation for sounds that hit hard and sound great, right out of the box. The X builds on that reputation. Pre-installed with 10 gigs of world-class sounds, The Vault 2.0 features samples and kits from top-notch sound design companies including Capsun Audio, MVP Loops, CR2 Records, as well as Akai’s own. Comments about Akai Professional MPC Live:

After some aggressive popular demand, we the people have spoken and Akai delivered. Its here, a standalone MPC in 2017. Finally.

I use it soley for creating backing beats for my vocals. You can sample anything into the 1/4" line inputs. There's an RCA phono input complete with ground connector. Or upload straight from an SD card, USB thumbdrive or a third party SSD sata drive you install yourself under the unit. However, it does not sample from the USB ports. Not a deal breaker for me though, but I hope we see this in a future update. Plenty of tools to edit and morph your samples. If you ever used an MPC before, the grounds are familiar but with loads of added features that you have to get acquainted with, but nothing to distract you from actually creating music, the learning curve is pretty low. You learn it more as you progress, I never got into the MPC software of the Renaissance, but I was able to know my way around and fast.

I was mixed up at first not being accustomed to touchscreen production, for I'm used to dedicated buttons on the front panel of devices, so I got lost a couple times but after a few hours with it, things were already becoming second nature and workflow became easier and easier.

Great machine so far in its beta form. Akai is already addressing issues like having no wifi or bluetooth activated even though its printed on the box. Some bells and whistles are coming soon. But if you need a box to make beats with an unlimited supply of samples, the MPC Live works just fine for that.

Comments about Akai Professional MPC Live:

A brilliant step up from previous MPCs, this brings together all the strands of possibilities in a much more usable package. Though I have only been using for a week, banging out beats and finding new ways to create has been non-stop. I previously owned the 4000, and this is miles ahead of that machine.

The size of the device is convenient. Last night, I ran for 5 hours on the battery. Sampling is far easier than previous MPCs, and takes about 30 seconds to set up. Most features are easily accessible through the main menu. I have still barley scratched the surface, but am already blown away by the potential. This will certainly be central to my studio going forward.

Other Equipment: Waldorf MW 1, Pulse 2, Blofeld, MicroBrute, DrumBrute, Roland SP404sx, MAM ADX1, TT-78, Volca Kick, TD9 Kit, Emu Procussion, Etc.

      The Real Deal!!!!!

Comments about Akai Professional MPC Live:

Wide arsenal of capabilities, love the portability. I installed a 240GB SSD drive and this is more than a beast production standalone unit. Akai has stoked the fire with this one. I own NI Maschine Studio and must say I expect some competition from NI and others. But for now for me Akai is now the heavyweight champ for overall usability and the 2.0 software is brilliant even in beta. The learning curve isn't bad, the Akai MPC Live can do so much and you'll have fun learning at the same time.
