Comments about Arturia MiniBrute Monophonic Analog Synthesizer:
This synth has a quality build. It has nice feeling full size keys with nice action. The many one to one functionalities, on a portable synth this size, makes it quickly inspiring. The manual is straight forward and clearly written. I really like the different filters. Not the end all synth, but what is to most. Playing it alone is great. Running through a smart pitch shift/octave pedal blended in, or with a synth box stacking more voices in the aux slider through the sweet filter has also been impressive. This definitely has it's own character and is worth its price.

Comments about Arturia MiniBrute Monophonic Analog Synthesizer:
The Minibrute is the first step in an analog revolution many other companies are now on board with. Praise Arturia for taking the risk in building a synth from scratch! This unit is pure analog heaven. Reminds me of my long gone SH-101. A single, but very flexible almost modular oscillator with mixable shapes. A classic filter used in modular boutique synths. Also the oscillators get driven by the filter. Not common at all. Very high quality central components.
I am not a fan of menu's and parameter matrixes. Knob per function with no value skipping with the Brute!
The envelopes are very diverse and can "thud" like old Moog envelopes. Love the thoughtful fast/slow switch.
LFO's are also very interesting. You can modulate pitch, filter and VCA and each have dedicated controls, plus vibrato. Lots of options.
The arpeggiator reminds me of the Juno 60's very simple and can trigger when playing more than one key.
The build quality is astonishing for a synth at any price point. Very solid feeling pitch/mod wheels. Better than many much more expensive synths.

Comments about Arturia MiniBrute Monophonic Analog Synthesizer:
definitely has that vintage feel of one-knob, one-function... In use this mainly as a texture creator: ground-zero for building up sounds with other components. The metalizer, brute factor and sub-oct elements make this rip! I love to set the arpeggiator and LFO against each other and then shape the results via the two envelopes.. I just need more fingers!!

Comments about Arturia MiniBrute Monophonic Analog Synthesizer:
This synth is a good value when compared to the champs like DSI, Moog, and others. I think that for the dollar it does a good job. IT has pro features that would allow you to trust it in studio and live situations.
The sound is a little thin. For example, basses are more on the end of the Roland style. They tend to need that buzzy quality to sound full. It's not going to be your primary monosynth. The brutalizer (and other similar sound shaping features) will allow you to come up with sounds you can't find on an SH-101 or older monosynths. I have not heard the DSI mopho, but I did have a prophet 2000 (same voice). I dont think this is a replacement for a little phatty, or a mopho, but at the price it's fun and musical.
If you have played with all the high end stuff, you may be a little disappointed. If you are just starting out, you will think this is the greatest thing out there. I'm realizing I like presets a lot more than I remembered.
