OVERVIEW

Analog monophonic synth with unique modulation matrix.

MatrixBrute is perhaps the most powerful analog monophonic synthesizer ever. As flexible as a modular system but offering presets, MatrixBrute is a dream machine for everyone interested in creating a sound palette of their own. MatrixBrute is an outstanding analog synthesizer. Offering three Brute oscillators, a Steiner-Parker filter and a ladder filter, five analog effects, and the incredible modulation matrix. It is a massive sonic beast.

Power Beyond the Matrix
At the heart of the MatrixBrute is its unique modulation matrix that allows you to create your own routings. You can invent a sound palette of your own that will be heard in any mix. The matrix can also be used to recall your own presets so you can select any of the 256 presets instantly without wandering through menus or awkward selection screens. With the MatrixBrute, everything is at your fingertips. As if it weren’t enough, the matrix is also made to program and play sequences. This is no ordinary step-sequencer. With its ability to also be used as a modulation source, sounds evolve in melody and texture, just the way you want.

Sound Beyond the Power
Offering an audio signal path that is is 100% analog, MatrixBrute also features true analog effects. The MatrixBrute gives you the sonic quality and power of a vast modular synthesizer but with the flexibility of presets along with a great arpeggiator and an advanced sequencer. MatrixBrute offers a multitude of connections so you can work in any set-up. It brings a quality keybed and a solid chassis.

Hands-On Heaven
Forget about tiny LCD screens, being lost in menus and sub-menus, and trying to remember double functions and complex procedures. MatrixBrute brings back the fun and the immediate hands-on experience of synthesis. When you want things to shake, grab the Sub Osc slider and bring it on. When you want it to sizzle, grab the filter knob and open it up. And when it’s time to unleash the beast, grab the Brute Factor knob and turn it loose! It’s that easy.

Comments about Arturia MatrixBrute Analog Synthesizer:

I am as old school as it gets with electronic music. From the start with tapes, to the advent of the Moog and ARP, I've been there. There is so much to love with the Matrix Brute being so close to the analog synths of old. There are several "cons", not game changers but here they are: 1. the weight is an issue if you're touring. I don't know if they even make a proper case for this synth as yet. Luckily, mine stays in the studio.
2.The "matrix" isn't as user friendly as they claim. Being "old school",and loving my ARP 2600's(yes, 2), I am so used to: signal path left to right, control voltages up& down. The "matrix" is sort of like that...I guess, it's taking me a bit to get the hang of it. 3. The manual is too basic and the "video tutorials" are helpful but breeze through things far too quickly. There needs to be a real, in depth user manual to truly understand things with actual "lessons" to wrestle the matrix into submission. Don't get me wrong. This is a great and powerful upgrade to everything I knew from past synths. Just get me a proper manual so I can truly learn all this synth has to offer.

Comments about Arturia MatrixBrute Analog Synthesizer:

I've had many flagship synthesizers since the late 70s (Memorymoog, Pro-One, Moog Source, DX-7, Minimoog, many others...). When I first got the Matrixbrute I was having trouble with the standard patches with my songs, and soon discovered why... the stock patches are designed to show off brute-style sounds (metalizer, etc.) which are unique to the line... however, if you create your own patches you can get the machine to sound like anything you like (even Minimoog richness). Furthermore, the workflow is very intuitive , the modulation routing is unsurpassed with no menu diving, and the the sequencer is incredible. I could go on but here's the skinny... a N00b will not understand it and bash it and an experienced synth player will be blown away at the shear audacity of what Arturia has created.
